[Q] Return Unlocked phone for repair - Sprint HTC One (M7)

My Sprint HTC One will not be recognized by any PC. It is unlocked. I have tried it S-On and S-Off. I have tried multiple cords, on multiple USB ports, on multiple ROMs, on multiple PCs Win 8, and Win 7. I've installed universal drivers and the uninstalled HTC Sync. I took it to the Sprint Store and the tech thought he fixed it by putting the phone in USB debugging mode. That didn't work. HTC said to reset the battery stats by powering down for ten minutes, then hold vol up, vol down, and power for two minutes. No luck...
I am able to to use dropbox to load ROMs and backup files.
I reached out to HTC again to troubleshoot. My question is, will i encounter problems if i send the phone unlocked and on a custom ROM to repair a USB port? The warranty language mentioned service fees and handling fees. I don't wish to encounter these. lol. I would love to send it back with factory setting, but cannot without a working USB port and a PC. Right? Any suggestions?

Returned and back to normal

So i was able to restore my phone from my first stock back up. This was my saving grace. I transferred it via Dropbox. I then, used the Terminal app and Revone to relock bootloader and make the phone look as close to stock as possible. Then only things I was't able to return was S-Off back to S-On and the red developer warning on bootscreen. After returning to mostly stock i sent the phone to HTC by Fed Ex ($25) and received my phone back fixed and returned to full stock and an new Sim card. Victory! It only took a week and a half. I ended up getting the M8 anyway, but I'm happy to know that HTC was able to help me out.

No Connection via USB after OTA ICS Upgrade

Hi there guys,
I recently upgraded to ICS on my Incredible S (Unrooted, UK model from Carphone Warehouse, about 7 months old), and since upgrading I can't get a connection to my PC via USB. The phone still charges when plugged in by USB, and if I turn the phone on in the bootloader, the computer recognises it. However when in Android, the phone itself isn't recognising that it's connected to anything; I have it set to always ask when connected via USB but nothing comes up! I've tried all the obvious things (different leads, different computers) to no avail, made sure fast boot is turned off, turned on USB debugging.
Has anyone any suggestions? I'm gonna take it back if I can't get it working as it's still under warranty.

Any ideas on how to fix it? I've since googled it and the few people who've taken it back to CWH have said they've had it sent back unrepaired due to "Water Damage" and the water sticker on my battery has got the pink crossed lines on it despite the fact it's never been exposed to water as far as I can remember.

Have you tried doing a Wipe Data/System Reset to see if that clears up the issue?
try AirDroid !!
I had the same issue in one of the ROM's don't remember which one (but no longer on my current ROM)
I tried everything. I was using NOVA launcher by default. Clearing the defaults and switching back to HTC Sense worked for me. Immediately my notifications had the option to choose between usb modes.
P.S I would highly recommend AIR DROID app and managing your phone and sd card via chrome browser. Excellent APP incase USB port is ^%$&*$ed
AFAIK, if you can see the pink crossed lines then that means it's NOT water damaged.
If it gets wet, the whole sticker goes pink (and you can't see the lines anymore).
GIYF..

HTC One USB Port Problem

The phone USB port is having problems. It will charge ok wont connect to any laptop in any mode, system, fastboot or recovery. It would be powered by it for a small fraction good enough for it to be detected and then it would stop sending signals. Anybody know any fix for the problem.
Also has anyone sent their rooted phone for repair recently n got it repaired under warranty. Its revone S=off and running trickdroid.
And the error in device manager is USB BOS descriptor failed, "waiting for device", "Device cannot start. (Code 10)"
its probably the voltages messing it up. On connecting the USB it turns on car mode. I was able to briefly get the UMS to work by draining down the battery n connecting to laptop n turning it on. It worked for 2-3 boots and thats it. Its gone again...

i'm having almost the exact same issues you are. it won't charge unless it's turned off, and it won't connect to my computer at all. sometimes if it's plugged in it'll put itself in car mode. did you manage to get yours fixed?

Same problem here! I made a thread about it but no one answered..
I'm glad it charges though, yesterday when I went to bed it wouldn't charge, but this morning it did. Goes into car mode though and it won't connect to the PC. I think I'm going to bring it back for a repair/replace under warranty.
i fixed it, tried different cables and chargers and finally the charger from my old old moto cliq fixed it, i think it was short at some point of voltage troubles. Fixed since some days now. No more trouble. Also discharge ur battery a few times ( turn of fast boot from settings) and charge all the way to 100 for like 3 days. Also try booting in fastboot mode and connecting to computer see if fastboot usb is connected. took a few days to get it work using different methods. Dont exactly know which one worked

i went in to my t-mobile store to get the warranty replacement process started this morning, but of course the rep saw that i had clockwork installed on it and said he couldn't start the exchange until i got it back to stock. problem is, since it doesn't talk to my computer i can't access adb to reset my tampered/unlock flags and flash the stock recovery. i'm probably gonna have to throw down $175 to asurion to get it replaced for "water damage" or something, unless you guys have any other suggestions i might have overlooked. when i get home i'll try a bunch of different microusb cables to see if i can get any to work, like charnsingh_online mentioned.
just wanted to toss in a quick update in case anybody else is having this problem... a few hours ago someone posted about this same issue on the HTC One subreddit, and i came across a post on the vodafone forums from today describing it as well. i'm getting a little concerned that there might be a bad batch of these phones floating around that are all beginning to fail.
Quick update from me aswell
Yesterday evening it charged like normal, I could even pull the plug out and put it back in without the phone going in car mode, it would still charge.
Now this morning I wanted to try to see if it connects to my PC but that still didn't work. I put it in the charger just to see if it still would charge as easy as the evening before but it went to car mode and I was back at the beginning. Turning the device off and back on didn't resolve it.
Now it does charge again by turning off fast boot (or however it's called, I'm translating from dutch). That made it work again (but for how long?!)
EDIT
My phone finally connected to the PC. The phone still went into car mode but it didn't disconnect after that (like it used to do). I can put my music on my phone now but the phone is alternating between car mode and normal mode.. pretty odd.
I have the same problem. when I turn on the htc one, rainbow screen appears, and does not detect when I connect to PC, I will test the battery discharge, hopefully get lucky,
I'm having the same issue as well. The phone randomly now is throwing itself into portrait mode even when I don't have it plugged in, charging is very intermittent. I'm thinking there's a short somewhere on the circut board but that's only a guess. Do we think this is a hardware issue? At least I'm still on stock if I have to get the phone replaced, but what a PITA with not having an SD card to remove. I'm liking that less and less... grr.
may be a defect, i had a few cells and never appeared a similar problem, I had a galaxy s2, s3, s4, HTC Evo .
I detected car accessory mode, and the strange thing is in Fastboot Mode I can install an official RUU from my PC .
I'm thinking of a theory, it could be that the MISC partition mmcblk0p19 apparently damaged as happened with the HTC Desire for a while now, if reflashing That possibly corrupt partition with a fresh htc ONE, I'm digging into this line of research

OTG mode?
Have had Htc one x + from ebay for a week with no sync or charging problems then yesterday tried to sync but phone crashed/rebooted and asked to send error report to htc for "abnormal restart" or somthing and my pc saw it as an "un-recognised device", since then it is not even seen by my pc and will only charge when off or after restart. The usb is putting out 5v which it should only do in OTG, using an otg cable it powers flash drives ect and see's them. If I can't fix this it will go back to HTC under warranty.

Run phone down to 2% battery then checked and no more 5v output from the usb port, turned phone off and still no output voltage from the usb. The phone now charges and connects to my pc as it should. If the battery was removable as it is on other phones it would have done the same as discharging the battery on the htc one x + to give it a propper reset.

im looking at the same options too man... would have to pay $150 or so to get a brand new one from rogers unless they sent my phone from repair without noticing the unlocked bootloader. from what ive seen theres no way to relock it and flash the stock recovery aaaand RUU without computer connection.
looking at my situation now, im considering never rooting again just because of how screwed you are if something happens to the hardware.
i havent really considered replacing the usb port myself but i guess if i found a store where i live that can do it for a reasonable price, imma go for that.

Man, you can flash it, if you have the same issue as me, i was able to flash in FASTBOOT MODE, and relock with renove , i used ADB WIFI from MARKET , with this app you are able to send ADB commands , adb shells, etc for REVONE S-OFF, or apply a RUU original, in FASTBOOT MODE your PC should detect connections.

well last night my computer wasnt picking it up in fastboot mode and i have all the drivers from when i unlocked a couple weeks ago so it should be recognized. but i guess i could atleast try relocking it. and cant i just get rid of root straight from the device?
do you know what command i would have to do through adb, ike fastboot oem lock or is it different?
Amm, have you used renove for s-off?? If you use fastboot oem lock maybe you will get the relocked mark or tampered maybe with Revone you can roll backto a clean locked and s-on state
Enviado desde mi HTC One usando Tapatalk 4
my phone is unlocked but is still s-on. how would i get back to stock 4.1.2 and no root after if i can relock my boatloader using that wifi adb?
look, if you lock the bootloader again being in S-ON, you will receive the label relocked or tampered with this you might void your warranty if you send it, the option that I can think, make S-OFF with REVONE, Read a little this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2314582
You can fully use ADB commands via wifi, tested by me, with REVONE you can LOCK the bootloader and back to S-ON , with no trace of having changed either BOOTLOADER or S-OFF/S-ON .

Hard bricked HTC one

Hi Guys,
I've done enough research, couldn't really find a legitimate answer. I have a rooted htc one m7 GSM. Rooted with cwm and cm 11 snapshot feb installed. Everything was fine. A few hours ago, I randomly got a "com.google.gapps" has stopped working. I pressed okay and it went away. A few minutes later I got 2-3 of those messages one right after another, and my google applications stopped working. Couldnt send texts, and log on to the play store.
I tried a few fixes and nothing worked. I decided to update my gapps, and while I'm at it install the new cm snapshot from march 17th.
I went into cwm and did wipe davlik and cache partition. Then was installing cwm. It took a while and about halfway through the phone randomly turned off. I knew I had about 50% battery so thats not an issue. I tried turning it back on and it wouldnt. I plugged it into the computer, the computer made the sound as if I plugged something in but nothing populated.
Tried vol up and down, power button alone. Saw a suggestion on here that said to use a bright light under the proximity sensor. Tried that as well.
The phone shows up as "qualcomm" in device manager when plugged in.
I CANNOT take this to HTC or the carrier for many reasons (no it is not stolen lol)
Help?

Unfortunately thats your only option
I'm in Canada. The phone was originally with bell, but I did not buy it from them nor am I on their services currently. Phones boot loader was unlocked and so was its IMEI. Using on a different carrier.
What are my options in terms of htc repair?

Htc Desire C Mobile Brick?

Hi guys, ive made an account on here just to ask this question as im stumped
So my phone, HTC Desire C was less than a year old, about 10 months, and it suddenly just stopped working. The phone does not charge or turn on. However, it has been recognized by Windows but has failed to install the drivers. Im quite a PC nerd so ive gone around the long way to install the drivers by hand, still nothing. The error that Windows displays is "This device cannot start"
The phone does not boot into bootloader by power on switch and volume down
The phone does not display the HTC logo when turning on
The phone is pretty much a mobile brick; useless
Ive tried:
Charging for hours on end
New charger kit
New battery
Everything to get this phone to turn on or even to open the root folders on Windows.
The phone is rooted but i cannot tell you anything specific. Ive forgotten what i done to it. I do know that no custom roms was on the phone.
Is there any way to get the phone to come back alive?
Also, ive contacted HTC by Email and they have said that I should bring it to them. However, the fees that it will cost will most likely be more than the phone by it self. Id rather try and fix it and save me some cash. The phone isnt important anyway, I rarely use it
Any help will be much appreciated

M7 with Red Triangle and Exclamation Point!

I can't do anything. I was syncing my phone with Sync Manager and saw an option for software repair. It downloaded and began to update/install or whatever and stopped partway with an error. Now I have this triangle. I tried the factory reset and all that in all these option and the phone just continuously power cycles now no matter what I try.
I think its bricked and already have a replacement coming in two days. But that's also two days without a phone. Trying to see if I can get it working ASAP until this phone gets here. I have some important people that were speaking to me for work and have no way of contacting them until then.
Was the phone rooted when connected to the Sync Manager? You do not generally want to use software not currently supported by HTC, because it's going to try and run HTC repairs on it. If the phone had a root or some sort of custom bootloader, HTC Sync Manager WILL detect it as an issue and attempt to repair it, therefore bricking the phone...
