Hi i am currently using the basic motorola charger and it feels like tis really slow. I know that the note 2 can handle 2amp chargers or more. Can anyone reccomend a fast car charger and if neccesary a fast charge cable to use in the car. I have a toyota which only charges while the car is on so the faster it charges the better. Thanks for your help

I use my nook charger in the car:
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/p/car-charging-kit/20093219
It's fast and almost flush with the lighter jack.
I have the anker 24w 2 port charger. Charges pretty good speed. 12 buck on amazon. It has smart port so it'll charge any smart phone including iPhone iPad etc..

I have a simple usb charger that I bought at Walgreens for 5 bucks. Charges pretty quick. I have a good quality usb cable as well.
Almoust all car chargers charge 5.0v and 1A so is half from the wall charger amount

If only "pretty quick" and "pretty good speed" were reliable metrics to go by.
I've yet to find a car charger that will get more than 1.1amps on the meter. Max is 1.8.
1.1amps is enough to charge the phone "pretty quick" normally, but not if it is loaded down. Once I get GPS, bluetooth audio and Torque Pro going at the same time, I find that 1.1amps will actually result in a slow drain. I use an inverter and a stock wall charger which keeps the phone charging even at full use. I've yet to find a aftermarket car charger that will do the job.

Hi,
I have got a generic car charger I got off Ebay which seems to have a minor issue. When using GPS and charging in the car, the charge continues to drop...although slower than if it wasn't being charged. Basically means that eventually, despite being charged all the time, the battery will go flat when using GPS. I assume this is because the car charger is behaving as though its being charged via a USB port rather than mains.
Is this a problem with all car chargers...or just because I got the cheapest car charger I could get on eBay?
Would buying the official Samsung car charger provide a more efficient and quicker charging?
Im curious about this as well. I use a cheap charger and it seems to "maintain" the current charge, but doesnt actually charge.

Mine was dropping one percentage point every 15 minutes or so. If I was running low on battery before getting in the car, I probably wouldn't get very far using the GPS
you guys need to get a HIGH amp car charger
i purchased a 2Amp charger and it works perfectly
average old (free) included car chargers are usually rated at 450 mAh or less
translation, you use the battery faster than it can charge it back
basically you need charger that guarantees 1 Amp (1000 mAh) or more for it to properly work in the car, meanwhile using the GPS and Bluetooth streaming
i picked up a cheap duracell brand car charger from the local frys store before embarking on my 4 hour journey from Houston to Dallas, i had music playing and gps with screen brightness at 100%
no issues for me
I use a Motorola charger, 950 mah. Works find for me. Got it for $5 on Amazon. It's not a USB adapter charger, but it gets the job done.

Hope you had that phone in front of your A/C otherwise the back cover probably would have melted.
the one i'm using was originally made for BlackBerries
There's a thread somewhere about modding your car USB charger charger cable by linking the data parts to make it think it's mains and allowing a full 1amp to come through.
Can anyone link to a reliable 1amp on Amazon or something?

I've just got one of these from Amazon...
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002SKF654/ref=oss_product
Seem to do the trick so far, rated at 1A and on a brief test this morning on the way to work actually charged the phone with NAV and GPS running.
The Samsung I had bought previously did show as charging from 'AC' (so D+ and D- shorted) but was only rated at 750mA which clearly wasn't quite enough.
I had one from Belkin, bought for my old iPhone, it works really well with the Nexus S, even with the GPS always on.
Most of the ipad chargers are rated at 2 amp. Get one with a usb connection and use your own usb cable. Kensington makes one in a micro format that hides completely in the lighter outlet. Works great for me.

I have read countless threads and looked at many chargers and I just can't seem to find a 2a car and a 2a home charger. I just ordered this charger and this cable and it just doesn't work above 700ma. When I use the stock cable I get to 1300mah for a sec and then about 900 steady. This is on both ports. Someone please help me before I lose it! The only one that works at 1500mah is the cable and charger that came with my phone.

Thanks in advance.
Well, I can say from repeated certainty that this 6' cable charges at the same rate as the stock cable but is actually nice.

Also, my Qmadix car charger with dual 2.1A ports does very near stock AC levels when charging 1 device. My results are in the mega 2A car charger thread, but that's a spendy charger.

I saw a cable at Best Buy which is pretty nice, it has El Wire that flashes quickly(battery at 0-65%), slow (battery at 66-99%) and turns off when the battery is full. Would that cable be okay to use to charge my phone?

go on the google play store and buy the nexus 7 2A charger. im using that one for my note 2 and its working flawlessly.
I have a cheap gas station 2 port usb car charger rated at 2amp for one port and 1amp for the other. Works great and I think it cost maybe 10 bucks. My phone charges at well over 1300mah in the car using a cheap usb cable I got at walgreens or some ****

I just went to Walgreens also. They have 2 usb port car chargers that charge one port at 2.1amp and the other at 1amp. It was only 10$. They also have a 2.1 amp wall charger as well.

I'm also looking for 2A replacement... How's the charging time compare to the stock Note 2 charger?
how do you measure the output while the device is charging? Is there an app to test how much juice is coming in real time?
I use a 2A HP Touchpad charger in my living room and a T-Mobile branded 3A dual USB charger in my bedroom (see links below). The T-Mobile charger charges my Note2 from 9% to 100% in less than 2 hours when I only use 1 of the USB ports. I'm not sure what the rate is when both ports are used. I've had this for a couple years and use it to charge (individually and simultaneously) my phones and tablets without any problem.

2 Amps. Extra USB port. Fixed wire (so you don't lose it). Bought it in October and it works awesome.
$12.89. It's the best option out there, IMO (aside from the stock one).

I have that one, super slim profile so it looks like its part of your car instead of something plugged into your cigarette lighter. Works like a charm.
Just thought I'd share something simple that helps if ur charging ur phone in the car. I've noticed a lot of chargers charge at 1 amp. Seems like it took for ever to charge my phone in the car. I recently bought a 2.1 amp charger for $10 and the charging difference is huge. 6-7 % in 10 minutes with full brightness and gps on. Just thought I'd pass this info on. Sometimes it's the simple things we overlook..

There is a lot more to it than just that. Many actual 2 amp + battery chargers refuse to charge at the full 1.9 amp. Apparently the stock samsung charger gives off a certain resistance between the data terminals. Some cheap usb cables drop the resistance to where it will not charge at full 1.9 even with the correct adapter.
I ended up soldering some resistors in my car charger and replacing the 2 wire usb cable with a 4 wire usb cable that I had laying around. It now charges at the full 1.9 amps. It's rated for 2 amps.
Found all the info here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2274321

thanks for pointing out the amps primo.. went and got 2 amp charger from biglots for 8$..much better.. was using a very old one and it was worthless.. also using factory cable instead of aftermarket made huge difference
I charge using external batteries...most of the time. I take it that using the correct cable would make a large difference as well
I use Monoprice PID 10239, works great
edit: scratch that, monoprice PID 10239 has a 3 amp fuse which blew when my gf tried to charge her iPhone at the same time as my GS4.
search TopG charger on Amazon for a more compact, fuseless 4.4A car charger. It's $9 and Prime eligible. Fuses in car chargers are pointless since the cigarette lighter receptacle is already fused to 10 or 15 amps in your car.
I bought a car charger from a Chinese eBay vendor and my phone charges from <5% to 50% in roughly 30 minutes.
I actually built my own charger that I hard wired into my car and I love it. I had a snap fish desk charger that crapped out on me, so I bought a lm2596 adjustable power supply for a couple bucks on eBay. Wired that up to the snap fish cable, adjusted the voltage and away I went. The module has a 3 amp capacity so it charges my phone or tablet quickly.

i'm using one of these but the charging keeps cutting in and out. i think i may have fudged up the wiring, i wired it to an add-a-fuse but i may need to just wire it directly.
I would keep the fuse in there. You never know when these cheap electronics will crap out and could potentially start a fire. I would make sure your connections are secure. To me it sounds like loose worrying or a bad unit. I used one of those in girlfriends car, works great-I put a switch in there to cut power if not being used.
I have 4 of these. I love them. I use them with oem Samsung cables and get full charging power on 2 devices.

Yea. Those are good. I have 2 of the car chargers and one of the wall chargers. Do fast charge in car and at wall on both Nexus and S6. No problems so far. Was on sell again the other day.
Dies anyone use the Anker 5-Port USB C as a charger for their phone? Is it capable of charging rapidly? As fast as the original LG charger?
Sent from my Nexus 5x
I actually have one of these and the PowerCore+ 20100 USB-C, which I highly recommend. I feel like the 5-port charger charges the phone a few minutes slower than the LG, but the rapid charge still works. If you need a battery pack the PowerCore+ can charge my phone at least 5 times on one charge. I charged my Nexus and 2 iPhones the other day and it only used 30% of the battery.
I use the 5 port charger to charge my phone, my Nook HD+, my 3DS, Microsoft Band, and my battery pack, and it still does rapid charge.
I finally bought the Anker 5 Port USB C charger and I can definitely recommend this one as it charges my 5X at almost the same speed as the LG charger. Plus,I can charge my other usb devices simultaneosly
Sent from my Nexus 5x
I don't have the version with the C port, but I do have a couple of the Anker 5-port chargers. Using a in-spec USB C to A cable, I get 2.35 amps out of the 5-port charger hooked to my 5X. The OEM charger is rated 3.0 amps, but I don't have a tester for USB C. I would assume it is close to that 3.0 rating. Either way the Anker is pretty close so charge time will only be slightly longer.
I have some more test results in my Slow charger thread.
Overall I'd say you can't go wrong with Anker products. I've now used their chargers, hubs, and card reader. All their products have been quality pieces.
Anker is great. However I do not need a charger like that as all my devices will be scattered on the desktop.I bought a great 4-port USB Charging Station from "ipely" on Amazon. .My honey 6P,iPad3,Kindle,bluetooth headphone could be charged at the same time and everything organized. That is great I think.
