[Q] No MMS on T-mo, bad APN? - Motorola Atrix HD

I recently switched to Metro PCS through T-mobile. Since then, I havent been able to send or receive MMS on the phone. Everything else works fine. I checked my APN setitngs and I appear to have the correct ones. I have flashed several roms before returning to stock, and still have the problem. I have also called customer suport and they gave me the exact APN i already have. But if anyone has working MMS on Metro or Tmo, can you post up your APN settings?
Thanks

You need to use fast.MetroPCS.com apn and add the MMS stuff manual style. I had an Atrix HD on metro then t-mobile, then my Atrix took an arrow to the knee error drowned... I miss kittykat Maxx HD with unlocked bootloader but Sony tl is better than I expected and looks classy

Problem solved. They reset the line on their end and it fixed MMS, but blew out SMS. They couldnt fix it, but i ended up fixing it by enabling SMS over IMS through the dialer menu. Still on the fast.metropcs.com APN.

[Q] samsung galaxy s..Get it back to stock T mobile from telsa

Long story I'll make it short. My friend ask for my help on his Samsung galaxy s from t mobile original.
his wife had it and she got the s2 and sold the phone to a family member in Brazil. they couldn't get it to work with there network and sent it back to them. So he kept it for himself. Now when he starts the phone it say telsa (something like that) Instead of t mobile. he can only make and receive calls maybe text but he gets no 3g internet at all. I looked in the apn and a t mobile apn is there.
Can anyone help. He knows nothing about how to do this. I have a motorola atrix so I have an idea. If anyone can tell me how to get this back to t mobile it would be great.
Thanks in advance

Is the t-mobile apn selected? Check if the settings are correct for your carrier.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
apn was selected. checked the setting in the apn and matched it to couple i saw online. But I saw one difference. MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0 is not on the apn thats on the phone. I tried to make a new apn but MMS Protocol is not there. Also I just found out that even though it says galaxy s on the back of the phone he told me its the 3g version which is the vibrate from t-mobile. So I might have posted this in the wrong section.
could they have put a different baseband like one for telsa maybe thats why it doesn't work for t-mobile

[Q] Can the Vivid be used on Straight Talk?

Hi all. A friend of mine was looking to get an Android on Straight Talk. Before picking up one of the abominable offerings, I noticed that Straight Talk takes unlocked AT&T and T-Mo phones. I wanted to double check if anyone could confirm that it works. Can anyone fill me in?

it doesnt have to be unlocked... i havent tried the vivid, but i did sell my inspire to a co-worker and he had no issues using it on straight talk.
Tell him to order the sim for att...from st8talk... and it will work no problem
Straight Talk is actually an MNVO (mobile network virtual operator) that runs on the AT&T towers, so any AT&T device is compatible on a basic level. You will need to change the apn for data access. I think it is att.mnvo or something similar. I have read that your data speeds will likely be throttled to a lower speed. If data speed is important, you may also want to check to see if you will have access to LTE and/or HSPA+ networks.

Thanks for the EXCELLENT reply. That was extremely helpful. I do have a couple followup questions.
Straight Talk is accepting T-Mo phones as well. Would those also run off the AT&T network still?
Also, she alleges that she doesn't have AT&T service where she lives. She is currently using a Wal-Mart purchased Straight Talk flip phone. Can someone explain that???

Yes, so they would have to be network unlocked. Also, since T-MO and AT&T have some differences in frequency bands and data transmission protocols for high speed, most T-MO phones won't be able to access high speed data.

I have read that AT&T and T-MO have roaming agreements for voice (not sure about data) and that these agreements only apply for monthly plans, not pay as you go. It could be that the monthly plan MNVO users also have the benefit of the roaming? If you are curious, ask her to check her network settings and it should indicate if she is connected to at&t/smart talk or if it is t-mo. Since it is covered under agreement, I don't know if it shows up as a roaming status on the main screen. Assuming she is correct about the AT&T thing to begin with...

Model
Do you have the model and brand of the phone she is using?
If it is AT&T Sim from Straight Talk will operate on ATT towers. If it is TMO sim will operate on T-Mobile towers.
If her area is not covered by T-MO or ATT, then she may be using a Straight Talk CDMA phone which could run on another provider like Verizon.
I have the Vivid with Sraight Talk and no problems. I do have an issue sending MMS messages, which is an issue with my phone (I switched the SIM to a Galaxy and to HTC Inspire and I was able to send MMS).
Does anybody know why? (I'm using the APN recommended by Straight Talk).
To clarify a few things: I too have Straight Talk on my brothers Vivid with. Att SIM. I do NOT suggest getting a Tmo SIM. Reception is awfull if you aren't in a large city. Also you can NOT roam the ATT towers with the Tmo SIM. Data Speeds are NOT throttled at all and I regularly hit 700-1000KB dl or 6-8megs however you calculate. Straight Talk will throttle you if you repeatedly use over 2GB of data a month buy for 45$ a month you can't lose. Hope this helps
Vivid and MMS?
Nate,
Are you able to send MMS messages with your Vivid?
I'm able to connect to Internet and make calls. I configured the APN correctly and I still can't send MMS. If I switch my SIM to any other phone, I'm able to send MMS. Any idea on this?
Thanks!!
PS. And yes, $45 per month is awesome!
Hi gifr, yes mms works perfectly. It may be an issue with your Rom, your Texting App, or an apn setting. That's the only thing I think it could be.
I have been thinking of doing this with NET10 which it is my understanding is the same thing as Straight Talk and works with both AT&T and T-Mobile towers.
Is the data really unlimited or are you slowed down after a certain amount?
Does Visual Voicemail work?
Can specified only for AT&T and T-Mobile apps be installed and used?
Visual voice mail doesn't work on my vivid but everything else does.

That is a depreciated APN... You wanna use the 'phone' or 'pta'...
You'll have data drops and places where MMS won't send with that

FWIW these are the settings currently supplied with the AT&T 4G enabled SIMs that Straight Talk has just begun selling. Work fine on a S4 Google edition.

New APN setting for straight talk ATT

Just before lunch today I lost all data, could make calls and text. I called straight talk. I got the normal run around. I asked if there was any outages in Alabama. Was told no. I called my local ATT store and they said they have no reports. So I looked up straight talks apn again just to make sure something didn't go crazy. There is a NEW APN. I put it in and I have data working again.

Nothing else works but the one in the first post. I just done a factory reset and its still the same. I was wondering if it was a location thing but my wifes phone still the same, Something is going on with my phone or other Straight talk is screwing with me.

I just had the same experience. My AT&T Straight Talk Nexus 4 data stopped working yesterday, but my wife's phone, also on AT&T Straight Talk, continued working without a hitch. My renewal day was yesterday, too, but my wife has a different renewal date. My data stopped working at around the same time I got the email from them indicating my auto-charge was successful.
I called Straight Talk and was given the runaround that my data was disabled because I was violating their terms and conditions. I told them I categorically was not violating them, which is true - I use less than 1GB of data each month, and don't even watch Youtube on my phone - then demanded to be transfered to a supervisor. I was connected to a supervisor who was more helpful and gave me the new APN information, and I was soon back up and running.
The good news is that performance during my morning commute seem much better with the new APN. Perhaps AT&T started kicking Straight Talk customers off of att.mvno at the end of their monthly cycle and Straight Talk is scrambling to get them on their own APN? I have no problem with it if that's the case and the APN performance is OK, but it sure would have been nice to know in advance...

my end date was yesterday too... on two phones.. got off the phone today with ST with a new APN.. well SMS/Phone/Data are working, but no MMS i can send from the phone but its not reciving them. anyone checked this?
This may very well be the case. My wifes service ends about the middle of the month. Looks like they could have said something when i was on the phone with them for 30mins, or an email!!!
My mms is working
i can send MMS to my email [email protected] but cant recive them. i get a notifcation for Message Not Downloaded! any ideas
I'm trying not to panic, but it may be that Straight Talk is going to go downhill from here :^(
AT&T doesn't want to subsidize it's services anymore, I don't want a T-Mobile sim!
My renewal date was yesterday and my data went totally offline. I googled it and found the "new" apn settings on the ST website. I updated and everything works except MMS, I can send but not receive.
I spent hours going to dozens of websites, entered new apn settings at least 25-30 times to no avail, and spent an hour on the phone with ST support (they didn't help at all).
Hopefully this is just a transition that needs some time to resolve a few bugs. Clearly the MMS server/proxy is having forwarding problems.
Oh we'll, I've pinned this thread and plan on checking it often to see if there are any developments.
Same here... No warning, just lost data yesterday - coincidentally the same day as my subscription renewal. After fighting with settings all day, noticed new APN info on ST site. Entered and now working perfectly. WTF?

[Q] Tmobile Moto X on ATT LTE

Hey all,
I'm having some issues trying to get my Tmobile moto x on ATT LTE. I called in and asked to provision my IMEI for LTE and they did. When I put my sim card in I could receive calls and texts but had 0 data not even 2g. So they switched my APN to wap.cingular which allowed me to get 4g but no LTE. Anyone have any tips to help through this process.
Thanks all.

It is a pretty simple task just by calling att without messing with the software of the phone. I dont understand how you can enable lte when your register as umts in the att system?

So after a 30 minute chat with the AT&T support guy, he basically stated AT&T will not be able to put the phone as an LTE device on their network, that Motorola is listing it as GSM only. Told me to reach out to motorola (which I did already ) and let them know how they can enable it as an LTE device on their network. I tried telling him I had an ATT LTE phone IMEI available, but he said it didn't matter, once I switched the sim card back to my Moto, it would automatically go back to GSM only (HSPA+). Kind of frustrating, technically, the phone is LTE compatible with ATT, but they can't enable it, and motorola probably will tell me "you should've gotten an ATT version" lol

I wanted to follow up for those that have the T-Mo edition and are using it on AT&T (I'm assuming the issue is the same with the developer one). After a huge chat with the AT&T rep, and the Motorola support, I still did not have LTE access on my phone. This fellow XDA'er, untyped, came out of no where with the solution. Not even the AT&T rep could get it to work for me, but he did. I know have LTE access, all thanks to this guy. You never know how far a person will go to help another one out. I can confirm the same. I had to go get a nano-SIM from AT&T. When the lady changed the IMEI in my account information she couldn't get data to work until she changed it back to my original phone. After that it worked fine!
They recognize as a smart phone but not a lte capable one. Just a hspa+ capable one.

Using Mi8 in USA

I am currently on AT&T which primarily uses bands 12 and 17, which are both supported by Mi8, but I am still a bit unsure about using one in the US. Is anybody using the Mi8 in the US? Are you getting 4G? What carriers are you guys using?
I'm on MetroPCS and I'm getting 4G. I'm getting the same service and speed that I was on my Pixel XL if that's helpful at all.
I had to flash my phone from the Russian Global ROM it shipped with to the regular ROM, and that alleviated some issues and increased my battery life. You can't re-lock the bootloader without installing Magisk, and that looks a tad tricky at the moment, but I'm sure it will sort out soon. People are really impatient

just one particular group of people where we've used mms for group messaging many years ago. just easier to keep going with it.
I found the answer. Settings in apn are fine just gotta use a textster or other messaging app that will allow you to group message. Google messages and mi messaging on the phone don't work with group mms.
Using Verizon MMS works fine here No VoLTE though
