When I'm at or near Starbucks or McDonald's my wifi automatically connects to their router, how can I stop that from happening other than turning my wifi off.

Settings / Wi-Fi then long press and hold the one you don't want to auto connect to and select forget.

Anyone figure out how to get WiFi tether to work? I get an error on setting up adhoc
Settings, change device profile (generic ics/jb (wlan0), enable mms clamping and routing fix.

Where do you find that under?

It would be helpful to mention these directions are for the root wifi tether app and not for anything built into the phone. There is no working solution without root as of now if that's what you're looking for.

I figure that was a given.... Oh well.

I had the problem too. Needed to factory reset, not restore anything, and the wifi tether for root app was working again.
Needs specific settings though. I'll share tomorrow sometime if someone else doesn't first. It's easier to paste from the pc.

They got the native working cuz they can't use the WiFi tether app.
We got a modified WiFi tether app to use.

I would also prefer the stock hotspot but I have the root app working anyway

Still no luck....I'm on stock Rom, root also with s-off......I will rest the phone to see if I have any luck. Thanks everyone.

I had it working at first, then after awhile it stopped working. Not sure why but a factory reset fixed it. Try that.

which .apk file of the trev tether app do i use to install this?
Weird. I get laggy buffering issues when I'm connected to WiFi. Whether I'm at home or at work.. as soon as I jump back on LTE, it works fine.
Is there something I can check in my settings?

Which notification do you mean? Have you looked in Wi-Fi > Menu, Advanced > Network Notification?
Ya. Anything regarding notification is turned off.
I'm rooted on 3.05.651.6 stock rom.

In WiFi Settings, goto Advanced, and turn off "Scanning always available"...should solve your issue.

This is a snap of my settings.
Not sure why it keeps happening. I find my Wi-Fi turns itself on whenever it senses a hotspot even though my settings are as they are.

Do you think it does this because of the version of the radio?

Hi guys im running null on my gear and I've just flashed a custom rom on my note 3. Which for some reason has disabled my nfc.
As such I'm unable to connect my gear to my phone. Is there another way to do it? I've tried to connect manually but it doesn't show contacts or notifications etc it only allows me to use it as a bluetooth hands free kit.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. That was the second thing I tried and I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong.
The watch does connect to the phone audio. But when I try to connect manually the watch does not show on the phone so I can't get notifications, use the media player etc.
