M8 just come out with a new camera gimmick. After watching review, this question hits me - is there a way to shot ZOE, but with all depths, from macro to infinity?
That thing could breathe new life into our M7. Eg bee on the flower with sharp big tree in the background, different layers effects, etc.
Yeah.. it's called Photoshop.. other than that the m7 hasn't got a depth of field camera..

Joking apart, take a look at what Google are doing right now.. This could be the answer you where looking for..

My wife just got the Pantect Burst should I trade her for my white vivid?

Are you serious? No. Just no.

Pantech phones are terrible
The burst is a nice device. A very speedy device, and has an almost AOSP build of gingerbread running on it. Pantech plans to bring ICS to it someday, but who knows when that will happen To me the device almost looks like the Nexus S without the curved display.
Then let your wife be the cool one
Personally I couldn't go back to 4" WVGA, one thing I love about the Vivid is the screen, it's amazing ;-)
Sent from my HTC Vivid via Tapatalk
Its a serious downgrade, build quality, ICS vs GB (cartoony too), camera, screen res, support, etc. I mean the Burst is a nice device for the price but I wouldnt think for a second trading my Vivid for one

Looks like I might be canceling my orderdue to the purple glaze effect which the Iphone5 had. As camera is a important aspecr for me.

Update: yup. You guys are right. Its just a phone. And no. I dont take pictures of my food. Lol. I was expecting too much for a 300 dollar device. And no phone is perfect in every way. I do have a dslr, but I wont be carrying that with me 24/7. So sometimes you have to use your phone to freeze that perfect moment.
I was not trying to convince anybody to not get the phone. I was simply trying to get the fact out in case it does bother anyone.
My nexus will be arriving in a few days.
So one image of bright lights means it's a problem huh? Jesus...
Your purchase or lack thereof will be sorely missed.
(dibs on this guys canceled order!!)
I always thought that was the JJ Abrams light flare edition camera....

Crap, beat me to it!
It only says in certain lighting conditions. Not necessarily a big deal for me.

This thing isn't an issue. I currently have the iPhone 5 on my sprint account and the pictures come out great with rarely any purple haze. To each his own but to not buy a phone because of this slight issue is crazy.

What, not a Jimi Hendrix fan?!
You should at least try it. If you just rely on review every time, you won't but anything. I was afraid that this phone wouldn't be a real upgrade (i had a galaxy nexus). But the hardware is really good and the reactivity of the device is just amazing.
I would consider give it a try, you can always send it back if you want to and get a refund.

Ehmmm, have you tried to photograph something different from a turned on lamp?
I just tries taking a similar picture. I don't get that :/ there's just a little purple bit next to the light on the top. Look at the attachment.

u guys using it wrong
Finding a reason to hate the phone because you couldn't get one? Kinda bitter...
All phone cameras get this AFAIK. It's bright lights that do it. Some do it more than others, but they all do it to some degree.
I don't have that issue...but if it means that much to you, then just go buy a dedicated camera and use it.

Bull****. Mine Galaxy nexus and previous Galaxy S2 didn't have such issues at all. Camera supposed to be premium I'm paying for high end phone class at least.

Even reflex objective suffer some purple fringing at max aperture in direct sunlight, and some of them cost more than the n4.
I don't even know why people should bother about this, just learn to move when make a photo and don't make direct light photos...
Test
Ok...
Stare at a bright light for 1 min without blinking... do you see a purple haze? Bright lights stress optics this is nothing new use a filter.
Yo
So I just bought my HTC One yesterday, and I've noticed that Gmail and Facebook push notifications does not work despite it being turned on - what could be the cause?
I am still having a hard time deciding if I should turn it in, because the 4 MP camera just might not cut it for me, lack of detail and a bit blurry pictures in my opinion, though the colors are pretty okay in low light. What do you guys think about the camera?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Also, how are ya'lls 4G signal? Mine is not very impressive, and even on 3g or h+ i only get three bars as oppose to full with my nexus 4
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Even in the middle of town I only get 3 bars

I am REALLY on the edge about using my 14 days return policy.
HTC One is a masterpiece, but that camera is hyped too much.
I did a few on the spot tests in a phone store today, and my HTC One had bad color reproduction, was kind of out of focus and in general just grainy and blurry. S4 first then One
It sucks, I really love this phone, but weak 4G signal, a weak camera, push notification problems and not too good battery performance really sucks :/
Hi guys!
My One will be arriving later this week. Any advice on what initial testing I should do? Like are there key/number shortcuts and codes to certain tests for pixel, sound, camera, recorder, etc?
This is going to be my first HTC phone, so I want it to be flawless.
For 1,i would advice you to download the pixel test app just to make sure there isnt any dead ones.

Just test camera and actual hardware.
-Sent from Marino's One-
Check for gaps on the speaker grills, check for blue camera tint. Check for dead pixels. Check for speaker popping with loud sounds. Oh and check for slow camera focusing. I think that's it lol

Appreciate the quick replies. Any other inputs?
I get mine tomorrow. I'll be checking for dead pixels, build quality issues, camera issues and how well the mics perform
Sent from my X909 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Does anybody know if this thing has dead pixel test shortcuts like that of Samsung Galaxy S2? I remember using a certian code like *#0*# or something when I first bought my S2.
I have 5 dead pixels on this one. Just got another one from HTC. Has only 1 stuck or dead pixel on the top. I'm keeping it the 1 pixel one.

Sorry I don't have any photos worth sharing yet. But the Camera is perfectly fine.
I think the Dual Camera stuff is pure gimmickry. It's cute for about 5 minutes.
It does not focus "out of focus" pictures. Everything has to be in focus like a normal shot and it then it can Defocus what you don't want.
Basically emulated Len Bokeh effect.
I never found the old EVO 3D to be gimmickry. It really worked and I just retired my wife's 3D to give her the old HTC One. She's bummed she is losing the 3D.
Problem with that 3D camera though is it was very slow and very hard to get shots in focus. But if you did or had enough light the 3D effect was pretty impressive.
One thing the second camera might do is help with focusing and focusing quick. That might not be gimmickry and possibly useful.
If HTC Marketed that instead, they might actually make a profit.
Coming from the s3 which has a great camera, I'm curious how the m8 camera's picture quality compares to it (as well as the s4 & s5) when it comes to just regular everyday photos. Even if they are larger "ultra pixels", 4mp seems pretty weak compared to other devices.

My M7 absolutely puts the Note 2's camera to shame.. So. Expect a big jump as compared to the S3. I also wasn't impressed with the S4's camera. My pics always looked better then my friends at the same events.
I don't expect much out of the S5 either.
Literally the only thing with 4mp, is that you cant crop or zoom in on your pictures. Even with that one flaw, its been my favorite camera of anything i've ever used.
I am not a good photographer and don't really mess with the camera settings at all.

I was actually going to make a topic like this, but I guess I was too late
Anyways, here are some that I've taken that I've been pretty impressed with after barely messing with the settings. The first two clearly have filters, but the last one with my son was just a Ufocus edit. Makes me feel like a wannabe photographer
