Access Camera from Apps - Samsung Galaxy Gear

There is a problem with capturing photos from 3rd party apps. Once you take a picture, just as the camera is about to return you back to the initiating 3rd party app, the 3rd party app crashes.
It happens to the following apps I tested.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.andrey.notepad
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tubik.notepad
I presume all apps behave this way
Any ideas to get this working. Does any photo taking apps work for you?

I don't remember any crashing. Just turned 90 degrees as that is default rotation

Can somebody modify this app so it stays in landscape mode only as I need it for my work van,it would be a great help.
I've seen some modified phone apps on the s2 which also have call record built in but not sure what would happen installing it on the 7.7??

or get ultimate rotation app in play store and remember, contacts/people app governs dialer...
Enjoy..
I have that but I find it doesn't quite work properly, it makes apps act funny, for example if I keep some apps in portrait how they should be, some of them crash.

works perfect for me..
Ok for example put the homescreen in landscape with rotate selected app and run any of the booth apps(fat,mix,ugly..) in portrait mode they will all crash and the camera will go funny. If I turn off the rotate app they all work fine. I'm not keen on running this app, I'd prefer to have each app modified so it doesn't affect anything else.

I've owned many mobile phones and never installed the fat booth apps.. but am sure I would install them all to get my phone to stay in landscape if that was necessary. Are you sure you have it set right?, sounds like you have it set to global.. where it would affect other apps like these. With the free version you can set one app to behave as you wish, with the paid version you can select all apps.
That said, shouldn't be too difficult to decompile app and set default orientation to landscape.. I think...
best of luck..
A record function would be awesome.

Manual Exposure?

Does anybody know if it's possible to add manual exposure to the stock camera like iPhones and the new Google Camera app?

I don't believe manual exposure works for us in the Google Camera because we don't have it in the stock app. If that is the reason, we'd likely have to have root to enable that feature as camera tweaks are located in /system/etc/media_profiles.xml
*edit - those were resolution tweaks from my recollection. Actual camera options my be restricted to another location, still within the /system directory.

Sphere Photo Viewer?

Is there a Gallery APK that I can side load on my S5 for PhotoSphere viewing? The default gallery just shows Spheres as Panos ....
Thanks
** Got it ** - I sideloaded the APK for gallery that was on XDA - Originally I just installed the Google Camera app from the Store - that didn't seem to include a gallery ...
The camera tha comes with the phone has a feature called Sorround Shot. Same thing as Photosphere. Just click on Mode, and scroll to the right to download, and download it from Samsung Apps.

I pitted surround shot against photosphere from Google camera in a quarry the other day... photosphere blew SS out of the water in pic quality.

Camera and sms auto reply questions

Is there a way to switch between front and rear cameras while recording video on MM?
Also, is there a good sms app that does auto reply besides the Verizon Message+ bloatware? I like the Samsung messenger app. I just want that one function.

No idea about 1st but I use Fluenty for second, it works without needing to disable whatever SMS app you use, Textra in my case. Probably not best place to post this if you want a lot of responses

Are you using moto camera, or another app?

I've been using the stock camera app, but have wondered if I'm missing something better.. I'm not a serious or good photographer by any means. Mainly looking for something simple, that allows save to SD that will take good pictures

I use the Moto camera app that was stock on the phone. 2 reasons, first, if I want to take great pictures I use my dslr not a phone. Second, I love the twist of the wrist to start it. Usually if I am using my phone to photograph it is because a quick something is happening or about to happen and I can twist my wrist as I bring it up to my face level and the camera app is open and ready to use. Just my 2 cents.

Exactly, I have the same feelings about moto camera. Also you can record video very quickly (no need to change mode like in other apps). Slow motion video is quite fun too. The only thing that I hate is that it doesn't have built in gallery like for example google cam which leads to delays and bugs.
I'm using HTC Camera and it works well.
Snapdragon camera, which I'm really liking.
I'm using Moto camera but the newer version (camera1) ported from Moto G which adds in a better UI and some manual controls
For pics I use the Google Camera with the HDR+ enabled, it takes great shots when there's a lot of light, Moto camera it's ok, but I rather use Google's. I'm also using Footej (haven't used it that much but so far so good!).
Since I'm rooted I have Xposed, whith the Twisty module I can enable the wrist twist to open any of the cameras I want as default.
For my use of a camera and I have tried many, I really like Open Camera from the Play Store. It offers some of the best options and features without getting all gimmicky.
Using two camera apps, Camera1 from the play store (Motorola's New Camera) for taking pictures and Open Camera for video recording
I have been using "DSLR Camera" from the store for about the last two years. Does everything I want with no fuss.

But don't think it would suit as a system app because there are way to many features
I prefer SnapDragon Camera. I believe you must have a caf kernel in order for it to work correctly.
