So I've tried connecting to my work's WiFi network which is filtered by MAC address. I see that my wireless MAC address is now different than what it was before.
The only thing I can remember changing over this weekend was flashing @faux123 latest VZW kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2712044&highlight=sprint).
Anybody have any insight?

Has anyone been able to change the wifi MAC address of the Galaxy Tab?
I've read various methods out there that seem to work on some phones and not on others. Finally got wifi in work, was delighted at the thought of using my tab to log in, sit in the canteen and do some work, but IT have locked it right down by a MAC address allowed list
You can change the mac address to a different one, but you can't make it a specific address.
If they want you on their router, why can't they add your address?
I wanna change my mac too, is there any solution to do this?
Hello
since installing 3.4 I have had issues with this rom however none so serious I jumped ship however I have problems with conecting to my home wifi which is causing pain...
I have set up wifi on my note as dhcp and my netgear router is also set to give ip address via dhcp however the note will only connect sometimes otherwise the message 'obtaing ip address' is shown then the connection drops to remembered and then Im back on 3G. I have tried various fixes including re-flashing the rom providing a static ip address. I have this issue with any dhcp network the note just will not connect all the time...

It happen even on stock to me mate. What I do is turn off wifi,go to browser and navigate to any site(yeah with wifi turned off still and data network off),when it gives you error turn on wifi and refresh the page.
I know its irritating but I have no solution and it works for me
still trying to find a solution to this. setting wifi sleep policy to Never seems to help I also deleted the dhcp_list file which forces the note to reconnect from scratch each time it connects to a known network rather than selecting it from the list. still not a full fix. seems to be a samsung thing rather than rom based. do the modem downloads available control the wifi functions or are they just for radio 3g etc as I will try a different modem to see if that helps.....

Spoofing MAC address can lead to exactly these problems. Since the wifi driver used is closed source, you don't know what is causing the issue, can be the driver itself or it could be your ap/router to run MAC verify in the background (very unlikely).
What did you use to change the MAC in first place?

Hello! I Have A Lenovo K3 Note Buyed Last Year In August.. I Have Successfully Updated My Phone With The Latest Marshmallow 6.0 Update Rolled Out In March... But I Have Been Consistently Going Through A Problem Of The IP Address & The MAC Address Of My Phone... Everytime A Connect A WiFi Network After Disconnecting It... My IP Address Changes... Even If I Keep My IP Address Static From The Modify Options.... My MAC Address Changes After The Connect-Disconnect Cycle... Due To This Issue, In A Secured WiFi Network My IP Gets Blocked On Its Own Because A Secured WiFi Network Is Meant For Only Saved Users, If I Save My IP Address In Our Network, My IP Address Changes Instantly As I Connect The WiFi Network The Next Time. So, I Need A Flash Or A Fix For This Problem To Keep Both My IP Address & MAC Address Stable So That They Never Change After Connect-Disconnect And I Am Not Blocked Automatically In A Secured WiFi Network After Saving My IP Which Would Become Stable After Any Suggestion Of A Flash Or Fix Given By Your Team. I Hope That I Get A Solution Soon For My Issue. Thanks To The XDA Team!!!
Hi All,
I've bought a WiFi repeater/extender with the intention of connecting to my P9 hotspot and connect to all my devices at home using my phone data allowance, but every time I switched the hotspot off and on again, it never connects back to the extender again.
Finally after some head bagging while trying to troubleshoot the issue, I've realised that the Mac address changes automatically every time I switch the Hotspot on and off, rendering the range extender useless!
After some google search, I've realised that is called Mac Randomization and it's a stupid feature.
I also tried a Samsung Note 8 and this doesn't happen at all!
Do you know a way to disable the MAC randomization on my Huawei P9 please?
Many thanks
Yes, on Nougat, Tethering hotspot changes MAC address every time it's turned on.
But I tested also with Oreo, P9 rebranded to Chinese AL10c00b540 - and on Oreo, Tethering hotspot keeps always the same MAC address.:
Three screenshots, for each test I even renamed the Tethering hotspot name, but it's MAC address remained constant
---
PS: For the matter of fact, MAC Randomisation is something else:
- Device should change its MAC address when connecting to different WiFi Access points / Hotspots, to protect its privacy
(not to change the MAC address for its own Tethering hotspot)
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.theregister.co.uk/AMP/2017/03/10/mac_address_randomization/
And regarding to that, both Nougat and Oreo do not change their MAC addresses when connecting to different WLAN connections, but always and everywhere connect with the same MAC addresses (you can test by installing eg Network Utilities app from Playstore)
Anyway, I don't know why on Nougat it changes iMAC address of its own Tethering hotspot (and why not on Oreo), and I don't see any settings to control that
