[Q] DNLA with GPE - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good day,
When I tried a sense rom, I noticed that from the gallery, it was really easy to send a picture or a video to my DVD player, via DLNA, and play it on the TV. I found that to be pretty useful if I want to watch something on my TV that has a format that my DVD player can't recognize but the phone can.
I was wondering if there was a way to do the same on a GPE Rom. I like to use QuickPIC as gallery app but I went through the options and I don't see anything DLNA related.
Does anyone one DLNA on a GPE Rom that could share how it needs to be configured?
Thank you.

[Q] video and allshare on ics??

So I've been on ics for a while now and I love it. But one of the things I used a bit in the Samsung roms was allshare to watch movies or TV shows which are on my media center pc. I'm wondering what is the best way to go about doing this on the ics roms. I'd guess it would be a similar method to what you'd do on cm7. So does anyone have any suggestions?
And in also wondering what are the best video players to try for ics? I don't mind playing for a great featured player. Most of my stuff is in avi, mp4, mkv etc.
Just thought I'd ask.

The Allshare feature should work with all apps that support dlna, try some of them out on the market (keyword: DLNA).
For playing videos I can recommend MX Video. They have shortly released an ICS update. It's working flawlessly on my (soon to be)-CM9 Build 3.
Is there an app that is free w/ no ads?
If i backed up all my apps from ginger and restore allshare will it work?

[Q] AllShare streaming to TV

Hi all!
I already have a DLNA compatible Philips TV and I run 2 differnen DLNA server apps on my Win 7 PC, Windows Media Player 12 and TVersity. That way I can browse and play almost all my movies on my PC from the TV interface.
Now I just got my first Galaxy S.
Used, with stock Android 2.2. First thing, I rooted it and prepare to install CM 10.1.
But before removing stock I want to learn how DLNA works on the phone.
I took some photos and videos that I want to stream to the TV.
The stock AllShare would sometimes display my TV as selectable target, sometimes not.
When I could select the TV I could always stream photos to the TV but only sometimes videos.
The same happened with Skifta.
I will also test some other DLNA players such as MediaHouse, iMediaShare, Beam, BubbleUp.
But so far my results seem unpredicatable and unreliable.
I searched the web and XDA but found very little.
Can somebody share their experiences of streaming media from Galaxy S ot a TV?
Working configurations?
Would somebody have an install apk to AllShare?
The Samsung support pages recommend installing their AllShare server software. Is that important? MWP and Tversity should be compatible, or maybe not?

AFAIK AllShare isnt supported by CyanogenMod... AllShare works only on Stock Gingerbread Roms with the standard framework.
You have to use apps like imediashare or something. The Streaming works very well with stock... The only problems are the free apps which are provided in the market in my opinion. the most of them have a really annoying UI but it works. music, photos are working fine. for videos i cant say anything since i didnt try to stream movies.

For some reason the default video player cannot stream to DLNA (at least mine doesn't). Grab iMediaShare from Play Store, works like a charm. The paid version lets you even stream videos directly from YouTube!
Hope that helps.
Thanks for Reply

Thanks for the reply, but this doesn't work for me, why does the standard video player not work it's ridiculous don't you think, they include a feature on a high end device that isn't working.
??????
Still no answers for this?????
Got the same problem
I got the same problem when trying to stream any video I recorded with my HTC to XBMC-DLNA player through the stock video player. Other players seem to do the work with no issues. Any news on this?
same here. imediashare is working, htc player not working, htc lies about dlna in the spec.

[Q] Can't stream videos over wifi to LG 55LM620S

Streaming music or pictures over wifi to my lg 55lm620s works like a charm, but everytime i choose a video i recorded it says it cannot be played, error 714. The TV can handle mp4 hd videos easily, so that cant be the problem. Anyone here had the same issue?

Well, as I read on other forums the TV itself has problems with the edited mp4 files, (maybe thats the case here as well) but some mp4 files are played without any problem.
I would recommend you to update the TV's firmware; or try another TV if its possible... I bet one of your buddies has other kind of Smart TV (samsung maybe)
So I guess its your TV's limitation.
Sorry
The same on Samsung tv 40d6530 . Video not working. Picures and music work well. Anyway a workaround is Imediashare program.
Sent from my HTC One dual sim

oh so you have the dual sim... interesting I am not sure if theres any differences...but for example.. I have a SAMSUNG UE46ES6300 and its working just fine from the default gallery...:S
I had the HTC One X before and it worked pretty well, so it cant be the tv whos causing the trouble. TV and phone are both on the latest updates.

they are no differencies except dual sim, but video share to tv not working with any rom.
So i just tried Twonky Mobile and with that free app it works like a charm. Videos, Pictures and Music beam super fast to tv and also you can stream facebook videos directly from the facebook app to the tv.

Can anyone help?

So my dad has this love for playing movies on the TV with his new tablets. I told him he might as well buy the Chromecast because it will work wirelessly and he doesn't need to go across the room to pause and play (he had to use HDMI cables).
Anyway, I didn't know til we got the thing that mirroring is only supported on a small amount of devices. I got it to work on my phone because I'm fully rooted with a KitKat rom on my G2, which is actually a supported device. But my dad has a Hisense tablet running 4.2.2 (latest update). I'm a little nervous about breaking it to him that he actually can't stream movies from his favorite app or mirror his screen.
He uses the app Show Box, I'm sure a lot of people know about it. Its basically free movies. I was wondering if there was an app like MX Player that has Chromecast support. I.e. he can stream movies with this app, and the video player that is playing the movie can cast it.
Or if there is a workaround to mirror the screen on a 4.2.2 device, hopefully doesn't require root.
Our internet isn't too fast, so we're not too hip on downloading movies and having to wait forever to stream them locally. Unfortunately, that might be the best option though.
Thanks!

Found an app called Web Video Caster. Does exactly what I was looking for. When you play a video in an app, just choose the option.
