So I got updated to .101 firmware when my phone returned from repairs from the Sony centre. However, I'm unable to flash the .67 ftf in flashtool to downgrade and obtain root :/ It simply says that my phone is connected in flashmode and nothing happens after that, followed by disconnecting my device after a short while. I'm unable to flash the flashable zip in recovery due to some error to try and upgrade from the .434 firmware where I actually get root. Now I'm stuck on .101 firmware and I can't get root since I'm still using a locked bootloader

Select the FTF you want to flash and only connect your device in flashmode when prompted. A flash has never failed for me that way.

Yes that's what I do always but ever since my phone came back from repairs, it's been like that. Flashing the .434 ftf works perfectly fine though.

Custom kernel flashing requires an unlocked bootloader. Hoping that your phone is new, it would be locked!
First install the drivers (XZ drivers, flash mode and fastboot drivers) from drivers folder of flashtool (For flashtool, download the beta version from Xperia Z Original Development forum page than the 0.9.10.1 version- it doesn't support Z)
Next download the firmware of your choice. Make sure it isn't corrupted!
Switch off your mobile but DON'T connect!
Paste the downloaded firmware in firmwares folder of flashtool.
Open flashtool, select flash mode and select the firmware you copied!
It says that it is preparing files, let it do (about 5-10 mins)
After that, a dialog pops up saying that to connect the device, now hold the volume down button and try connecting the device. The flashing should start!

Thxs for your answer.
I got it restored to original.
I just wont to install the cm 10.1 kernel and then the cm10.1 rom.
They say I have to extract the kernel, when I unrar the firmware do I use the boot.img?
How do I do extract the kernel on Sony?
When I connect to flashtool it doesnt give me the option to unlock,so i presume its unlocked?
How can I check?
Ive been flashing my Note for a year now,but this is somewhat different.
To go onto cm 10 or as op (4.2.2) you need to unlock your bootloader
If you want to use Cm roms First you need to know if you can unlock it by dialing *#*#7378423#*#* >service info > configuration and look under bootloader unlock no means can't be unlocked, yes means you can, if you do unlock it make sure you back up your TA partition
There are tutorials on how to unlock bl and even on Sony unlock how to do it
Edit: to try, try and flash doom lords Xperia v6 kernel if it fails then you are still locked

As I do if my phone is in bootloop and now the flashtool does not recognize my phone in flash mode?? The phone lights up green and all but the flashtool does not pass the message "connect your phone in flash mode", the flash never initiates, before right mind had flashed a kernel for root, but now with the bootloop this does nothing.
What I can do?
If u have the CWM Recovery (Tap Volume + in the first vibration) what u can do is go there and select:
- Shutdown your XSP
1. For flash using Flashtool ur phone have to be completely off
2. When Flashtool ask u "connect ur device" u have to press Volume - and connect ur USB. No before it ask u
3. Enjoy

Okay.
So I tried to root my xperia z with 10.4.1.B.0.101 firmware today.
but I forgot to turn on my usb debug before using flashtool to flash in a 10.3.1.A.2.67 firmware
Now my phone is stuck in a bootloop
Btw, my phone have a locked bootloader.
I am trying to flash the firmware to 10.4.1.B.0.101 again and I will try to process the root
What should I do now?
I would give any extra information if needed

Ok so I was trying to flash my z3 back to original Sony software because I was getting an error message in PC companion saying my phone cannot be updated because it contains modified software and I was flashing it using sony mobile flasher by androxyde and I forgot to enable USB debugging and unknown sources and now it's in a boot loop telling me "software update failed. Please plug your phone back in and try again"
Any ideas?
I was told to try using a different computer?
Hi all, if anyone is having trouble flashing with flash tool because usb debugging isn't enabled error then do this procedure.......
1. Dowload latest flash tool 0.9.18.8 and also version 0.6.6
2. Try use the latest version first to Flash the tft rom. NOTE: remember the file it has error flashing e.g on my experia sp file system.sin was not able to Flash bcoz usb debugging error (enable usb debugging and unknown sources) ALL THE REST of the files flashed ok!
3.try flash again the rom but this time tick system.sin (or error file) in flashtool to exclude it from flashing. Make sure all other files are included. Also tick all wipe caches options and flash rom without system.sin (or error file).
4. Flash procedure will work. Now disconnect phone and leave it off without restarting it.
5. Uninstall flashtool latest version 0.9.18.8 and install flashtool 0.6.6 old version and open it to Flash the same rom BUT THIS TIME only select the system.sin file (or error file) to be flashed and rest excluded. Make sure all wipe options in flashtool are enabled and Flash! THE FLASH WILL WORK WITHOUT USB DEBUGGING ERROR and your phone will be fixed!
Press thanks if it helped!
i was on .569 fw before and i try to update it to the latest fw which is .283 using pc companion. after i try to update it, it says update failed. it is because i rooted and unlocked my bootloader before.
so i relocked my bootloader and flash stock .569.ftf using flashtool. and try to update to .283 using pc companion again. it finally worked. i succesfully upgraded my phone to the latest fw .283.
but then i realised root is gone, and i cant access cwm reovery when phone boots and pressing volume down button over and over again.
so i guess my cwm recovery is gone too.
so since im on fresh stock .283 fw, i need someone to give me a cwm recovery for me to flash on fastboot mode using flashtool.
and can i root .283 just by flashing superuser.zip that i flashed on .269 to root .283?
thanks in advance. i need it urgent though.

You will need to flash .230 kernel then root using any method mentioned ( like towel root) then re-flash the .283 kernel. once you have root, you can flash NUT's recovery for your phone. you can not directly flash. you will need to use computer to run recovery batch file
What is the safest way to come back to STOCK rom on my Xperia Z? Installing update using Sony PC Companion will do it ?
Did you unlock your bootloader? If so Sony's update services wont help you. Did you make a TA backup?
Yes, I have unlocked bootloader , but unfortunately I haven't done TA backup.
As already stated, you cannot use official Sony tools to update etc with an unlocked bootloader.
The best solution is for you to use Flashtool to flash a stock FTF. My guide shows how to download and flash stock firmware: How to package and flash stock roms in FTF format
If you don't want to package your own FTF, you can simply download one from the Xperia Z general section and flash it following the instructions in my guide.

You will have to relock your bootloader to update via any official method. Flashtool can do this using the "BLU" button. Do not do this if you're using a custom kernel or you will soft brick your phone. Do it after flashing stock firmware.
You should then be able to update via PC Companion and OTA.
