Help flashing with flashtool. - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm trying to downgrade my xperia z1 c6906 so I can root it. It's locked bootloader on 4.3. When I try to flash I get the error error. Invalid literal/length code any suggestions

Using latest flashtool? Read up on downgrading from 4.3. Some users have had major problems.

I'm not sure to understand but you can root your phone in 4.4.2 too
Also be sure to have the latest Flashtool version.
BTW i'm not agree with augie7107, there is no major problem to downgrade by flashing a FTF file with flashtool.

There is no root method for 4.4.2 without unlocking the boot

Yes but you can flashing a pre rooted rom, that doesn't need to unlock your BL, i'm using the 4.4.2 NUT ROM with locked BL.

I maybe wrong from all the treads I have read. Is there a way to root and unlock bootloader on t mobile yet with latest firmware and updates
If you mean the C6606, then the bootloader is permanently locked. There is no method to bypass that.

Yes thats the one im talking about.....bummer. that means no root either!?
Yes, you can root. If you're on a 4.2 firmware, then this should work - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
If you're on 4.3, then you will have to downgrade to root, then flash a prerooted rom.

Rooting 4.3 without downgrading

Can I root my Z1 having the 4.3 version without downgrading? If so please tell me. I downgraded yesterday and ended up not having having any signal and my imei was a bunch of zero's.
If you know a fix for the downgrading problem that is fine too, as long as I can root it preferably tonight.
Thank you in advance

Whilst downgrading, you have to downgrade to .257 and then to .534. The problem with disappearing IMEI happens only if you downgrade directly to .534.
If you have an unlockable bootloader you could unlock your bootloader and then flash a custom kernel.
If you are on locked bootloader or would prefer to not unlock the bootloader, the only way is to downgrade all the way to .534, root, install recovery and then prerooted firmware.
Could you walk me through the process of downgrading twice without unlocking the bootloader, thanks.

I made the mistake of doing this last night and now my phone tells me I have an invalid sim... anyone one know how to solve that?
I solved it by flashing back to my stock rom, the . 290 one.

Many thanks, I'll give that a try once I find a generic UK 290 ftf. Can only find the 534 and 257 at the moment...

Z2 apps!!!

Can the apps from Z2 be put onto non rooted Z1 at all?
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Just a few ones, like the live wallpaper MAY work. You need root to enjoy Z2 apps and many other goodies like the Xposed Framework.
Any more word on these apps working without root?

Just use the FTF provided by NUT in Post #3 here. Then use Bin4ry Method to root, Install SuperSU, XZDualRecovery and update to 4.4 again form http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2687443.

Yes, dualrecovery you have to have to install 4.4 from .zip file then stripped from Flashtool. It's an easy installation and you will forget even to have it but is really important because you will do a full backup of your System and if something go wrong you can restore it.

I have quistions before unlocking and rooting my Xperia SP

[Q] Xperia z1 14.3.A.0.757 Vroot

Hi guys,
I have a xperia z1 running 4.4.2 14.3.A.757 and i was wondering if i could use Vroot running 4.4.2 to root my z1 or do i have to downgrade to 4.2.2 the open Vroot and start the root process.
also i was wondering if i could open root with many android and root with 4.4.2 rather than 4.2.2.
Have been trying to follow Shem's video on youtube, the root with may android binary method when i open the runme.bat file it says out of date?
Or is there a way when i can root using 4.4.2 without
-unlocking the bootloader
-downgrading
-loosing all user data.
Im a noob to all the root stuff haha!
thanks brandon

I don't think so.. And was it not vroot that sends information about your phone to China?
But you need to downgrade and then upgrade

PS, Don't worry about posting your QUESTION in the wrong section. I provided an ANSWER anyway, and asked the mods to move it to the QUESTION and ANSWER section on your behalf.
To be honest I haven't a clue! Haha, I followed shems video on YouTube to root with binary method and when it got to flashable zip on the sd card twrp didn't seem to recognise the zip so I have to start the phone up with no os.. Flashed stock rom with flashtool. Tried to root the other day with the root many android and opened the install.bat file and it said it can't run supersu because my phone was out of date?
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
There is absolutely no need to root the phone using bin4ry, root many android, kingo or any other method. Shems videos are overkill (IMHO) and have unnecessary steps
Just follow the link in my signature. 3 steps and you end up with a rooted KK Z1
Sweet thanks alot man!

flash from recovery - power off from main menu
flash 4.4.2 ftf kernel from many links here (or the rom you choose to run)
