[Q] Battery takes ages to recharge - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
I'm using Mackay ROM ICS and my battery recharges for a very long time..
I started recharging it 2 hours ago from 0% and now it's on 66%. Which means it will take 3 hours to charge from 0 to 100%.
I bought a new battery (Genuine.. atleast claims to be) from Ebay. Came yesturday.
It looks really good and high quality, even better than my old one that came with the device, which I bought from a known local cellphone band company in 2010.
How can I tell if the battery is genuine? It was really cheap, from Germany. Costs like 8$.
It weighs 35 grams while my old one is 33 grams. Plus my old one has lots of stickers from the company and all the warranty stuff, so it's probably even lighter than 33..
Thanks.

If its a new battery it'll take longer to charge than normal so give it time.

OK.. I will try.. But I realy doubt it's genuine although the graphics, build and feel look really good and authentic..
My original one has this little thingy in the bottom of the battery, in the middle of it. Like here:

The one I bought doesn't.. Like here:
Everything looks spot on. Just that middle thing is missing..
What do you think?

i can't tell if it's fake or not to be honest. only thing to do is let it fully change and see how long it lasts.

Would you mind checking your own please?
Doesn't have to be now but I'd be happy if you'de check yours for me anytime soon.
Thanks.

Just checked my battery and the bottom of mine is different to both of them lol. I know mine is genuine because it came with my phone when i bought it from a phone shop in the uk. Mine is a very old battery so probably will buy new one too soon.

You have a regular I9000, right?
Also my new battery is 4.123V~ while 100% charged and my old one is 4.07~. That's good, right?
Thanks!

yeah i have a regular Samsung battery and regular i9000 which is rooted and running the same Mackey ics rom as you believe it or not.

[REVIEW] Generic 1500mah Standard Battery from eBay

For a whopping $8.59, I decided to try one of those generic Korean-made 1500mah "standard" battery and wall charger combos from eBay and thought I'd do a review on them, since I've seen a few people ask. You can get them from Hong Kong sellers with 2 batteries for about the same price I paid for a single battery and charger, but this seller ships from the US (Brooklyn, NY) and it only took 3 days to get here vs 3-4 weeks from China.
Here's the product I bought

And here's just the battery

This is actually a surprisingly decent combo. The charger is no speed demon, but it definitely does the job and charges the 1500mah along with the stock 1440mah to 100%. The battery itself, is QUITE surprising. So much so, that I ordered another one. I would say it's at least in line with the stock battery. The phone's been off the charger for 9 hours and 33 minutes and is currently at 34% after pretty heavy usage (screen on a little over 1/4 brightness, surfing the web in Opera for 3 hours total, about 30 text messages, reading emails periodically, made a few changes to the calendar, farted around on and downloaded 4 apps from the market, made some widget and homescreen changes, took 3 10 minute phone calls and did 2 full nandroid backups in CWM).
This is quite surprising, as these generic batteries usually end up sucking pretty badly. I just hope it's longevity is equally impressive. I have a feeling it's life-span isn't going to be quite as long as the stock battery, but for $9 WITH a charger, I won't feel too bad if it's not.
Went to go buy the battery by itself:

if you really want at ebay they sell original battery for less..

They're either fakes, or refurbs. You can find the stock battery, but not for $5. I bought one and didn't realize until it was too late, its a refurb (i.e. used) and it wouldn't hold a charge.

Already have for the last two months. Using one in my phone right now. As far as I can tell they perform exactly the same as the original battery. They are ever so slightly wider, so you need to be a little firmer when installing or removing them.
I bought three of them, one of them seems to be taking longer and longer to charge, the other two are ok.
DX also has this one: which is a bit pricier, haven't tested that one though.

The ebay listing description says 3800 mAh but the photo below of the battery shows only 3000 mAh. Hmmmm.....
Hi..
So big, thx for this information !
dont bother with ebay batteries, they are terrible i owned one and it lasted a day at max, you get what you paid for.
Ive got the GSM model of Nexus S (non-4G). Is there a quality high-capacity battery for my phone? I already found some batteries with good user experience but all of them turned out to be for 4G only (because of the back cover). I was counting with Mugen 3900 as a sure thing but now I was told its not for my phone model. So ... what now?

[Q] Galaxy Note 1 bricked, inflated battery

Bought in November of 2011, my Galaxy Note 1 does not react to any (combinations of) button pressing anymore.
1. It was bought in Germany through Amazon.de; the so-called international unlocked version.
2. Absolutely no rooting.
3. How it got bricked (or dead): at some moment (while using) it stopped reacting and automatically reboot but failed.
4. What happened before: around one month before that, I found the original battery last less and less time, and what's more of my concern, the battery is obviously inflated, which might present a safety problem. So I bought a new battery through Amazon.com (actually two, but the first one did not work at all, so I bought another from a different seller; didn't expect that batteries can also have this kind of "fitting" problem).
5. What I have tried: I didn't spend much time in this because I didn't have much time. What I tried was to use Ordin to install a new (stock) system to it, but failed because Ordin said something like "connection problem". Later the phone cannot enter the download mode because it does not react to any button-pressing anymore.
6. Could it be that the battery is dead: I hope so, but it seems the battery cannot be charged (I tried to charge it for many times).
7. All those happened a few months ago. Today I happened to see the original battery of the phone, and found that it is amazingly so inflated that it looks like a balloon, and I wonder how could it be fitted into the phone if I didn't bought a replacement (and if the phone was not bricked, of course):

I had the same problem. I had to use a friends note to charge my original battery after draining it completely.
try to use one of those universal chargers.they're cheap(about 2 euros),but they to the right job. Or use another note to charge the battery.NEVER try use odin on less than 70% battery.

I'm curious as to why you believe that. If there are any higher capacity batteries out there that will fit in this phone, there is nothing technically speaking to stop them from working. And it would indeed seem that there are higher capacity batteries that will fit this and probably all variants of the Grand Prime...

Guess it didn't matter as long as it fits and powers it, I found my old galaxy s3 battery's all I had to do was remove the plastic from the bottom and Boom! It fit, its only 2100mah but u got two so that makes my battery life 2600+2100+2100 not too shabby, and so far I did not blow up ^_^
