I had my Note 3 AT&T bricked and stuck in bootloop too, from Android 4.4 KitKat OTA upgrade too. The method linked below helped me to unbrick it, but note that it's based on the KitKat version leaked from AT&T in January, and it will not take the official OTA upgrade, nor can you downgrade from it to any lower version. Folks are working on a way to upgrade it to the official OTA, and independent work is done on rooting, I'm sure, but for now I'm stacked with the "leaked KitKat". Nevertheless it works very well, no issues with it whatsoever. Even my biggest complaint against version 4.3 - the GPS issue, is fixed now. Read more about this unbrick method at:

might be because there are no 4.4.3 note 3 there are 4.4.2 note 3 but if you are trying to downgrade the 4.4.2 nc2 ota it cant be done if you are trying to downgrade the leaked version use the mj5 restore in the general section

Yes and No
No you can not flash the complete 4.2.2 PCU package it will fail because you can't downgrade the bootloader
Yes because you can flash everything but the bootloader and it will take but if you accidentally take a OTA. you will brick your device.
but if you are able to unlock your bootloader then why would you want to downgrade. with a unlocked bootloader you will be able to root 4.4.2 with no issues
because when I was on 4.4, I had some battery consumption and heating issues also bluetooth was not perfect, I just wanted to make sure I have a way back To 4.2.2
also, not being able to downgrade the bootloader, in which way does this affect me going back to four point 4.2.2?
Your phone will work fine but like i said if you ever take a ota it will brick your phone

No. Once you start mixing bootloader versions with system file versions (i.e. 4.4.2 bootloader with 4.2.2 system files), RSD Lite won't work. You will have to use a command line and mfastboot.exe to manually flash each partition.
And I actually tried to run 4.2.2 (post camera update) system files with a 4.4.2 bootloader and it would not boot; however, 4.4 system files do work with a 4.4.2 bootloader.
This has actually been discussed at great length and detail in this forum and A LOT of people were bricking their phones playing around with bootloader versions, just like you are talking about doing. At one point there was a sticky dedicated to it, but its since disappeared from the board for some reason.
To put it simply, please don't start mixing bootloader versions with system files. If you like 4.2.2, don't upgrade to 4.4.2. If you are on 4.4, then you can still downgrade to 4.2.2 (post camera update version). Do that and stay there. But if you upgrade to 4.4.2, don't fool around with it and start trying to downgrade. There is no point, and you will likely end up bricking your phone.
It's your phone, so do what you want, but you have been warned (by someone with personal experience by the way). If you do brick it, please don't start another "OMG! HELP ME!! I BRICKED MY PHONE!!" thread. There's plenty of those already floating around here. :good:
I'm looking to probably upgrade from my GS3 to the GS5. I've read some of the posts on here about rooting, but I'm still a bit confused. It seems that root is only available for 4.4.2, but then you can't keep root and upgrade to 5.0.1. Is that correct?
Also, could anyone point me to a thread that lays out the root method for the phone? I see a lot of people talking ABOUT the thread existing, but no actual links to the thread.
Thanks in advance!

Note that OTA 5.0 just got pushed by AT&T and if you take it, there is currently no way to root or downgrade to 4.4.2 to use towelroot. In fact if you try to downgrade after the 5.0 OTA, you will end up bricking the phone. I'm sure devs around are working on finding a way to root the OTA, but as of today there isn't a way. There is an alternate method using FireFlash which is in beta to install 5.0 on a rooted 4.4.4. Note that if you are just about to buy a S5, it might be preloaded with 5.0 which until probably some time in the future is not rootable.
I would suggest delaying your upgrade from S3 to S5 until someone figures out how to root 5.0 OTA.

Gotcha. I'm not gonna not upgrade simply because root may not be possible yet if it's already 5.0, but that's good to know. Thanks.
So here's the backstory, about a year ago I bought a fairly new Samsung S5 (SM-G900A) off of swappa.com. It's always been on Straight Talk, so I have never been able to receive AT&T updates. My problem with getting it to Android 5.0 is that my phone needs to be at 4.4.4. I can't find any firmware out there to upgrade from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4 since AT&T hasn't published their firmware. Any assistance/help/tutorials in finding a way to get my phone up to 4.4.4 would be much appreciated.

Are you rooted? Do you want root? 4.4.4 was not much difference from 4.4.2.

It's not rooted and I don't need root access. If root is an absolute must than I wouldn't have a problem rooting my device. I wanted 4.4.4 so I can upgrade to the stock AT&T 5.0 ROM.

Read and follow the instructions in post 1. READ THE NOTES SECTION at the bottom of post 1. You'll need to root with towel root first then you'll be able to flash up to 5.0. I don't know if any way for you to do it regular as i have never had straight talk.
I'm not very hacky or what you call it, my know-how in this region is not very good, so I'm hoping someone here is able to help me.
When I was in USA I bought myself a AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 (G900A), paid it off and had it service unlocked (called AT&T and they unlocked it for me). Then I went back to Ukraine and now I want to to be rooted... and have lollipop.
I don't know how to upgrade it to lollipop... Kies and the phone says I have the latest firmware and I cant get it updated. On top of that, I've read in posts here that if I update before rooting it, I might be in trouble later on the road.
Towelroot V3 says that my phone is not supported so I can't root it that route...
I've read tutorials here about rooting with the ND3 update... first of all, I don't know what the ND3 update is and how to obtain it since I can't update my phone OTA in Ukraine.
How do I go about this?
More information about my phone (since I learned more information about this process).
Kernel date is Tuesday July 22 2014... towelroot is said to work for any before June 3, 2014... this is probably why my phone isn't supported.
Also, is it true that Android 5.0 removes the SD Card functionality???
Well, I got it rooted... thanks to muniz_ri!
I just went ahead and risked it, not knowing what ND3 or NG3 was.
My next step is flashing it to Android 5+ ... that is if it doesn't remove the SD Card functionality
Well, I found these instructions on flashing my G900A to a pre-rooted stock lollipop... the problem I'm having is with FireFlash... I can't seem to find that app anywhere.

Thank you!!!!!
Wait, I'm confused - you say you were able to downgrade your G900A to a rooted 4.x state? I thought root was impossible once you take the 5.0 update?

You can only if you didn't take on the 5.0 OC4 bootloader and kept OA1
I didn't take the 5.0 update since I am out of the country and OTA updates don't come here... but I did have the NG3 update... so I downgraded to ND3, rooted and went back to NG3... then I flashed a prerooted 5.0 stock ROM with OA1 (I think...) and now I'm using it...
Looking for the latest stock rom G920AUCS5DPJ1 released on October 26, 2016 by AT&T for security update and fixes.
Thanks for your help.
+1 to this request
I just got an update today, but it only took me to G920AUCS5DPI1 and no update is available. AT&T's support page says the latest version is G920AUCS5DPJ1. I'm bone stock, so I have no idea what the delay is...

I don't believe there's ever been a way to root MM at all on the S6.
If you really need root then you must go back to Lollipop.
Hi! How can we go back to lollipop? so easy as flash lollipop stock ATT version with odin?
PD: I did more reading and I realized that I may be stuck :....( Having this G920AUCS5DPJ1 S6 6.0.1 version I am unable to even flash TWRP. ... so I guess right now this phone is unrooteable and un TWRPable???
I confirm: once you get the phone on a newer version, you can't downgrade it. I tried to go from 6.0.1 to 5.1.1 flashing with ODIN. The ODIN process went well, but after the phone took the older load, it got stuck in the ANDROID screen
To get it back to life i had to flash again its original stock version at 6..0.1
