[Q] Flashing New Firmware & Hboot Risk - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

F I flash the new firmware & hboot incorrectly, is my phone going to be soft bricked or hard bricked? I know it's a stupid question. I just want to know the risk.

If you can enter bootloader mode, most likely you can recover. Just try to re-flash the ROM
If you do not flash a new bootloader when upgrading ROMS then you should be fine because as long as there is access to the bootloader you can recover from a failed flash. If you are flashing a new bootloader as part of a ROM then make sure nothing happens to the computer during the initial part of the flashing process when the bootloader is changed, if it fails here then chances are you will have a brick. Another way of bricking is flashing a G3 bootloader to a G4 device. A G4 device currently needs no bootloader upgrades so jsut make sure the ROM you are flashing doesn't have a bootloader.

Bootloader version error when flashing stock ruu

Hi i was flashing te stock optus rom and it failed and now says security warning in bootloader?
When i try to flash again says wrong bootloader version.
Can anyone help
your ****ed, sorry to say...
2 solutions left
1. find someone around you with an xtc clip, and fix the damn thing (this actually overrules the entire process and gives u a proper s-off phone)
2. dare to bring it back to the phone compagny, but u got a high risk of gettin a personal bill from it

[Q] Going back to 4.1.2 stock

Hello to all,
Sorry if this post has already been covered a gazillion times previously!!
I have a HTC ONE, which has been rooted for a few months to v4.2.2 from v4.1.2, but I want to go back to v4.1.2 so I can receive OTA's; I can't figure out which version of a RUU I need to download and I don't want to flash something that might brick my phone!
I have checked what software version is currently on my phone and it shows 1.29.161.11; I presume this is not the correct version hence I have the Revloution HD Rom installed!?
I would appreciate some help as I keep reading that I need something called "S-OFF" in order to flash a new rom, but I have no idea what this is?!?
Thanks in advance.
Rick.

Your phone is s-on, their is no RUU that will work with your phone
use this GURU Reset and choose yes to stock recovery and radio and no to root during install
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358543706
it's also a good idea to factory reset before flashing the Guru Reset
Also you need TWRP 2.6.3.3 to flash the Reset correctly

Reset does not update the firmware, you have hboot 1.57 your firmware is at least 5.x.401.x

It all depends on when you updated the phone before flashing custom recovery
if your on 5.11.401.10 your phone should update normally ...this software matches your CID
However if your on 6.09.401.5 and it tries to update it will most likely fail
I'm not sure how many .401 updates their are after 5.x

Brick every custom rom flash

I have followed the rooting, backup (drm keys), flash new firmware etc etc procedure. However every time i flash a custom rom and reboot it goes into brick. I mean no bootloop just flashing red led when on charger, i cant even get to recovery to restore.
then i have to do
Flash .105 kitkat stock firmware>giefroot>dualrecovery install.bat>flash new pre rooted firmware>try flashing custom rom again>BRICK>(return to start)^
i have unlocked bootloader, everything done, even when i try and restore drm keys i get bricked.
i have currently given up on custom roms and im living with crap camera, no custom rom.....nothing.
please help, send food n water
Help please
:crying:
