Android OS goes over my data limit?? - Verizon LG G2

Hello. Recently, my data allowance has been surpassed. I was confused as to how that was possible. I went to check my data usage on my phone and it showed that Android OS has used 2.04GB of data usage out of my 4GB allowance! This is outrageous and unjust for Verizon to charge me for data I did not use!

Can anyone help? I just got this phone. I checked Google backup and all that crap and nothing that would use a ton of data is set! I have my calender, Gmail, contacts, and appdata set and that is all. I was in class today and I haven't used my phone in an hour at least, then I receive a text stating I've gone over; later checking showed I had gone over only 10MB, but it was in my pocket! Further investigation showed that Android has been using all of my data.

Google + 30% (or so) cpu usage.

Hi there.
I recently bought a moto x (att, although I use it in Argentina, should have chosen tmo for bootloader unlock I guess...).
From time to time (after some reboots or after a night of being in the charger, with wifi normally), I find it kind of hot.
Using OS monitor I saw that Google+ was using around 30% cpu (didn't notice if there were notifications or something).
When I open google+ it is kinda slow and normally has unread notifications in the bell.
If I swipe it off the recent app list, it gets fixed, until the next time it happens.
I tried wiping g+ data to no avail.
I now have set better battery stats and watchdog lite to monitor it more closely.
My phone is rooted on 4.4 and with xposed framework (attached picture for modules). I have now left only gravity box enabled just for the sake of it.
Any ideas? Googling around I saw some old posts of people with this issue but I think it was from 2012

do you use g+ for photo backup? That would be my first guess, though it shouldn't drain forever, only until photos are uplaoded.
I use it, but if I take photos, I don't see that much cpu use, I think.
Then again, I am using the option for smaller quality, if the phone does the conversion...
I will run some tests

It was not location sharing or auto backup.
No idea what it was, but it is gone after removing the updates from the app and returning to the version that comes with att's 4.4 rom

[Q] Problem with mobile data

Hi
I have a Moto G with the 2 sim slots occupied and my problem is this

As you can see, every 10 seconds I have an app using the mobile data. And because my provider rates each block of data of 100 kB, in a matter of days, it completely dries out my 500 MB plan..
Is there anyway of discovering what app is making this?
There's an app on Play that will monitor apps data usage called My Data Manager - Data Usage. It's free so you could give that a shot.
I've been using thay app, it tells me the usage, but my problem isn't the usage, because whatever is connecting the data plan is using a very small amount of data, but is doing that at every 10seg.
Is their any way to check how often one app is trying to connect to the internet?
You could try restricting the background data of apps until you find which one is causing the problem.
Yes, that is an idea. The only way to check that is on the 11th of the next month, so until then I'm open to new ideas to check what is causing this.
I too having the same problem. It consumed 2.4Gb+ within 3 days form the billing cycle. The data counter on my phone is showing only 260Mb. I have to wait till 10th of next month to check. One thing I notice is that location icon is active most of the time when I do screen unlock. I am going to turn off location in the next cycle and see if it help.
same problem here since update to lollipop
Same problem here. I just can't have mobile data enabled.
Anyone of you just found the solution to the problem?

Mystery Data Usage

My data usage shows the majority of my data coming from "Android OS." Is it normal? Can I limit it?

My wife, son, daughter, and I all have Nexus 6. Daughter's is stock 7.1, wife and son is CyanogenMod 13 (6.0.1), and mine is LineageOS 14.1 (7.1.1). This happened to my wife and son a few days ago, but not to my daughter or me.
Googling reveals that plenty have experienced this in the past couple of years. So not a new or particularly rare thing. The suggested solutions often involved installing firewall software. Another was to turn off sending 'Usage and diagnostics' (Settings / Google).
In Android 7.1.1 (not sure if 7 or 7.1) you can 'Disable all cellular data access' for things. Sadly, that doesn't help the affected devices in my house.

I'm pretty sure this started when I switched to Cricket. I don't remember anything using data like this does when I was on MetroPCS (T-Mobile).

I'm certain that it isn't carrier related (I'm guessing that "Cricket" and "MetroPCS" are carriers?).

I'm going to strip it all down and reinstall the ROM.

Question Out of storage issue

On my S21 Ultra, I'm showing to be 98% full. when I go to look at storage, I see this:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
As you can see, nothing much is showing up as using that memory other than the "Other" area. How can I dig down into the "Other" area and see what's there that I can get rid of?
In the event that it makes a difference, the model number is SM-998U1; Android version 12; One UI versoin 4.0; Security patch level is Nov. 1, 2021.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Dow
Just about any File Explorer in Play Store will assist in identifying the files.
Porn...guaranteed you have filled up your phone with porn
You got porn brain 4 sure!
Possibly items in secure folder. Let's say you have an app like telegram app in secure folder and it has been saving 100s of videos.
LOL!
Actually, I've used a couple of file managers, and I can see what's there, but it doesn't seem to add up. What I'd really like is a tool that would show me intalled apps, along with the amount of storage they're using, including their data and cache values.
Settings
Apps
Change sort order (Your apps .............. (sort icon))
Size
Lists apps in size order with size underneath. The size shown includes data/cache.
For example, my first one is Spotify 2.41GB which is mostly cache data as it keeps some songs on device
Thanks for that. I'll keep it in mind for later. Last night, I finally threw up my hands and factory reset my phone. I figure it'll take me about a week to get MOST of the things back the way I like them. In the meantime however, my storage is MUCH better than it was.

Question Clearing Wifi Data Usage Statistics Without Factory Reset

Hey guys,
I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra and I have been trying to
clear the "Wifi Data Usage" statistics in the setting menu.

"lightbox_previous": "Previous",

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
It seems like there was someone that asked the same thing 8 years ago.
How can I delete/erase the data and wifi usage statistics on my device?
I checked all over the net, but could not find the answer to this. I want to know if there is a way to delete/erase the data usage and wifi usage that is saved to my device. My phone is not rooted, so I am really hoping I can do without rooting...
forum.xda-developers.com
However, this method seems outdated.
I found another method on the internet saying that I had to go into /data/system/netstats
and delete all the files there to clear the statistics.
However, I was not able to find any files to delete in the first place in this directory.
I've tried different file manager applications, including termux, to see if there were any files, but It was empty.
I'm in a situation where I have to frequently clear the statistics, so doing a factory reset every time is not a viable option.
I plead you, Android Wizards of the XDA Forum, please have sympathy for this lost soul and guide me to the truth.
Thank you
Settings menu has option to factory reset Network settings only.
You will have to enter wifi credentials etcetera again.
Hey any update on this?
I'm also looking for the same,
/data/system/netstats folder doesn't have any files to delete.
