Hi guys im running null on my gear and I've just flashed a custom rom on my note 3. Which for some reason has disabled my nfc.
As such I'm unable to connect my gear to my phone. Is there another way to do it? I've tried to connect manually but it doesn't show contacts or notifications etc it only allows me to use it as a bluetooth hands free kit.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. That was the second thing I tried and I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong.
The watch does connect to the phone audio. But when I try to connect manually the watch does not show on the phone so I can't get notifications, use the media player etc.

Playing music on Foobar on the PC. I get a call on my phone. The PC pauses the music on its own. And once I hang up the call, it resumes on its own again. 2nd times it's happening. I am sure there is some very simple explanation to all this. Can someone say what it is? It's kinda freaking me out.

It's called genius mate
Wouldn't exactly say it's a phenomenon. More like a feature of Foobar.

Yes, an app called FoobarCon. But it wasn't running at that point. But i think you might be on to something. It only pauses when I'm connected to wifi so something is sending info from the phone to the pc.

That's a feature of that app mate. It could well be running in the background.

When I'm at or near Starbucks or McDonald's my wifi automatically connects to their router, how can I stop that from happening other than turning my wifi off.

Settings / Wi-Fi then long press and hold the one you don't want to auto connect to and select forget.

How? It doesn't seem to be an option.

You need to install it on your phone and gear and you can do it... I have tried it. Transfered few .apk files its slow but works.

Install what on the phone? And is the only way to install by connecting with wire? I lost my cradle, so that is my issue.

Which Bluetooth File Transfer?
There are multiple BT File Transfer apps on the play store, which one is the right one?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.medieval.blueftp
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Bluetooth_File_Transfer_2
And this one which I doubt is correct since it was last updated 2+ years ago:

I very much appreciate all the help you can give, the vids I've seen on YouTube just talk about adding android apps to the Gear via windows, surely there must be a MAC version or there by now

Not to be a jerk but this should have been posted in Q&A section. But anyhow it sounds lije your proximity sensor may be bad. Open your phone app and press menu button to access settings if you cant figure it out I would just backup all the data with Kies 3 or whatever and do a factory reset

Haven't tried a reset, bbut download this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tigermonster.proxfinder and am getting readings for 0 and 8cm (no intermediate) as well as time covered.
So not really sure what to do next. Reset might be only way.

Try this:
Go to- Settings
My device
Call
Turn off screen during calls.
There should be a check next to it. Try turning it off & on again.
Be aware things change if you're using bluetooth...
Hope this helps.

OK thanks trying this now. I've un-ticked rebooted and will re enable then reboot again.
Ok done no joy, will hard resetting the device really work its a pain to set it backup again

Ok thought i would try something after reading elsewhere that dust can effect it quite easily. I have an otterbox defender. Guess what, no problems at all when phone is naked.
Case closed! Ill just have to "deal with it" as they say!

That sounds like your case was blocking the proximity sensor on the front of your device
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using xda app-developers app
Yup thats what i discovered. It doesnt directly block it but the presence of the case close to the sensor must be creating some confusing for it.
