Is stock 4.2 this bad??? - Verizon LG G2

So, my g2 was unrooted for all of 2 days or so when I got it before rooting and at least debloating. I have a replacement coming, so I'm back too 100% ota stock. So basically, this is my first taste of an LG g2 running 4.2 .2 100% stock. Only a few app, just leaving it bare and holy cow it's bad lol. I get a system ui fc once an hour. Pages load slow as Hell..Just...so...laggy... I've had at least several apps just randomly close. No force close message, they just closed and I'm back in my home screen. maybe because I ran 4.4 for a week, i got spoiled but this is terrible lol

You've got something more going on with that device. 4.2.2 is not that bad, even out of the box with all its bloat intact. There's more you're not telling.
Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk

I have had my G2 stock the whole time and I have never seen a fc. However, my web pages do load quite slowly most of the time.

I have 2 completely stock g2s one is mine and one is my wife's and neither of us have seen any of what the op is talking about. Only "lag" I have seen is in the animations.
There's definitely more going on then the op saying his stock. What else did you change? A stock g2 does not have any of those issues.
Sent from my VS980 4G using xda app-developers app

Stock 4.2.2 was pretty smooth even with all its bloat. No fc whatsoever. Maybe something went wrong in the process of flashing back to full stock.

The only fc I've ever had was on opera mobile browsers. Stock, unrooted since day 1 and the phone is fast and smooth. Great battery life (30+ hrs.)
Maybe you jacked something up. Or have a rogue app.

QFT! I ran stock for months and I'm certainly in the power (ab)user category. Stock on this phone is EXTREMELY stable. I haven't seen an FC even with any of the changes I made to the phone when I was running stock.

Phones getting replaced because the speaker went bad. There's not more to tell. Seriously, went back to 11 A took the OTA to 12 B. only apps I installed were essential ones that I use daily. no tweaking, no nothing. This is the first time I was on 4.2 stock and I thought there's no way this is normal. Normally I would've already wiped everything started over but that would be pointless. Good to know this is not normal lol

Do a full wipe

I would try a factory data reset, clearly there's something going on. Or at least do a rebot and restart, maybe unisntall/readd your accounts.
Stock G2 has some lag but its extremely stable.

[ROM][WIP] MIUI-ish *Lots more to do*

MIUI-ish
Hey everyone!! Trying my hand at making a ROM again. Keep in mind that I haven't done this for about 2 years haha. Hope you guys like what you see so far. I have only been working on this for the last 3 days. I'm going to be honest, my main reason for making this is because I'm tired of seeing people complain. I actually almost felt guilty and thinking I haven't contributed enough to this community yet so this is what I came up with. Just so everyone knows, this ROM is going to take a while still to complete and it will NEVER be an actual MIUI Build. This ROM will also never get released unless it get's the "go ahead" from mtmichaelson. I will explain why below.
What is MIUI-ish?
MIUI-ish will be a nearly COMPLETE overhaul of Gingervolt v2.0. There will be a lot of themeing done and a lot of apk replacements to try to get this ROM as close to MIUI as possible! Sometime soon, I will also be looking for testers. If you are chosen to test, MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE TESTING! Keep in mind, this is not just simply a theme, this is taking a ROM and completely overhauling it and changing virtually everything except maybe some of the apks, and the kernel. I'm attaching some screenshots of what it SHOULD look like when completed. I look forward to releasing this as soon as possible for you guys. Once Mt gives me the ok, I will start on it again.

It would be great if you could add the "CONFIG_NETFILTER_XT_TARGET_TCPMSS" in the Check /proc/config.gz part of the kernel for more consistent MSS clamping on WIFI tether as per this forum http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/issues/detail?id=1368
I had to lower the MTU to a final 1410 on my W7 laptop & W7 tower to get consistent connections.

Toggling automatic brightness should get the lights to work properly, at least until the next reboot . You can also set them to be always off now the menu to tweak automatic brightness settings.

Yeah the last release had this custom light level. I'm on 1.0 and the only draw back for me is the mass storage not working. I would never use this ordinarily as I use es file to transfer anything but use USB to watch movies at work.

With 1.0 I don't have any 3G/4G connectivity problems, but the front facing camera doesn't work with Skype. Kind of important for me, I use my Skype a lot. I'll give it a shot when the camera works.

No, but it's a good idea to be rooted so you can make a backup of you system in case of failure.

Switching runtime between Dalvik and ART

I read about the inclusion of the new ART runtime in 4.4, so I went into my Nexus 5 and enabled the setting. First reboot is supposed to take longer as the apps are prepared.

Unfortunately, my Nexus 5 did not recover from this and was stuck in a boot loop. Logcat showed a bunch of mm-camera errors.
I don't know how to switch the runtime back to dalvik. I can see the phone is loading libart.so, and if I could switch back to livdvm.so it might recover.
If anyone knows how to do this, it might be helpful to others.
I'm just going to restore the factory image to get the phone back.

Would it be wise to uninstall everything and re-install the programs with ART. Or does it do that for you?

ART does it all for you.
When you enable it will shut down your phone, then when you restart it will compile all the apps as it boots, this can take a few minutes and is battery intensive so make sure your phone has a good charge before you make the switch.

Anybody tested out the kernel yet? Any good/bad reviews? Im itching to try it out so bad, but I tried the other kernel in the G2 development thread by Wooster (i think) and it jacked my phone up a lil bit. Wouldnt officially connect to Sprint network and wouldnt let me update my profite while I was on it. So I'm waiting to hear some feedback before I try this one out to save me the headache. A good custom kernel is the last piece of the puzzle I need to be totally happy on a STOCK ROM for damn near the first time ever lol. Loving my Xposed tweaks now...just need that custom kernel to make it officially official lol.
Does anyone know if this helps with disabling the Screen Adaptive brightness? To get rid of the low brightness flicker while browsing web pages.
I'm using it and I really haven't had any issues. I download No Frills CPU and it's clocked at 2.496 GHz max and 300 MHZ min with ondemand governor. I do see an improvement on my battery but that's with slight usage. That's all the info I have for now hope this helps:good:

Im itching to try it out so bad, but I tried the other kernel in the G2 development thread by Wooster (i think) and it jacked my phone up a lil bit. Wouldnt officially connect to Sprint network and wouldnt let me update my profite while I was on it. So I'm waiting to hear some feedback before I try this one out to save me the headache. A good custom kernel is the last piece of the puzzle I need to be totally happy on a STOCK ROM for damn near the first time ever lol. Loving my Xposed tweaks now...just need that custom kernel to make it officially official lol.

Lol not necessarily. Just might mean not enough people have tried it yet. Nobody (with an LS980) complained about wootevers build either and it jacked up my phone when I flashed it.

Do we have a stock kernel to revert to if needed?

I tried it last night then did a benchmark and my scores went from the 36ks to barely 18 splashed my old backup

Frequencies are handled properly now. CPU isn't handled to clock up all cores to max when benchmarking applications are run anymore. OEMs do this a lot and it's considered cheating. That's why the Nexus 5 doesn't score as high in bechmarks, because AOSP doesn't cheat.

I haven't tried it, but can camera not be made a user app with titanium backup, then greenified?
Just tossing out an idea.
Anyway, yeah....haven't had that issue, but yes....I've read about it.

It's not the camera though. It's a camera wakelock. Only way to get rid of it is to reboot.

This is a pretty huge list actually. 4.4.2 was pretty stable as is. I'm excited for any changes.

Luckily I don't have the camera bug but I do have that wifi bug.
Would be good update!

Google can't do enough to get rid of these damn wakelocks. Can't wait for this update. Also the camera focus fix should be great. Hopefully they do SOMETHING to fix the damn wlan_rx wake lock that just zaps 5-10% of my battery every day for no reason.

Just a question if I may. When the update is released I'm guessing we will all need to reroot and unlock our bootloaders again? At reroot. As I am running stock rooted with elementalx kernel, would there be any risks if/when I update? Sorry the nexus is different then my old Xperia Play.

Your device stays unlocked. You will need to root again. You may need the stock kernel to update. No problem if the build is rooted for updating.
