Turn off GPS, data when not needed, brightness at a low state, not, Bluetooth etc only on when needed.
Disable push notifications like email or Facebook, because in background it syncs all the time.

yep...those notifications from facebook have a service that runs all the time in background...
use 2G instead of 3G/4G.... RIL is the biggest power consumer....enable airplane mode when you want more battery life...

Maybe sounds silly, but do You have 3G / HSDPA full timeturned on and/or any data eating app(s) running in the background? Usually these drains my I9000 really fast. If I take care to turn stimes 3G off (only 2G allowed) and shutting down the app(s) which run in background make my phone usable for a day.
it's 100% normal to suck so much battery life if you are constantly using 3G or WiFi or long phone calls
I know how to disable HDSPA, but how to disable 3g? :S tnahks
You are using it or something in the background is using it.
Full-on use (gaming) burns about 20% per hour in my experience. Browsing might be a little less but not much because instead of using CPU/GPU power it uses data.
The screen is the major burn, how long does battery usage say the screen has been on?
My battery drain is always pretty much exactly 20%/hour screen time + 1%/hour on time. It will deviate from this if I've played alot of music (especially streaming) since it uses power but not the screen, this drain rate will depend on the player and type of music (built-in player playing from SD card is lean, Tune-in radio streaming over 3G is a hog that heats the phone up, Slacker is in between).

Could be a few reasons for that. If you've recently flashed a new firmware your battery stats may be messed up. Just run down your battery down a few times and it should sort itself out.
Maybe you turned your phone on while it was plugged in. This usually stuffs up the battery stats and can show as much as 30% extra battery when turned on that way. Always remove the charger before booting.
Also, to turn off 3g/hsdpa/data go to settings/wireless & network/network mode and select gsm only (2g). You can also download the widget '2g 3g' which will take you straight there. Also, you can uncheck 'use packet data'. This will kill all data which saves battery. I turn it back on with the widget whenever I need data again. The power button menu also has that option. I'm on 2.2.1 so it may differ if you are on 2.1.
Pretty sure you can still text with data off but may want to test it. If message fails then no. However mms send/receive won't work I think.

i can do 5 to 6 hours straight of 3G browsing with screen on auto before it runs dry
3G + Screen = high power eaters
if i play 3D MMO (pocket craft) then it even less time

i heard there's a battery stats trick, anyone know it ?
there's no battery stats trick . its just a logfile that's stored. nothing else. the trick you're probably talking about is calibration of the battery.
drain fully, charge to full while powered off. one or two charges like this should sort it.

Hey I have a bell i9000 and I have to say that I'm extremely happy with my battery life, I've been unplugged since 9 am, its 7:30 now and my battery indicator is reading 37% with above average use (some phone calls, gaming, browsing...) I would advise you to do these things:
1) install darky's rom (9.2)
2) flash speedmod kernel 13b (very good on the battery)
3) use setcpu and set with these values, max:800mhz, min:100mhz (conservative), and add a profile for screen off with min/max @ 100 mhz and 100 priority level (don't worry, your phone will still feel snappy even @ 800mhz)
4) use a black wallpaper, since black is rendered by turning off pixels on an amoled display.
You should see some improvements, hope it helps!

[Q] LG Optimus Black Battery Life?

Hi There OB Users,
Just curious about your battery life.
Please post how long your battery can last.
What ROM and apps you using.
Mine can last roughly 20 hours on low usage (3G ON)
With Wifi ON, it's about 10 hours.
I'm using an app called "2X Battery" (can be found on market)
I'm running NOVA 4.5 ROM
Really appreciate it.
NOVA 4.5
Last three days I didn't use that much my phone so I could test how long does it go without charging.
Calling ~3min
WiFi - 5min
Camera - 10 photos
Winamp - 2h
Display was on about 1.5h
Other apps (no games) that don't use internet - 20min
At 5% I had to charge it for next day. So 95% = 2 days 18 hours. It would be 3 days if I didn't look what time is that often.
But for "normal" every day use, it's 1.5 days. I don't use internet because it's slow in my city (and it's optional for my plan). And at this moment I don't have WiFi router at home (I broke antenna).
Hey there.
here: NOVA v4.5
I use my phone a lot, like 2 hours of 3G network (lot of whatsapp, and quick web search). 3G aways ON
1 hour of calling
3 hours of music
The battery life is about 10 hours.
It would be great if i have at least a day, using it like i do.

Check if you have apps which refreshes between intervals (or even push notifications) and avoid them.. the best solution is to disable Wi-fi and, if you are not a demanding person by others, switch to airplane mode while you sleep!
EDIT: If it doesn't work, just go to recovery and clear dalvik cache

Unfortunately, along with many of the downsides of CyanogenMOD, battery life is an absolute joke. I think you'd be lucky to get over 24h of usage on that ROM. I have no idea why, but it seems that it sucks the life from your phone WAY too quickly.
For those having battery life issues, I'm on Zeus 6.11o and i've increased my battery life by just:
Using a good governor (smartassv2) to control CPU usage when screen off.
Recharging from dead to 100% seems to increase battery life.
And after using playerpro for an hour, surfing the net, using NBA.tv, 3G always on, an hour or so of Kairosoft gaming and i'm currently at 73%.
So life's good under the hood.

Low battery

My phone is having a really bad battery life.It can't last a whole day and it discharges extremely fast.I looked at "Battery" in settings and nothing looks suspicious.Even in standby mode it discharges like crazy ( overnight i lose about 30% of battery ).Phone is completely new.I don't want to disable live wallpaper, wifi, mobile data, sync etc. because i bought a smartphone for those features.Any other suggestions are welcome.

That's normal for the stock ROM, flash my V3 ROM you'll have 2 or 3% drainage over night.
I get super draining aswell after flashing dmod v1. I can't be bothered to keep flashing roms so I'm waiting for cm or benzrom v4.

Turn off your live wallpaper en weatherclock. Those 2 keeps the phone awake. I have with 3g allways on slight browsing loads of texting and whatsapp few calls and most of the time online on facebook, 20/27h of battery time. When i dont use my phone alot it can go up to 35/40h

No live wallpaper and no weather clock. Most bloat ware removed, Using golden kernel hotplug governor and seeder. With benzrom I had 20+ hours with heavy use. Since dmod I get roughly 10-15 hours. 30% drains overnight.

So strange, there are no significantly changes in DMod, compared to the base BenzROM! Essentially frameworks and apps are the same

Yes but you're forgetting about build.prop tweaks, they play a big role when it comes to battery drainage.
I just installed Benz rom, so i am hoping for better battery life. But there is also one more thing i noticed.I installed no frills cpu and i noticed that minimum frequency is 1 ghz !!! I set it to 200 mhz and i think that will make a huge impact on battery.I will be posting my battery stats picture soon.
So many advises about installing other rom. I think you need to try to remove huge battery drainers first. Try to disable Picasa web-albums sync (this **** eats alot! ) and some other sync that you don't need. You need to change it for each Google account you use on your phone. That's all. This small change halped me alot with battery drain and, I hope, will help you.
Also, you can freeze apps that you don't need to. It can be made without root.

In screenshot you have a very weak gsm signal in your area. This drains your battery.
If you don't use 3G/HSPA mobile data, you can try to manual switch to 2G network (2G band use less power from your battery).
HTH,
Ok, so installing a new rom and messing with CPU frequencies did help after all.I installed Benz rom and changed minimum cpu frequency from 1 ghz to 200 mhz.Battery now lasts 2-3 days with light use and about 1.5-2 with medium use.Battery discharge overnight is about 10% with sync, wifi etc. turned on.
hmm,i dont know what apps you have installed on your phone, but when i installed Dropbox app few days ago, there was a massive battery drainage overnight...it eat my battery between 30-35% overnight...and it used to be only 3-5%...
of course i uninstalled the app and now its back to normal, only 3-5% drainage overnight(wifi and sync off)...
Check my "Obligatory Extended Battery Thread."

[Q] Battery problem

I have problem with my s3 mini.
I used stock ROM. it's still official without any root or something.
My baseband is DXAMB1.
My problem is, when I start my phone, the battery life up to 18 hours. But after 70-80 hours up time, the battery suddenly really sucks.
it just about 9-10 hours a day. For example (I forgot to screen capture), I charged my phone and full at 11 pm and then in the morning (6 am) it says my battery 50%. When I look at the battery status it says Android OS stay awakes for 6 hours.
After I restart my phone, it back to normal. When I woke up, it says 80% battery and Android OS stay awakes for 1 hours.
Everytime my battery life become sucks, I need to restart the phone.
Is anybody have the some problem with me? And how to fix this?
It just sucks that I have to restart my phone every 3 days.

I was pretty curious about this option too, some time ago, so I googled it and finally came to the opinion that it is like using a task manager, = useless on Android, because it has its own RAM manager.
This option to limit process is what it is: for developers, to test how their eventual app handle once it goes in background, and what if once killed. (read http://www.extremetech.com/computing/112013-how-multitasking-works-on-android-and-ios/2)
My personal advice/choice for a longer life for your battery:
1 - root your device and freeze/delete bloatware (system apps: first freeze them, see how it goes, then, delete them (after making a backup)
2 - use
A) Juice Defender (balanced or aggressive), set 2g connection when the device is in your pocket,
B) Use Wakelock Detector to check what most consumes your battery (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uzumapps.wakelockdetector&hl=en)
3 - use wifi and 3g only when needed, - don't count on the smartness of automatic mode 2g/3g under data
4 - switch off syncronization if you don't need it 24h (whatsapp / viber will work anyway)
5 - settings / display /
A) Auto adjust display tone ON
B) Turn off softkeys (I know exactly where 'back' and 'option' keys are..)
6 - Power saving mode ON for screen and cpu (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTLTBo2DRQA)
7 - Disable double tap on home button for S-Voice (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmU8hXUXNFE)
8 - Keep normally a mid-low brightness level, you can adjust it quickly if needed, can't you?
9 - Disable Auto-update in Google Play (you can update manually)
10 - How To Disable Samsung Push Service and Samsung Ad Utility Services (http://www.eyes4tech.com/2013/03/ho...e-samsung-push-service-and-samsung-ad-utility)
11 - Turn OFF vibration (actually, I like it and I use it for SMS and incoming phone calls)
12 - Set airplane mode when you go to sleep (or just switch it off if you don't count on it for morning alarm or to use it as an eventual light)
13 - Never use a Task manager
Assuming you're enough smart for keeping Bluetooth OFF if you don't need it, by this way, according to my daily use (phone calls, texting, internet, no gaming), I recharge it each 1d 15/22 hrs.
Hopefully this helps. :cyclops:

Battery Stats - non rooted

Is the battery life really that good? I really can't get more than 2 hours of SCREEN time with broken use or 3 hours of concentrated use. The International had a thread about this, but those are GSM and running custom ROMs and kernels.
Post your crazy good (or bad) battery Stats here with setups and sync settings. Stock non Rooted preferred, but maybe someone here can convince me to root my phone again!
I'm having the same problem
I'm currently rooted running d3rp but when I've had it stock I get pretty great battery life. Definitely no complaints. Maybe a hardware issue with some phones?
I get about four hours on screen time. And twelve standby. It's enough to get me through the day, and I'm alright with that.

How did you achieve that (settings,apps,etc...)?
I'm apparently an idiot and my brain is fried from work today, but where do you check the screen on time?

I'm on derpone. I uninstall everything I don't use (Facebook, Twitter, chrome, ect), turn off auto sync, I'm also on the experimental x kernel, unlocked to 1.5ghz, under volted, and have thermal throttling set to the highest (coolest?) Setting. Oh and I have the battery saver on, everything is enabled aside from the brightness control.
...wow I do a lot of stuff.

HTC took it out of the stock settings, the only way to see is with a battery monitor like better battery stats.

Is Gsam a good monitor? I have power saver off (I see no real difference in battery life) but the screen uses like a maximum of 10% of my power. The kernel uses like 25%. Apps account for 75% of battery usage.
You've probably already searched some if you're asking, but I wanted to make sure you have seen this thread:

It includes my tip that turned me from disappointed w/ battery life to impressed. (By setting every social app, blink feed, weather, (but not calendar, gmail, or other google services)) to manual sync... and my phone lives most of its life in below average signal strength areas.
Otherwise, I'm running non-rooted, stock, and no battery tweaking apps, or memory freeing apps, etc.

How do I make sure only my google stuff auto syncs? I could care less about the main facebook app. (I need the messenger though, lol).
If I uncheck everything in the Facebook section of Accts and Sync, will it sync at all? Like, when I run the app?
But if GSam is right, then my main problem is the Android Os and kernel. Together, they eat up about 30% of my battery, sometimes more.

Yeah, that's it, you got it. Settings > Accounts and Sync.
My theory was the phone would never be able to turn itself down to a lower power state since one thing or another would always be keeping the data connection active. Used to barely clear 1 day, and now 2 is no problem.
Apps with sync off just update when you open them. Made sense to me!
Good luck.
I have wifi always on with "data connection" unticked and "Sleep mode" ticked because I seen this from htc's website "Keep in mind though that the Sleep mode option for the data connection in Settings > Power, when enabled, overrides power saver mode." Here are some screen shots my brightness is manually set at 20%.
