Hey guys, need a little help here and wanted to see if anyone else had this problem. My pictures are being saved to my microsd card. If I use quickpic for my gallery, delete a pic, it's gone from the gallery. If I restart the phone, it's back. I've tried going in through astro and deleting the files, and it just hangs, won't delete anything. I was able to go in through the camera app, then review pics through the camera app and delete from there and it worked, but I have no idea why quickpic, the stock gallery app, and astro all can't delete the pics! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
And just to clarify, I'll delete a picture in quickpic, so it doesn't show up there. But if i go through astro and look in my pictures, the pics are still there, so when I restart the phone, it reloads the pics into the quickpic gallery.
Use build in file manager to delete stuff from SDCARD, google screwd everyone up by locking up sdcard functionality , the only way to fix it is by having root.

Wow, that's unbelievable, I used the built in file manager and it worked, that's ridiculous that you can't even delete pictures from the stock gallery app either. Thanks for the help!
Man, what a pain. how can this even be an issue? unbelievable!
Not true. You can delete photo's from the stock gallery. I just did it with a photo located on my external sd card.
Also, from what I understand about the external SD changes Google made, it would be mostly the application developers fault if something like that doesn't work correctly. An app can only write to it's own folder on the external SD, but can read all. When uninstalling, the applications folder is also deleted. I imagine this would be very tricky with pictures as you don't want to store them in 2 locations. I guess this would actually render a stand alone gallery app and file manager app useless in Kitkat when dealing with external SD files.
Also, it says this on Quickpic's page in the play store, "Can't modify the external storage in Kitkat." Sorry bro.

Hey Guys,..
I have this little annoyance.
When ever i add pictures to my phone,
or delete pictures from my phone,
The gallery doesnt update!
Meaning,
When i add pictured to my phone, i dont see them in the gallery.
When i remove pictures from my phone, i still see them in the gallery.
And if i delete the pictures using the gallery it will remove them.
But not if i delete them using OI File Manager
The only way to get it to show whats current, is my rebooting my phone.
does anyone else have this?
Could there be something i need to exclude from my task killer which provides this service?
Its not a biggy, but its very annoying if i have to reboot my phone everything i want to see the adjustments.
p.s. it doesnt happen when i take pictures with my phone camera,
Then it does seem to update.
It seems that this phone, like many others, has a Gallery app that finds every damn picture imaginable on your device and tries to load a preview of it. Why can't there just be a certain folder where pictures are stored instead? Is this possible? I don't want my phone to find every picture on my SD card - this is for people who place pics on their phone unknowing of where they put it.
Thanks
With cm7 it loads those thumbnails in no time!

Oh, nice solution.. NOT
I found the solution. Create a file in the directory where the pic(s) exist called ".nomedia" and Android will not index/load the images after reboot.

x2, I was about to tell you about this
or just download the QuickPic app from the Market - it's free and allows you to move, share, hide and all kinds of other functions Gallery doesn't do.
I noticed that my Gallery app is showing I have no "albums" or anything. Up til now, it automatically added folders when I saved a pic, and it had a folder of pics I had on my SD2 card. Unfortunately this also affected the Multi Wallpaper App that I use. Any suggestions?
I am using Tnt 4.3.2.

There have been reported issues all over in regards to media getting deleted on the sd cards. so far IMHO is to create a blank .nomedia file on both the root AND your media folder (just to cover all basis). It has seemed to work for me so far and another tab that I get to work on.
basically use whatever file explorer you use and create a 'new file' and call it .nomedia (dot - nomedia) and that should cover it.
Hope that helps some.
Thanks for the suggestions. But unfortunately, they did not work. Let me give you some more symptoms....
The pics are still on the storage cards. I can see then with my file app. When I try to open one of the pics, jpegs, Gallery will open it, but very slowly... thinking first, going to a blank screen, and then a few seconds later, displaying the file. If I choose to view it with ESFile Explorer, the pic comes up almost immediately. It's almost as if Gallery is unable to acknowledge the existence of the files unless forced to.

I have never gotten photos to show up in gallery. I use JustPictures and it works great. It works with pics on the device and any online services.
.nomedia solution works great

this fixed my issue too thank you
Hi all,
I have my brand new IS for a while. I had no problem with setting a custom ringtone or photos taken by cam. but a while ago (im not sure when or why) it starts to behave weird. the device doesn't see my music files anymore, i can not choose any custom ringtone. After running Music app, it says "No Music Found" but i can see the file is there( via Astro File Manager etc.).
Same thing happened for photos, too. after taking photos, i can't see them with Gallery app but i see they are in sdcard/DCIM/100MEDIA as usual?
Hope i could tell the problem, any help appreciated..
The apps seem very very bad at refreshing new data off the sdcard. I find unmounting/mounting does the trick.

Thanks for the repy but it doesn't work. Neither Unmount > Mount nor Disable Fast Boot>Unmount>Reboot . I can not see previous photos taken with phone even by the quick button at camera screen.
I can change ringtone by an external app like "Android Movie or Zedge etc." But after restarting the device, it selects default one that shipped with the phone and ignore my custom ringtones.. really weird..
Is a common problem in stock. I thought that making remounting the SD card and afterwards make a photo and than go to gallery should start the reindex. Than start your HTC music app. Should have everything in it by then.
Note: reindexing can take a little while.

Not working..
What i did: Unmount > Mount SDCard. Take a photo > Go to gallery. After a quick refreshing process, there's only latest photo. After a reboot, latest photo is gone, too. Yet no tracks in Music
Just a wild guess, maybe your sdcard is corrupted? FAT32 is very easy to get into such problem. Perhaps you can do a scandisk from a PC.

What is this topfoolery? There is NO option I can find to have it scan both memories for images and videos either... Any suggestions?

Did, nothing. Media storage too. Fixed permissions as well, still nothing. Might just go ahead and try moving things off the card and putting them back on, but that's a PITA if its the only way. And post-research, the folders do NOT contain .noimage or whatever that file is that may be telling the system not to add those folders.

Another approach is to use something other than Gallery to see if the problem resides in your phone setup or the Gallery app itself. I recommend QuickPic for this.
