Uninstalling system updates - Sprint HTC One (M8)

It seems as though the system update has messed up the data, text and call features on the phone. I'm not rooted, with that being said can the update be erased from the internal memory and then do a factory reset. I'm having the same issue as everyone in the forum in the link provided

Have you already tried dialing ##72786# from your phone dialer, then choosing reset from the menu when it pops up? If not, try it and see if it gets things working again, then update your profile and PRL. You can also do ##3282# but you'll need your MSL, which Sprint should give you if you ask for it. There isn't really a way to uninstall the software update since you're not rooted, at least not that I'm aware of.
For more info, take a look at the thread in the link below:

[Q] Sync, app download fail post root.

So, I did the one-click root, which worked fantastically, and I downloaded Titanium Backup, froze the V-cast stuff and a few bits of bloatware.
I'm not sure what happened, but my phone is no longer downloading successfully from the marketplace, and sync has failed every time i've tried it.
I've tried defrosting every program I froze, rebooting the phone, and doing a battery pull, but it still keeps telling me that the network is unavailable and that I should call tech support whenever I try to sync, and the marketplace is still not downloading apps.
Opera works fine, the market itself has no problems showing me every app that's available, but when I try to download, it just hangs without downloading anything at all.
Any suggestions?
Did you try flashing the leaked ota? Try to get yourself as close to stock prior should you decide to try it.
Hadn't heard about an OTA, and don't know how to flash it if there were one. Would doing this correct the problem?
Further investigation shows that data connection is working fine, and I can update using google account. The only problem left is the failure of Android Marketplace to download any apps, regardless of connection type.
Try going in to Menu/Settings/Applications/Manage Applications, find Market and then clear cache and clear data. Force Stop it then exit back to the homescreen and launch the Market app again.
That was what the guy at Motorola support tried, except he had me do a battery pull instead of a force stop. No luck.
Thanks for the suggestion, though. Any other ideas?
Yeah...and this one will sound stupid.
Sign in or out of Google Talk. I had an issue on my Droid where everything I downloaded was "unsuccessful". Don't remember where I saw it but it was a google support posting that said to try that.
I was signed in...signed out and everything worked fine after that.
The leaked OTA is in the development section if you want to try it.
Also, I know it sucks to lose everything but have you tried a factory reset?
Tried the google talk solution, no luck.
Will try the OTA flash; all it will take to get me virtually back to stock is to unfreeze everything, since that's pretty much the only thing i've done since I rooted the phone. Is that all I need to do prior to trying, or do I need to unroot or something?
Haven't tried a factory reset, but wouldn't be that huge a loss as long as I back up my contacts and texts.

Can't Check for Software Updates?

Hey guys,
I am stock rooted on my Note 3. I only rooted to clean up most of the ATT bloatware that was installed; so that's all I've removed.
I can't check software updates. I tap and tap and tap the Software Updates button in the settings and nothing. I've tried restarting the phone and still nothing. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Devices with root access can't check for software updates. Your device status is listed as "custom" once you root it.

Ok thanks. I guess I'll need to find out how to unroot it then. I've been wanting to check for the 4.4 update. I know it hasn't been OTA'd yet, but still want to be able to check.

Download Wanam from the playstore and install it. Also install the xposed framework if you haven't already. In wanam scroll down to "security hacks" and check "fake system status". Reboot and you should be able to check for updates while rooted.

So I did this, and no go. I still can't check for updates, and the padlock is still there. I have tried disabling/enabling the check box a couple of times. Any other ideas?
Enable the checkmark. Then it may take a few reboots to make it work. (Make sure XPosed is enabled. I forgot that once.)

Ya I did. I will keep trying. The padlock did go away. So the "official" status should allow me to check for updates as well, just to make sure?
You guys apparently have no idea about triangle away...

Yes once the padlock is gone, your status is shown as official and you can check for updates.

Thanks for helping me get this far.
The padlock is now gone, but I still can't check for updates. It's just an empty tap.
You might have "AT&T software update" froze. Unfreeze it if it is.

Pretty sure that's where I screwed myself. I uninstalled all that AT&T crap thinking it was bloatware. Sounds like I'll need to do a restore for a fresh flash of MJ5.

Ahh man that sucks! Looks like your learning your lesson the hard way.
This isn't directed at you, or any one person. But I don't know where you "I deleted bloat and need it now" people learned to delete stuff. BUT STOP DELETING LOL! You must always always always perform a complete app backup FIRST! I highly recommend titanium backup pro. Use it to backup EVERYTHING first. Freeze unwanted apps and use phone for 2 days. If device still works fine then uninstall the app, but keep the backup! A 5 minute backup saves you a 50min restore process.

I do use TB. I just apparently don't know how to use it.
EDIT: Would doing just a factory reset on my phone fix that? Or do I need to download a full ROM?

When you first install Titanium backup pro you'll see a white box with a checkmark thru it on the top right. That's known as "Batch Actions". Within that menu you'll see category's like verify backups, backup, restore, move/integrate etc..... I recommend running "Backup all user apps + system data". The first time running is slow. Now you'll have EVERYthing backed up. Now to freeze an app, use the menu and scroll to desired app. Select it and choose "freeze". Now the frozen app will be highlighted as you scroll the list. Reboot and run the phone a day or 2. If no glitches arise and you need the space, you can "uninstall" the app. Uninstall it by selecting it and choosing "uninstall". After an app is uninstalled the backup you made will be allllll they way down the list with a line thru it. If you find out you need the uninstalled app, click it and select "restore" then choose "app only". If you choose "app+data" glitches can arise. Especially if you restore a backed up 4.3 app to a 4.4.2 rom.
I hope that lil rundown on titanium helps ya. If I am unclear like I have been before, feel free to shoot another question.

A factory reset can sometimes fix issues like this. It all depends on how the item was removed. Frozen apps will be restored. But deleted and blitzed apps don't come back from factory resets. You never know till you try, and it can't hurt to try since your about to reflash back to stock anyway. So give it a shot!

They were uninstalled, so if you are saying it doesn't come back, then I won't waste the time with the Factory Reset. I need to find a guide to flash back to stock. I don't know much about this phone and getting technical with it. I enjoyed it so much just the way it is.

Thank you, sir!
The only thing I have at the bottom that have lines through it are AT&T Smart Wi-fi" and "media."
I'll have to follow that thread.
Just out of curiosity, if I took my phone back into an AT&T store and asked them to complete wipe and restore it, do they have a full ROM that they would be putting back on? I wouldn't mind that since I would rather them do it since it's faster. Not much time to mess around with this right now.
A Samsung store should be able to. I'm unsure about an at&t store. Call one by you.

[Q] How to update Profile/PRL on Sprint HTC One (M7)?

In the latest version of Viper ROM (6.2.1) my system updates tab (in settings) force closes upon opening. I've done some research on the Viper One ROM thread and apparently this is a known issue.
My question is, can I update my PRL or profile some other way? I heard it's possible to use Sprint zone, but I don't have it installed, and none of the apks I've found have worked (parsing error).
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
bump! please help me out!
Just in case someone else needs it: found this on the Viper One thread, got it installed just fine. Profile update was a success! It showed that my PRL was current, too.

Thanks for posting the apk. I am using a Sprint HTC One, on a GSM network. It has never been connected to Sprint. I am looking to enable the roaming options in the Mobile Data menu option.
One question, were you able to uninstall the app without any issues? I mean did it install any other bloatware or and FC when uninstalled?
Cheers

Try changing sku_id to 42 in default.xml. The line is near the end. That might enable data roaming for you.
It probably doesn't install any bloatware, but it might FC if uninstalled for your 2nd question. So it's best not to touch it
Thanks will try changing sku_id.

Report back if it works please!
I figured this might be somewhat related instead of starting a new thread.
I tried updating my profile (while on InsertCoin, if that matters) and it was apparently successful and prompted a reboot. Since then, the phone is essentially nonfunctional as it constantly reboots after a minute or two of being on.
Is there an old profile that I could flash to revert to what was running prior to my update? Would reflashing InsertCoin be a better option (hoping to avoid this so I won't have to worry about setting everything up again)?
EDIT: Reflashed InsertCoin w/o wiping data seems to work. I'll just skip updating the profile for now.

[Help] Lockscreen wallpaper disappeared, wallpaper frozen over entire system

So I'm in a bad place right now it seems. I just rooted my S6 with PingPong root and everything went great. Proceeded to install AdAway and get that started. Then I moved to some build.prop tweaks. I added in the RAM tweaks from the thread in General and I also edited product.name to "att" to remove the S Finder and Quick Connect lines under the brightness sliders. When I rebooted my phone, I got the problems described in the title.
The lock screen just shows a black wallpaper and the rest of the normal options on the lock screen. I'm able to unlock my phone, but then all I see is my actual wallpaper over everything. I can bring the notification shade down and use the toggles, but if I try to open an app all I see is the wallpaper. I know the app is running because when I tried the phone dialer, I was able to place a call. So everything is running, but I can't see any of them because my wallpaper is stuck in place over everything.
Obviously my first idea was to fire up adb and push my backup of the build.prop file to /system, but I can't use adb as it says my device is unauthorized...I've enabled USB debugging in the developer options, but I never got the authorization request and it doesn't seem to pop up on my phone. I'm going to try and blindly see if it does pop up. If someone could post a picture of what the pop up looks like, it would be extremely helpful.
Does anyone know how I can unscrew myself here? I don't even know why this happened. My guess is it's the product.name change because no one's reported a problem like this with the RAM tweaks. Also, I've tried booting into Safe Mode and the problem still persists.
Thank you for the help.
Edit: Managed to get authorized and was able to get in through Adb shell. Moved my backup to /system, exited the shell and pulled the file from /system to check it and make sure it was right and now my phone is in a bootloop. What the hell happened? The build.prop is identical to the one I backed up. Why am I getting a bootleg now and what should I do now? I'm guessing I'm pretty screwed.
Edit 2: Flashed stock firmware with ODIN. Back to normal now.
If problem still persist you may have to ODIN. FYI in 5.1.1 you are able to remove sfinder and quick connect

Yeah I'm downloading the stock firmware now and planning on flashing through ODIN. I'm reluctant to update to 5.1.1 due to the comments about worse battery drain and no real fix to the multitasking. Figured I would root and try the changes people have been reporting successfully.
I've never owned an Android Samsung phone before or flashed via ODIN, but I'm guessing it will wipe my phone completely?
Ok sounds good ..

Settings has stopped using wifi

I'm not sure if this is the place to post this, so please let me know if it isn't.
I've been having an issue every since I installed the Android 7 beta to get Android Nougat. I was hoping that the OTA official update to 7 would fix it, but it did not.
The issue I'm having is as follows.
Most of the time, when I'm trying to open wifi through the notification area, or thorough the settings app, it will open for a second, then give me the following message.
"Settings has stopped"
It then gives me the option to reopen the app, which usually crashes it again, and then close the app completely.
These are the things I've tried:
Factory reset
Clear data from settings app
Wipe partition cache
It still does this in safe mode as well.
I've talked to Google, Motorola, and Project Fi and they were unable to help and told me since my phone is out of warranty, I'd have to buy a new one or get this one fixed. I'm not willing to do either. I will just live with it if I can't fix it.
Any advice would be great.
I've got a Nexus 6 running the latest build of Android 7 and I have Project Fi.
Any other information you need, please let me know.

it's difficult to find the reason when a system app force closes.
My idea is to install TWRP-recovery and flash a rom close to stock, after wiping caches, system and data partitions.
The link below concerns a prerooted lite stock rom, works on my Nexus 6.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=59561445/
You could start fresh & clean, flash the entire factory image.
How long have you been on 7.0, have you experienced any other issues?
