Hello guys/girls.....I finally got sound working on my HTC Pure.....here is what I did....
1. Download and install: XDANDROID.2.2.AOSP.29.7.10.RC2.1
2. Download and extract: XDANDROID.19.8.10.system.ext2. Replace this System.ext2 file with one in Step 1 folder.
3. download and extract: linux-msm.201008261332. Replace ZImage and Modules...files with one in Step 1 folder.
4. download and extract: initrd-latest. Rename this file to initrd and replace it with the one in Step 1 folder.
5. Put all the files in the root of your SD card as explained on this thread: [SOUND!][19/08/10] XDAndroid - Topaz [2.1/2.2 RC2.1]
6. Start your HTC Pure and ENJOY......
I would like to thank all who has helped to make this possible.....
Thank you
Has anyone tried this?
has this helped anyone?
please post if this instructions are helpful or not
I'll try it now.
Will this play my music back or only speakerphone?
It will play music. It plays on mine
I also have topa 210 (Pure). I have found a way to ge a ringtone, but you would have to do the procedure after reboot. Also i have not found a way to get notifications or alarms yet. Hope I don't have to
1. boot into Andoroid
2. Open media scanner (You should be able to play music from your sdcard now!)
3. Using Astro file manager, navigate to sdcard/media/audio/ringtones
4. Select a ringtone you want to use (you can play it first).
5. Hold the File down until menu comes up
6. Select music options
7. Select set as ringtone
8. Enjoy!
If you look to see if your ringtones are selectable, they wil NOT be there. It will still say Silent, but the ringtone will still work. Try it out.
This is for Astro, but it may work with other programs
Tried the OP's and the post above me
Neither of them got ringtones or notifications working for me

Did you use Astro with my suggestion, or another file manager? What happened? Did you try to call the phone? It will say "set ringtone" after you select the ringtone, but after that there is no notifactation that it is set. If you tried calling the phone it should ring.
Once I'm in Astro and I'm in the music options menu, both of the options are greyed out.
I click 'set as ringtone' but it's greyed out and doesn't seem to work
Thanks! It worked on my Topaz! Yay
For step 4, it should be:
Download initrd-latest. Rename this file to initrd and replace it with the one in Step 1 folder. (you don't have to extract it)
Thank you all for making the sound works on xdandroid!

Are the builds different?
I can verify that I got a very favorable result with sound. I did find a difference with the Balsat and Glemson builds of the zimage and linux-msm.20100830xxxx.tar.gz builds. The glemson file seems smalle size and worked fine. The Balsat file would not boot. I was using a Linux ext2 partiton but have have had better luck with the windown only.
Thanks itout it works. The incomecall can rings now.

i would like to believe that both of them are different builds, but serve the same purpose. i am just guessing. i could be completely wrong
It worked
Finally a tip that I both managed to understand AND solve my increasingly irritating no-sound-problem.
Thanks a lot

how do i write files in taht directory? ( i downloaded es file explorer/astro file explorer. what should i do? step by step please
Use root explorer.the other 2 you used don't get write permission
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
how do i remove the sound if i had already flash the sound for my boot animation?
use root explorer to browse to /system/customise/resources/ and delete android_audio.mp3
or use adb in command prompt
Code:
adb shell
cd /system/customise/resources/
rm android_audio.mp3
you can always type "ls" after you do /system/customise/resources/ to look for the sound file.
thanks for the quick reply !
my boot animation will hang... but it still can be loaded into android.
any idea how to solve it? i change the framerate from 15 to 10 and it still hang ..
is it one you downloaded or you made? framerate 15 = 15/100th of a second, correct me if im wrong there.
I pasted the file into system->media and on boot the animation was lighting fast so i changed the value from 15 to 8 in that file in the zip, saved and pasted it back into system->media and now i get no boot animation. i then pasted it into data->local and still nothing
I have rooted my LG Optimus 2x and have tested it by installing apps only for rooted phones. My phone has a bootanimation from the Swiss carrier Swisscom which is getting on my nerves as it also plays some miserable music. I have downloaded a different bootanimation but whe I try to rename the old bootanimation it says "insuffisient permission"....
anyone can help out with this please? There is also a close animation when turning the phone off.
Much appreciated.
Although you have root permissions you still need to mount the directory that the bootanimation is in with read/write permissions. If you have Root explorer this can easily be done.

astro file cant' change the bootanimation!
u can use "root explorer"!
I'm not entirely sure but i think you dont need to have to change the orginal bootanimation.zip
If you put the new one in data/local/ that should work as well. You should try that before you change stuff around.
Search on market for bootanimation. I changed mine aswell.
Sent from my LG-P990
Do you need any further help? Or did you fix it
Make sure your bootanimation.zip only runs with 15fps and then put it to your sdcard.
Open up adb shell, and make sure you have root.
now use the following command to copy the new bootanimation to your phone:
cp /sdcard/bootanimation.zip /data/local/bootanimation.zip´
If your bootanimation runs with more than 15fps, you will have to make a flashable zip, and flash it to /system/media/bootanimation.zip
more info about bootanimations here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=922902
Hallo and sorry for the late reply. I was not able to change the bootanimation. I read that I need to change the name of the existing bootanimation.zip, name the new bootanimation.zip and just put it in the system/media using root explorer. is this correct? I do not think i have the knowledge to check the amount of fps and how to make a flashable zip in case its more than 15fps... sorry but it sounds a bit of rocket sience here..
I have found the bootaniation changer lite on Market.. is this something good? anyone tried it?
Your bootanimation does not need to be 15 fps. I have a 30 fps one in data/local and it works just fine.
hi guys, did anyone know how to get the boot sound back!! after flashing cyanogenmod 7 theres no boot sound ;-( you can also change the animation
so im sure there must be a way to add sound back too!! hope anyone knows the way and could tell me!!
Ok for those of you who want this feature i tell you how to get it!!
htcbootsound.rar contains the original htc startup sound. here we go
1. download and extract the htcbootsound.rar
2.you will get the bootsnd.sh file and the bootsound.zip put both on sd card
3.reboot phone into recovery mode and mount system first
4.then flash the bootsound.zip by install zip from sd if its done
5.reboot your phone
6.run the Terminal Emulator
7.write: su (allow superuser)
cd / sdcard (space after cd and / is important)
sh bootsnd.sh
reboot
from now you v got the htc original startup sound how cool is that!!
big thanx to kartik.ansal who teached me this!! let me know if you like this
I tried this, but still don't hear any sound on bootup. I searched many threads in many forums, but can't seem to get this to work. Is it just not possible on the Galaxy Mini? I can get boot animations to work, just not the sound.

go to system/media then look if there is the file poweron.ogg then rename it to android_audio.mp3
I had the same problem on mebitek rom, so renaming the file did the trick
good luck

Since you haven't mentioned what rom you use, so first check that the bootsound is not disabled in settings -> cm settings -> performance then scroll down.
if it isn't, let's do it again by renaming the bootsound file to poweron.ogg and give it the correct permissions rw-r--r--
this workaround looks foolish but who knows

just booted overcome rom 4.1 series 7 on p1000gsm , but i hate the music player they ported . i need the old stock player with notificarion bar control and lock screen widget , . . . . . and plz help this noob by guiding me thru installation ,
Download the Removed_Apps_v4.1.0 from the Overcome Thread (first page, first post).
Then extract the MusicPlayer.apk to your PC, connect the Tab via USB to your PC and copy the MusicPlayer.apk to the internal SD of your Tab.
Disconnect the USB connection. On your Tab, copy the MusicPlayer.apk to /system/app/ . For this, use a RootExplorer, e.g. the free ES File Explorer and enable first the Root Mode and second the write permissions for the file system in the settings. After copying, i changed the file permissions for MusicPlayer.apk to "rw- r-- r--" (long press on MusicPlayer.apk and then choose "file settings" or so, don't know in english), but just because all the other apps in /system/app/ are set in this way. Don't know, if it is necessary. But it works for me.

well man.thanks i almost flashed it back to stock , what rom are you using btw , do you know how to change the notification bar to stock , overcome's bar aint cool . . .
At the moment, i'm using Overcome 4.1.0. It works good for me, like the previous version of Overcome did.
You can change to stock theme, this includes the notification bar. Just download the Overcome_7_Series_v4.1.0_Stock_Theme_Patch_v2.zip from the Overcome thread and copy the zip to internal SD. Then boot into CWM and install zip from internal sd. Reboot and you have Overcome with stock theme.
