The camera wakelock bug that eats people's batteries.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

OK I'll be the one to ask it... Is the FCC compliance the sprint spark enabler

hey guys, wanna bet they'll not fix the hiss sound in video recording and low exposure in low light conditions ?!

I haven't tried it, but can camera not be made a user app with titanium backup, then greenified?
Just tossing out an idea.
Anyway, yeah....haven't had that issue, but yes....I've read about it.

It's not the camera though. It's a camera wakelock. Only way to get rid of it is to reboot.

No matter if its only a small update for bug fixes or a major overhaul.. An update always excites me (or rather us) ..

Great update if this turns out to be true.

This is a pretty huge list actually. 4.4.2 was pretty stable as is. I'm excited for any changes.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Luckily I don't have the camera bug but I do have that wifi bug.
Would be good update!
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Google can't do enough to get rid of these damn wakelocks. Can't wait for this update. Also the camera focus fix should be great. Hopefully they do SOMETHING to fix the damn wlan_rx wake lock that just zaps 5-10% of my battery every day for no reason.

Just a question if I may. When the update is released I'm guessing we will all need to reroot and unlock our bootloaders again? At reroot. As I am running stock rooted with elementalx kernel, would there be any risks if/when I update? Sorry the nexus is different then my old Xperia Play.

Your device stays unlocked. You will need to root again. You may need the stock kernel to update. No problem if the build is rooted for updating.

Switching runtime between Dalvik and ART

I read about the inclusion of the new ART runtime in 4.4, so I went into my Nexus 5 and enabled the setting. First reboot is supposed to take longer as the apps are prepared.

Unfortunately, my Nexus 5 did not recover from this and was stuck in a boot loop. Logcat showed a bunch of mm-camera errors.
I don't know how to switch the runtime back to dalvik. I can see the phone is loading libart.so, and if I could switch back to livdvm.so it might recover.
If anyone knows how to do this, it might be helpful to others.
I'm just going to restore the factory image to get the phone back.

I was wondering about that. I doubt many people will find this setting without explicitly looking for it. It's under developer options, so I thought it was more of a developer topic.

That's the post I read originally. I asked about it in the comments there too. Looks like I was the only one with that problem. I had some weird FCs on the camera this morning, and I'm stock (well, rooted), so I wonder what's different about mine that made it not work.

The more emails they get, the more incentive to fix it!

I flicked the switch to ART and was amazed at the speed improvements. I have only come across one app that would crash (asphalt 8). I am leaving it on, and if developers want me to buy their games, they better expect to support ART.
Would it be wise to uninstall everything and re-install the programs with ART. Or does it do that for you?
I switched to ART a couple of hours ago. Didn't need to reinstall anything.

ART does it all for you.
When you enable it will shut down your phone, then when you restart it will compile all the apps as it boots, this can take a few minutes and is battery intensive so make sure your phone has a good charge before you make the switch.

christianpost is full of click bait articles that have no basis in reality. They literally have daily stories going back a few months saying the nexus 10 (2013 edition) has been confirmed for release on a specific date (which changes every time it passes).
not saying 4.4.1 is not coming definitively, just saying that news source is worthless.

Agreed. christianpost and ibtimes are the two biggest google news spammers I've seen. I wish google news had a way to filter out specific sites. Again, 4.4.1 might be coming (and probably is). But I usually disregard both of the above sites as well as any other news site that quotes one of them as sources.
if there was an update coming, we'd see it on a more major site like android central, android police, droid life or even engadget... not to mention any posts from anyone in the know on G+
just my thoughts.
While I do agree with you all there is one thing that makes me think this is true. LLabTooFeR is very accurate when it comes to releases and if he stated it was coming to the HTC One soon then the nexus would get it first. He is a very reputable and accurate informer when it comes to updates.

4.4.1 will likely be released in the future. "Soon" might be a few mibutes, hours, days, weeks, or months.

Agreed, Football is generally right on when it comes to timing of releases for HTC devices. Did he say when 4.4.1 was coming or did he just say soon?
It doesn't take a genius to know 4.4.1 is going to be released for the N5 at some point. Nothing any news site so far has posted has any real inside info as to the date. So we will just have to wait and see.
LLabTooFeR
Is the man now behind the leaks. I was in the HTC One threads for months and he was the first at it. Football has semi retired from that.. I see LLabTooFeR putting them up now.

Changes I noticed in 4.4.1 OTA :D

As you most likely know, Android 4.4.1 OTA link has been found
So I did the update, and would like to share the changes I found:
1 - Transparent decor on lockscreen by default
No Google Experience Launcher though =/
2 - White instead of blue on launcher (Scrollbar on home screen, widgets and apps bar in drawer)
3 - Settings icon change on tile layout
4 - Slight camera improvements? (Might be placebo effect )
5 - Buttons changed on some things (Either that or I don't notice for that till now xP)(Look on set wallpaper button)
And that's it for now.. feel free to point out anything I missed
Things I missed:

Turn off google location service. There is an option under settings>location.I think it has an G icon (same as google search app's)
If it doesn't do the trick for you, just enable GPS and turn off mobile location (GPS doesn't use google services).
Some users have reported using GPS gives better battery life compared to mobile network location.Since the phone only turns GPS on when an app requests it.But google location service just keeps requesting your location no matter what.
Also enable mock locations in dev options. It seems to have reduced amount of wakelocks caused by RILJ etc. for me.Not sure if it would help with your problem but either way + for battery life
At first don't spam a dev thread with a link to your question!
Provide a screenshot of your wakelocks not only your alarms and provide more information about your setup!
EDIT: Did you even bother to search Google or XDA for this wakelock? Because there are so many threads about it.
