Hardware fault? - Xperia SP Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I keep getting these mhl wakelocks that never used to happen, I changed back to a rom I knew this never happened on but guess what? It is happening! Dmesg says mhl usb detected over and over and I'm getting no deep sleep at all. Is my usb port shot?

Well on every ROM I'm getting output for mhl issues in dmesg, sometimes its shown as "suspend_backoff", I get other strange behavior on cm ROMs too such as screen refusing to sleep and charging lights staying on. I'll get some screenies when I have some good stats, I'm sure its hardware because I'm alone in this, and it happens even before I restore any apps

Here is normal dmesg:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
And here is dmesg when this issue strikes:
Sent while my supervisor wasn't looking

Solved, I needed to bend the middle pins back up to the centre, I think they were getting interference from the outer metal of my usb

[Q] how do you reboot after flashing from the SD?

In fact, after it says it has flashed with success i can only resort to opening the battery cover and reset with the red button...since i am cooking a rom - i don't want to do it since the battery cover will become eventually loose!
...how do you to reboot it ?
simply, by making a hole in the battery cover

indeed! cooking roms and testing the various installs/lite/languages we would need a USB reboot system controlled by foot, like in automated manufacturing!

It already exists, but you will have to put your laptop on the floor and install EveryWAN Remote Support (free software), which can reboot your device through USB cable, then learn to type with your feet ...

Maps 4.4 navigation disabled??

Just updated to the new 4.4 maps and navigation for Canada seems to be disabled again. Anyone else having this problem??
I just updated my google maps to ver. 4.4 and Navigation is working fine for me. You may want to completely uninstal and reinstall the app see if that fixes your problem.
Works fine in the UK.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I think it's a software switch on Google's side that's misbehaving.

Were you under trees? If so, the GPS on most phones is not sensitive or accurate and tree cover will greatly throw it off. Stand out in the open, not near any trees or large buildings, then compare.

Looks like he's trying to have it locked while in the building - which might also throw it off.

Told you so, dont double post.
Sgtabhi has answered your question in AOKP thread? Didn't you read?

yes he answer that it is normal !!!!
but why happend to me and no one else !!!
and u said u saw be4 similar issues so there is a proplem then
it is impossible that samsung said that there will be problems in touch when charging ... are their devices in beta !!!
It is because of your house power supply.
That is why I said try charging somewhere else. Bring to your office, or friends, or relatives place.
Use voltage stabilizer. Test all you want.
Besides, capacitive touch screen depends on proper voltage/grounding to work.
If your car manual said don't turn on the engine while filling up gasoline, will you still do it?
And when it explodes to blame the car being in "beta" stage?
Certain device works in certain condition.
It is good that SGTABHI found the manual saying exactly that, so you can rest assure your device is 100% like others.
iwill give a try and i hope that it from house powe supply !! but i doubt that

[HELP!][URGENT]Screen Not Displaying anything!

Hi guys, I have a problem, my Ace's screen isn't showing anything..
What happened:
Well, I was fine using Lewa..then after a sudden, weird colors came up, so I pulled the Battery and started the phone again..only the soft buttons made light up.
I know this is hardware because:
1. ADB picks up the device ( No errors in LOG)
2. These pictures:
Screenshot: ( Took with ADB )

Actual Screen: (Blank only BLN)
I can't take this back to repair, so have any of you encountered this problem and fixed it at home?
===============================================================================================================
Update:
I opened her up, guess what..water, lots and lots of it. And most of the water is around and on the Display adapter.
So I am going to try and clean it with Alcohol and if that fails I'll buy a new screen (Cheap about 20$)
Luckily I have 2 Ace's
Is the recovery working (displaying)?
Edit: i also have an problem like this so i had flashed the rom via odin.
Now its working fine..
No, it's hardware...i'll update the OP to show you why. And no it doesn't nothing does.

Ohh i see..
But how comes the water there?
In the actual meaning that the phone is totally packed only charger socket and headphone socket is opened..
It's not water it's moist..from the air. And no everything.

Don't try washing with alcohol unless you are sure...! You might get into a bigger trouble ! Just connect your phone to the charger & let it heat up. The moisture flies off by itself.

No, no. It left a residue, and yes alcohol will work. I have been using it for about 2 months now with the residue on.

I'm not sure what could cause that problem. I would boot into recovery or fastboot to see if the problem still exists. If it does, this would lead me to believe that it is a hardware issue. To be sure, try installing a different ROM.

It is happening in recovery mode as well.
I'm tempted to say it's a hardware issue since it appears in Recovery too.
Did you ever open up your phone to replace the battery?

yup, 2 months ago.
Maybe open it up and re-seat the cables?
did you get any moisture in there? or drop your phone? it's obviously a hardware issue if it shows up in recovery too. Looks like you busted the lcd display somehow. You'll probably need to buy a new screen.
Definitely a hardware issue. Sorry man.
