I think most of us are not happy Samsung have moved RE Note 5... So what's your next phone... I'm thinking LG 4 pro.. Shame no other phone with pen though.
I'm very likely to take a Nexus but only if they make progress on battery life and APN.
My biggest problem right now is that no other brand has an AMOLED screen as good as the Note 4/5.

I am going to wait for the Note 6, and if that is as bad as the 5, then I am looking at LG, Sony, Huawei and Moto for whatever 5.7inch or above smartphone they have.
I'm hoping the Note 6 brings back everything we liked about the Note 4 and then some, now that Samsung's really seen the backlash from users that could've remained loyal.
If not, I'll just replace my Note 4 if anything happens to it with another Note 4, if nobody else nails the microSD + removable battery + Wacom pen holy trinity.
Failing that, the LG G4 and Moto X Pure/Style look like my next best bets. Too bad the latter still lacks a removable battery, but at least the network support is off the charts!
So... The Note 8 is out... Its a great Device! But 1000€ its exaggerated!!
How many Note 4 users will go to the 8? I think not so many...
I'm still happy with my 3 years old Device... (Already with Dr.Ketan's Rom)
Can we hope to a Note 8 porting or witch Rom can you recommend?
Or should i start to save money? [emoji39]
I just ordered a Mate 9 from Newegg today. I seen the price of the Note 8 and my thought was the same ($1200 + tax Canadian here). I'm on my 2nd Note 4 now and this one has the eMMC issue too. So from the reviews the Mate 9 seems like a close contender with the S8 (At this point I don't care about custom roms for it)

i will go N8 if same price with N4 lmao
is too expensive with 128gb or 64gb
or i must wait until my N4 die forever
I was going to buy one but I really think the Note 4 is still doing the business for me and can not see the benefit
Note 4 is doing great job for me for now. Even if my phone dies, wont give so much money for a phone.
i ended up preordering the n8 at 12:01 AM on the 24th. I love my note 4, and now even more so since I picked up the 10000 mha zerolemon extended battery. But I really want a new phone. I will hang on to the note 4 for a long time, it has a special place in my heart.
Was happy with my Note 4 (running Norma V20) untill my girlfrien got a Samsung S8+.
Then my note suddenly was crap
Bought the Oneplus 5, and daaaaaaamn this phone is fast and smooth! Kinda miss the S-Pen and bigger screen but daaaaaaamn the speed on the Onepluss overweights everything. Much faster than the S8+ to my girlfriend also.
i have the motherboard freezes and reboots and my camera front glas is damaged. i realy need a new phone
i paid for the N8 600$ with provider bonus, i think thats a nice price.
Well my note 4 is still better , infrared is an essential tool for me and note 8 dont have it... I guess I will wait until note 9[emoji14]
Way too overpriced, so I am gonna pass on that. My note 4 is still running like day one, minus the battery which can be replaced easily replaced.
I'm extremely disappointed with Note 8.
Curved edges (without any alternative) mean that the screen will be much more fragile, and will give you glares on the edges. It is both more fragile AND more expensive to replace than flat screens (we've seen that since S7 edge). If that's not enough, the back is now not durable, it's made of glass and you can break it too.
For me personally, one of the biggest NOs of Note 8 is its heavy weight: 200 grams is much more than already too heavy 167 grams of Note 4. About 3 years ago i have changed Galaxy S3 (100 grams) to Note 4 (176 grams) and the change was drastic... It hurts to talk half an hour or more on Note 4, and in general it's too heavy. I sense its weight all the time, every day, and every day wish it were lighter.
The battery is not removable, and it's real PITA. In my Note 4 a battery fully lasts only 1 year, then starts degrade like crazy (overheating during charge; phone turns off at 5, then 10, then 30% etc). I have got my 3rd battery already! With Note 4, maybe would be able to replace it via service center, but it will be more time consuming, more expensive, you will get your device disassembled so it will no longer be like new (lots of glued parts inside), and you will have to trust all your confidential or sensitive data to be given to the service center with your phone.
Why only QuickCHarge 2 is supported (like in Note 4), why not at least QuickCharge 3??
Where are real innovations? Like no bezels screen (Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, or Sharp Aquos Crystal 2), or stereo speakers (last years' ZTE Axon 7)???
This phone costs 500€ or less. 500€ is an absolute maximum one should pay for note 8 at the start of the sales (assuming all the abovementioned minuses), and then the price should drop. I would probably pay no more than 300€, as curved screen and non-removable battery just impose so much programmed obsolesce, that i refuse to invest more.
Realistically, i'm still on Note 4 with a refreshed battery, with an optimized rooted rom and efficient kernel (android 4.4.4), everything flies, and i do not upgrade as i have seen too many negative complaints about 5.x and 6.x ROMS. The device is fast and fits my needs (except being too heavy), however I really want a new, faster device with more modern OS, preferably Android O.
In the short term, if an Android O ROM will become available for N910F, i'll give it a go.
In the long term, i guess i will be migrating to a reasonably price edgeless device (must be QHD Amoled, preferable 6.2-6.3), very likely Xiaomi Mi Mix 2.
Samsung just leaves no other options, it does ignore its customers' needs.
I'm begrudgingly moving to the Note 8 because I have no other penabled smartphone options on the market; this is a niche Samsung has all to itself until someone dares to compete.
Normally, I'd keep the Note 4 still, but I'm in a bit of an unusual predicament: an unofficially SIM-unlocked Sprint N910P variant on T-Mobile since the end of January, largely because we all know what happened to the Note 7 and I didn't want to chance buying another Note 4 with all this talk of eMMC failures. Lately, I can't even get 3G on T-Mo for some reason despite it having worked before (4G never worked because Sprint locked out the bands on their variant), and my call quality's turned to crap.
In short, my hand was forced due to a carrier switch resulting in subpar network performance on my current phone, and had my family heeded my advice two years ago, we would've switched that much sooner.
At least Samsung will take $200 off for trading in an old S5 in working order, and we've got a pair of Sprint S5s not doing much anyway since the switch. That makes the cost of the Note 8 a bit easier to stomach, alongside the pre-order promo... but only a bit. (Ironically, they wouldn't take Note 4s for trade-in, but there's no way in hell I'm giving up mine like that anyway. I like having an IR blaster for those things I didn't get remotes with!)
As a bonus, I won't have to deal with any carrier branding BS this time. If there's an unlocked variant that costs as much as all the major carrier-locked variants anyway, sometimes even a bit less, why the heck would anyone NOT get the SIM-unlocked version? (Bootloader unlocking is probably a pipe dream for North American models now, though. Thanks a lot, Samsung... if not for import models being even more expensive for a litany of reasons, I would've gone that route.)

I'm still on the original Note 4 and also have a brand new spare one that I have never had to use. That may be going on eBay!
Think I'm gonna wait until my upgrade is due in December to see how this pans out. Not too sure about the lack of capacitive buttons but the dual 12mp camera is a biggie for me. Hopefully a working root will be in place to disable Bixby and all the other Samsung crap.
Found out today I have a permanent 25% discount with Vodafone UK so £45 a month is acceptable.

No. Note 8 has the same hardware as the Oneplus 5, but has bloatware OS instead of "stock" android.
So it will be slower.
I am so torn between these 2. The price for the Exynos S9+ is insane compared to the SD, and I can also get my hands on a 256GB Note 8, but I don't want to buy a super awesome 1 year old processor. Looking for input.
Edit: I changed "dated" to "a super awesome 1 year old processor" for the ones that are easily distracted and/or offended.

Note 8 is not "outdated tech" , as others stated above, the really important thing is, do you use, like, need, love the s pen? Because the s pen is the very heart of a galaxy note, If the only reason for you is having the "latest tech" there are many options for you to choose, even in the vivo or huawei brands, in other words, if you have doubts, then the note 8 is not for you
Sticking with the Note 8 i cant justify spending another $900 plus after a few months with the Note...just waiting for the Note 9.

That ^ and lets say you on payment plan. You just had to put $200-300 down plus payments. With the galaxy s9+ you will have to do the same all over. Is it really worth a slightly better Note 8? I don't think so.
This Note 8 is a powerful phone good for 2-3 years, maybe more. Like others said wait for Note 9 or Note 10. I myself waiting for Note 10. The rumor specs of Note 9 seems to be nothing to jump out of your seat for.
If your 1 who wants hottest phone all the time, then go for it. It's your money spend how you want.
I love my note 8, I will keep it 'till note 10 arrives, when you are really into the note series, anything else seems capped, the s pen has no match!
I'm very partial to my Note 8 I did have to get the Galaxy S8 plus because of the Note 7 issue and it was a great phone but I'll wait for the Note 9 and Note 10,I also like the dual cameras on the Note 8 how they are side by side, not really liking the cameras on the S9 plus being one underneath the other,I know they are way better specs wise but it's just an aesthetic thing for me.
Lol @ when he said dated tech. LOL.

Same here. Love my Note 8, plus I'm not one of those to upgrade every year, the new features from one gen to next is not much, just a waste of money to upgrade every year IMO considering how much phones cost these days. I love the spen so I continue to buy Note over S if possible.
I'll be waiting for the Note 10, I'm betting they are planning to make a big improvement with it being the 10, well hopefully.
As was mentioned before, the Note 8 is far from outdated. Amazing piece of tech. I recommend to shop around to save some money.
Go for the 9 if you don't use the S-pen
I say outdated, because both cpu's are being replaced in the flagship lineup. Don't get caught up on the wording.
I decided on the S9 Plus, because I stopped using the s pen. I sold my S8 plus to help fund another device, and so I rolled back to my Note 4 in the meantime, and I haven't used the S pen once. Thanks for all of the input.
S9 if you don't need Spen. Note8 if you want Spen and save some money
I for one am tired of the "gotta have it! gotta have it!" with the new phones. The changes from phone to phone aren't worth the $900+ IMO. I will be keeping my Note8 until it breaks/starts tweaking out.

I would say stick with it. We will get the ports of the software so that's not a problem and the hardware won't shine if you are comparing it to the note 8.

So in other words, we aren't going to use accurate wording that best describes what we are saying? You got the reaction that those words warranted man.
Dated is such an overstatement anyways. I actually considered buying a Note 4 for back up last night. $189 new at walmart.com.
Dears,
I already have a Gear S3 smartwatch and I really like it. I got a S21 Ultra 5G and I'm very happy by the association.
Recently, I've seen a very nice ad of the new Watch 3 and I'm interested in buying one in order to switch from my "old" Gear S3.
However, I would like to ask some questions before :
1) I live in Morocco, and based on the website, ECG and blood pressure aren't enabled yet in my country. But my phone is a DBT CSC (Germany). It is enough to activate those options on the watch ?
2) If not, there is a way to force it without loosing warranty ?
3) Can we finally and natively receive and display pictures in WhatsApp conversations without a third party app ?
4) How is the battery life ? My S3 allows up to 3 days without charging...
Thanks in advance !

1 & 2) Have you considered selecting a region (already available on the watch) that has ECG and BP? Not sure what the native regions are if you buy from Morocco. Perhaps head to Samsung store and ask if they can demo what's available with factory reset. Then you wouldn't have to worry about warranty.
3) Yes. I can see the pictures directly on the watch when receiving whatsapp notification.
4) I find that it lasts around 3 days before charging or 5-6 days if I turn it off after getting home from work. Again, lots of features turned off like LTE, wifi and nfc to increase the battery life.
Not sure if yours is the classic or the frontier but there's been a post with a bit of user experience. Post
Experience:
I came from the S3 frontier and changed it for a number of reasons
- ECG/BP are gimmicks (nice to have but not dealbreaker).
- No MST but then a lot of new terminals use NFC so minimal issue
- S3 cannot use the new wireless charging pads while the watch 3 (I can charge my phone, buds and watch all at the same time)
- originally felt the S3 frontier lasts longer on a charge but gotten used to the GW3 and now pretty satisfied
Thanks for your clear message !
For the answers to 1 & 2, I just plan to buy the watch, I didn't bought it yet, so I'm asking before !
Right now I have an S3 frontier and I really like it, specially its battery life.
Edit : in case it can help, the model available in Morocco is the SM-R840NZKAMEA
It is possible to get BP and ECG with this model by flashing another region's firmware ?
Thanks !
BP and ECG truthfully are gimmicks. They seem to work well enough, but probably not for someone who would actually need to take regular readings.
Sammie is rumored to be coming out with a Galaxy Watch 4 for WearOS. I'd definitely wait to compare if I were you. Not many apps for Tizen.
Frankly, the GW3 promised a lot and delivered very little. The SPo2 feature is garbage, nor is the sleep tracking very good (probably related).
Your watch should come with a number of different countries. When you initially set up your watch (either using phone or standalone mode), you will be asked to first select language, and then select country. The country selection will be limited. That's the part where we don't know what country is available from the firmware installed and to make matters complicated, do not know which country has ECG & BP approved unless we look up those countries.
For #1, you can install the Samsung Health Monitor directly. Link
Caravana provided a SHM 1.1.0.167 v.5 mod.apk that has both ECG and BP. That's how I got mine started even. You may need to use the airplane mode to stop SHM from asking to update to latest version 1.1.0.189. I documented how I roughly got it working Link 2
At least with this method, you won't have to do flash to another country.
Many thanks for your replies.
About BP and ECG, I agree with you. I'm a doctor and I know that those options are just gimmicks in my point of view.
The real reason I want to switch is picture handling for WhatsApp discussion, that I miss in Gear S3. I know there is some additional apps I can install to have it, but supporting it natively would be better, specially for battery life I think.
However, I think I'll wait for the next release. I don't think Samsung will adopt Wear OS, as even its TV are running Tizen and not Android TV...but who knows !
Thanks again !

Got it. I rushed out to get the GW3 because I thought the sleep tracking and SpO2 would be best-in-class. Unfortunately, those two features are barely functional.
And I can't even sync health data right now because my phone was rooted. That's just very, very poor on Sammie's part. Needless to say, that's not what I bargained for locking myself into a more limited ecosystem.
Really hoping now that Google bought Fitbit we'll have some real competition in smart watches.

Disagree. I've tried loose and tighter than anyone would wear a watch, and the SpO2 readings are consistently inconsistent and generally a few points low. That has been the experience of many, many users. All the fingertip monitors out there register in seconds and just work.
And you can bet Sammie knows it's garbage because they've never delivered on their promise for sleep tracking. I've not tried, but I bet it would produce an error most of the time while laying down.
Granted, the ECG and BPM work surprisingly well. Whatever the reason, I doubt SpO2 will ever get fixed, if it even can.
Anyone who recently bought the GW3 or considering it should do a search for news on the Galaxy Watch 4. It's supposed to be running WearOS, so unless you're fairly price sensitive it's going to be a no-brainer to wait 2-3 months.
My GW3 will be for sale the day after the GW4 is released

s-pen pro brings the bluetooth to the S21 Ultra. Remote photo snap, gestures, warning for leaving it behind, etc.
S Pen pro is not worth any money IMHO. Had the BT S pen with Note 10+ and never used these additional features. I don't need that magic wand and the use looks kind of silly...
