One of the apps muted music and sounds and sounds on my nook hd plus. I've been googling to find the setting where I can unmute but the only answers I'm finding is to install an app to do that. Is that really the case? There's no way to unmute with settings in stock nook without installing third party app?

Did you try pushing the volume up button on the side? If that doesn't work, there should be volume settings in settings.

Pushing button up doesnt unmute. There's no setting in the sound volume section.

You could go back into the app and unmute if it has that option.
You could try rebooting and trying the volume button without removing the app.
Remove the app, and reboot.
And them I'm out of ideas. Something should work without installing an app to fix the sound.
What indications are you getting that it is muted (other than no sound)? Any symbols or anything? And you cannot raise the volume by just moving the volume bar?

The speaker icon in the menu is striken out - a typical mute indicator. the mute icon is not clickable. moving the bar doesnt unmute the sound (the bar does move). Based on googling the only answer I found was to install a third party app, someone recommended "Volume Control +" and that's what I used.
I dont know which app muted the sound, I just reflashed the nook and reinstalled bunch of apps that were on it before. Pushing button up on the side changes increases the volume (as indicated on the bar in the settings) but does not unmute the sound.
Something should work without installing an app to fix the sound - that was exactly my thought. Easiest way to replicate it is to mute it with the above app and trying to find a way to unmute it using stock tools.
Links I found:
http://bookclubs.barnesandnoble.com...t/Nook-HD-plus-Volume-muted/m-p/1457882#M6992 (solution on bn forum is to install a third party app)
http://www.askmefast.com/My_Nook_ta...ork_and_now_there_is_no_sound-qna1584455.html
Sp perhaps just an app that had a feature gone wrong - locks all control.
Which would mean that if the app causing it is disabled, removed, or perhaps blocked from controlling sound via privacy controls, then the issue would be removed as well (restart possibly needed). And that is how to get around the installation of an app to fix the problem.
[Just need to find the correct app one at a time via the above.]
Turn on the Bluetooth option then turn it back off.
You may even have to try connecting the headphones on first, then turn on and connect the bluetooth, then turn it off.

Can you not get what you want by choosing:
-Settings
-Language and Keyboard Settings
-Samsung Keyboard
then, click on/off Vibrate on Keypress, click on/off Sound on Keypress ??
nope, there is no option to disable the clicking noise. It's pretty odd that settings is left out.
I'm not sure this would help, but for the leaked 2.3.3 Gingerbread if you go to:
Settings>Sound>Uncheck Audible Tones
It removes the noise from the stock Samsung Keyboard.

The problem with that is that it disabled the audible tones when you are typing in a phone number.

Yeah, yur right, there's a setting for the Android Keyboard to disable sound and vibrate, but not on the Samsung Keyboard. Maybe try a rom that has that feature, a lot of them are adding mods to different KB's
Just figured it out. If you go into sound settings and turn down system volume it turns down or off the keyboard sound. Also the vibration intensity affects the keyboard
Can't someone just mod the
App

I tend to not have vibrate on out night especially this phone, the vibrate is quite loud and the curved back doesn't help when the phone is on my bedside cabinet.
I switched to sound only in sound settings but to my surprise it still vibrated when I received a text via stock sms app, I guess the same would happen if I received a whatsapp message.
Does anybody know how to easily turn off ALL App specific vibrate settings in go? Or would I have to go into each individual app to switch it off?
Thanks

Great timing, I was just about to post the same question (if it's an answer you want the best I can offer is "No, I don't think you can, at least I haven't found out how, which is why I'm here").
For me it's the alarm, a nice tune to wake up to is great but it's not so nice when the phone spazzes out and bounces all over the cabinet like a runaway chainsaw (over dramatic, moi?). I've not found anything to turn it off and it's really annoying.
Bit of a design flaw really, surely the overall sound settings should be the master, but a setting should allow you to override it via app, I.e if on it allows app settings to use it's own sound settings if off it goes by the master. Maybe that's expecting too much.

It's worse than that, I don't have vibration switched on for anything, the sound profile is "Normal" (as opposed to Vibrate or Silent) and my in-app settings also have it turned off wherever there's an option to do so but the alarm still sets it off.
I suffer from the same....

I tied to install the GE HD3.2 and it has an option to get the alarm without vibration.
when I switched back to Revolution 20.2 this option disappeared......
Just push the stock GE clock app to your system/app folder and set correct permissions and you can turn vibrate off on any Sense ROM ... Best way is to just flash that app in custom recovery, I will post it if anybody requires.
I thought I'd recently seen it stated somewhere that with 4.3 there would be a way to set different volume levels for ringtones and notifications. I've done the 4.3 upgrade from AT&T and I don't see any way to do this. Under Settings, Sound, Volumes, the ringtone & notifications are still together like they were on 4.1.2. Does anyone know if they're now able to be set separately, and if so how?
FYI, my One is non-rooted running stock 4.3.
Thanks.

Thanks Paul, but unfortunately I don't see that option on my screen.
Hello. I am looking for an app I can use to auto set the volume for Scout, (my gps app), to high when started, then revert the volume back to the way it was when the app is stopped.
Is there anything out there like that? There should be, right?
I currently use Volume Locker just to lock my ringer volume, but it appears that app doesn't have the functionality I'm looking for.

I am testing out a Moto Z Force (coming from a Nexus 6P) to see if I can handle switching without having root. And a couple of things I am missing already. Is there anyway to break out the volume controls and have a separate control for ringtone and a separate one for your notifications like sms? I hate having the same volume control for ringtone and sms. Next, I miss my "power menu". Is there anyway to get the flashlight option by pressing and holding the power button down?
I know these are not big deals...just seeing if I can fix them
@darkcyber20 I don't know of a way without having root privileges to ruin the volume controls.
For the flashlight though, Moto has baked in a gesture for quickly enabling it. It's a double chop motion. Look in the Moto app, in the section called Actions.

Well, crap! Why do these phone manufactures think people want to have the same volume level for their ringtone as for their text app? Thanks for the information! The ringtones and notifications sounds are considerable lower than my Nexus 6P

I personally hate the separate ringtone/notification volume controls. That was one thing that seriously annoyed me about the Sammy phones I have owned. I'd lower the volume with the side buttons then get blasted by a notification tone.

I like separate volume controls. I use an app to set the volumes/vibration appropriately for the situation.
Also, it should be easy to allow the volumes to be linked if desired. Someday we will have the best of both worlds.

The app I use is called Audio Profiles. Unfortunately it does not have the ability to set different volumes for the ring tone and the notification unless the phone allows it. I had the LG G5 and the Note 7 (for a few days) and it worked with both of those. It won't work with the Moto Z family. My comment that you quoted simply meant that it shouldn't be that hard for the software to allow either separated or linked ring and notification tones.
However, my notification tone is OK. There is a known issue with the notification tones being hosed. It seems to be sort of random. When I was trying to select a tone, I could not hear some of them so I selected one that was a good volume. Not sure if you are able to pick one that sounds OK. Some folks can and some cannot. Hopefully this will be resolved with the next update.
Also, Audio Profiles is not perfect. Sometime it doesn't give you the profile you selected. It is better than 95% with my experience which isn't bad. I had a hard time finding one that worked at all. I used to use Tasker, but gave that up.
