I am sorry, but your screen is not affected by kitkat.
What you are looking for is a dark background and the brightness slider. and/or a new battery

Dude I have tried almost all KitKat ROMs I also got new battery and I always set black wallpapers and brightness level to 0 still can't get 3 hours screen time that's why asked for best battery KitKat ROM and I'm using a OEMbattery which cause screen flicker after 10%

Screen flicker equals bad battery........

"Best" rom type threads are not allowed.. It's all subjective. What the best rom is for one, is not for another. Thread closed

Charge completely and get a log using BetterBatteryStats. This will tell you, and us, what apps are eating your battery. If you can, take a screenshot of the Battery section in the settings too, with a screenshot of the details of the screen item in there too.
Have you tried changing ROMs? Or maybe it's time for you to get a new battery
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
i doubled battery life changing roms and kernel's
close apps to save some ram

Just bought one "original samsung", it;s worser than my old one, heating and low capacity.
FYI - picked this up about 2 months ago, and it's been working just as well as my original battery. The charger is really cheaply made, though!

Question about battery life on custom roms.

Hey s3 mini users, i just want to ask a quick question about battery life. So recently i have tried many custom roms (CM11, CM12, vanirAOSP,Dmodv6 and alot more) but i have a problem with my battery life. Roms that are AOSP based like CM11 has horrible battery life (2h screen on time with 10% left). However if i used samsung stock rom based custom rom, the battery is a lot better, i get 3h+ screen on time with 20% left over. So my question is, is this normal for my phone to have bad battery life on AOSP roms?

im just using a clean setup, maclaws CM12, with not much apps (i dont need much) & all is grennified which has the blue cloud. only whatsapp runs in background, no mods/tweaks.
Have you tried cm 11 before? If you have, is the battery life on cm 12 significantly better?

what, thats amazing battery life. I tried both cm 11 and cm 12 but my battery life just sucks. Theres no wakelocks draining battery but the only thing i noticed is that when i download stuff (play store or on internet) my cpu just clocks to max ghz (1ghz) and stays there until download is over. Is this normal or what? cause this is the only thing i can think of that could drain my battery. So confusion

[Q] Someone help me with my battery life

I have tried everything. Stock, Franco and Lean Kernel, UVing by 25 as well as 50mhz, have greenified everything I can that I don't need. But I just can't seem to get more than 2 hours of SOT out of this phone.
i'm not really the kind of person prepared to shut everything(bluetooth, data, location etc) off to save battery. I bought a smartphone so I want it to be smart.
Some screenshots: first two are on leankernel, the last one is from an attempt today with franco right after I finished charging it up(phone barely held a day)

turn off adaptive brightness, and lower your brightness to 20% or lower. i keep mine at about 15%, and see about 5.5h sot. for every 20% i raise my brightness, i get 1h sot less.

That's why google did a bad job to deliver apps with a light material design on devices with an amoled screen.
Good apps does not have grey fonts on a white background. Or have options to change those colors.

5.5 hours of actual screen-on-time isn't horrible. I usually get around 4h but I don't care about stuff like turning down brightness or disabling bluetooth. My N6 easily lasts through the whole day - sometimes 1.5 days (with only light use, though). And if the battery (for whatever reason) gets close to zero Moto provided us with a gift called turbo charger...
It looks to me like you have pretty bad signal with the 69% with no signal. Your phone will keep searching for a network which is going to destroy your battery. Since you have WiFi constantly connected try turning of mobile data and see if that helps.

no. 5.5 hours of screen on time is normally considered very good.
Don't you guys swap in the Team Blackout inverted apps? It adds about 30-40% more screen on time on AMOLED screens. It won't help in areas like settings etc if you are stock based but they have all of the Google apps, Spotify, Netflix, etc inverted and transparent. It always gave me great screen on time on my AMOLED devices. When people asked about my numbers, that was my first suggestion.

i use layers, which is a new light weight open source theme engine. no cm involved! it was started by sony, then some devs here with a n6, took over. i use the pich black or out space layers. pich black themes the rom black, and also themes the gapps black, as well as the google launcher

You are going to have to tell me more about this theme you are using...does it work with the stock ROM or what are you running? Just a few days left until I am on board...
Edit...because it sounds like you have a setup exactly like how I will want mine.

2 Questions about sound and battery life

Hello guys i have a question about the hours of performance of the battery that you usually get to compare with mine´s. I usually get about 3 hours of screen in a day (+- 19h)so i don´t know if i have to change the battery or this is normal. (I actually use powernap).
The other question what is the best lollipop sound mod?
Using Candy and stock kernel.
Thanks :highfive:
Well I get around 4-5hr screen on time on temasek v14.9.
Soundmod: xtrememusic+desire(+desire-fix-v4a)

What's the best setup for optimal battery life?

I only really use my z1 for Spotify, LINE, reddit and Facebook. Currently the battery life isn't so great as it needs charged during the day..
What's the best rom/firmware etc to flash which will give me the best battery performance?
I've not been on xda for quite some time so I'm a bit out of the loop,I did some looking but couldn't find a definitive answer.
Cheers!
??
I'm on stock but rooted lollipop, with Stamina mode and Greenify helping each other out. Also I underclock down to 1GHz but I'm not quite sure if it helps.
On all my past devices running the stock firmware almost always makes the most out of your battery.

Sorry for late reply, didn't get notified.
I think that's normal pretty normal battery if you use Spotify+LINE+reddit+Facebook with 2 out of 4 signal o__o
Well the thing is that when you play music on spotify, your phone cannot sleep.
You should try to get a better signal/reception of wi-fi and cellular. I have read that these without good signal could cause battery drain, as you see, cell standby at 9%. Sorry I don't know how to improve those but :/ yeah..
Maybe try "Stamina Mode" if you didn't activate it (It should have a + logo next to the battery when activated)?
Lower your brightness if you can, that's the biggest drain!
At last, for a rom suggestion,I don't have because I'm stuck on stock roms ._. , maybe try some custom roms when you have free time

Yeah it's not too bad I guess, I just use it more than I realise. Already running mxrom, I've found stamina mode doesn't make much difference.
Thanks for the tips!
