I noticed that my Gallery app is showing I have no "albums" or anything. Up til now, it automatically added folders when I saved a pic, and it had a folder of pics I had on my SD2 card. Unfortunately this also affected the Multi Wallpaper App that I use. Any suggestions?
I am using Tnt 4.3.2.

There have been reported issues all over in regards to media getting deleted on the sd cards. so far IMHO is to create a blank .nomedia file on both the root AND your media folder (just to cover all basis). It has seemed to work for me so far and another tab that I get to work on.
basically use whatever file explorer you use and create a 'new file' and call it .nomedia (dot - nomedia) and that should cover it.
Hope that helps some.
Thanks for the suggestions. But unfortunately, they did not work. Let me give you some more symptoms....
The pics are still on the storage cards. I can see then with my file app. When I try to open one of the pics, jpegs, Gallery will open it, but very slowly... thinking first, going to a blank screen, and then a few seconds later, displaying the file. If I choose to view it with ESFile Explorer, the pic comes up almost immediately. It's almost as if Gallery is unable to acknowledge the existence of the files unless forced to.

I have never gotten photos to show up in gallery. I use JustPictures and it works great. It works with pics on the device and any online services.

It seems that this phone, like many others, has a Gallery app that finds every damn picture imaginable on your device and tries to load a preview of it. Why can't there just be a certain folder where pictures are stored instead? Is this possible? I don't want my phone to find every picture on my SD card - this is for people who place pics on their phone unknowing of where they put it.
Thanks

Oh, nice solution.. NOT
I found the solution. Create a file in the directory where the pic(s) exist called ".nomedia" and Android will not index/load the images after reboot.

x2, I was about to tell you about this
or just download the QuickPic app from the Market - it's free and allows you to move, share, hide and all kinds of other functions Gallery doesn't do.
My gallery is picking up every single folder that I have with images in it for some reason. I define the folder as hidden but it still picks it up. Even when moving pictures from one folder to another, it sometimes takes days to see the change in the gallery, even after media scans...
I am running Cognition v3.02, could this be a problem with my rom?

1. If u want no app to pick up media from any folder, create an empty file in it and name it ".nomedia".
2. If u want gallery only not to pick, rename the folder to start with a ".".gallery skips looking into folders beginning with a ".".
If u put the .nomedia file it wont be picked by any app, not just gallery.

Make a text file, rename it to .nomedia and place it in any folder you don't want scanned by media scanner.
I see some 1 near me to it
I already renamed the folders that I didn't want it to find and put a "." In front of it, but it finds them anyway.
Ill try the .nomedia thing and see if it works

I believe you misunderstood. You don't put the files IN the .nomedia folder, you go to the location where the files are and make a .nomedia folder in there.
For example, say you have some icons in a folder that is named "icons". Us My Files or Astro to open that folder so you can see all those files, press the menu button, create new folder, name it ".nomedia" without quotes, rescan.
That should take care of it. When you're done, it should be:
.nomedia(folder with nothing in it!)
image.jpeg
image.png
song.mp3
This screenshot is an example of what it should look like.
And if you just have certain pictures or files or icons that you don't want to show up, but are in the same folder, easiest way to do it is to create a new folder and move all files that you don't want visible into that folder, and within that folder make a .nomedia folder and rescan.

Lagfix fixes this up quite a bit! Also, depends on the r/w speed of your SD card I believe. Mine is a Class 2 and it is so slow, so now I put all Media on my Internal SD now. External is for all my music.

I am having a problem with transferring photos from my pc to my phone.
No matter what file I try to transfer them to. They won't be recognized. Like they don't even exist.
I try to transfer them again to the same file to see if maybe it did not work but it says they are there. But when I go to check my gallery, there is no sign of them.
What is going on? Do I have a virus? Can anyone help?
Thanks.

OK so that helped with updating my contact pictures list, but I originally wanted to update my wallpaper. I use multi picture live wallpaper. And like I said any new picture I put onto my phone is just not recognized.
I'm just directly put my photos under a folder created by myself in the internal storage.

I have actually done that, but alas did not make a difference. If it makes any difference. I notice that whenever I either plug in my phone into my pc and/or move photos around the "Media Scanner Running" icon notifies me on and off for about 5 minutes even after I have finished. And it as well tends to randomly close any app and the app drawer when I open it.
OK just replying to myself but haha I am becoming more and more frustrated with this. It is also affecting my music as well. I transfer the music files from my pc to my phone and they are only in "My Files" app section. Not found in any of my music players.
Now I have recently downloaded a few apps for customization. Such as ADW Launcher EX, Widget locker, and a few others.
Would any of those somehow change things in my phone. I did pay for them.
Make sure there isn't a .nomedia hidden file in the directory where you placed your picture. Additionally unless you use a media scanning app to force media scan, you will need to restart your phone.

I think I am going to assume there is something wrong with my media scanner on my phone. It is always running and constantly popping up saying it is running, then force closing anything I have open.
Hi... I recently discovered that the image count in my phone gallery just got doubled. When I open any folder in the Gallery (except Camera folder), I see every image saved by me has a corresponding image (or icon) displayed in that folder. All folders in the phone Gallery (except Camera folder) have been affected. I have attached a screenshot of the contents of the Wallpapers folder. There is a pattern which follows; every saved image in the Gallery has got a corresponding blank image / icon. When I open the blank image / icon, the screen turns blank. I have to use the Home / Back key to move out. This has also affected the Videos folder. When I try to play the blank video / icon, it say "Cannot play this file". I ran the Antivirus (AVG Mobilation) scan on my phone, but it shows that my phone is clean. I connected my phone to the Laptop, and ran a manual scan (Kaspersky) on each of the Gallery folders, but still no defects were found. Surprisingly, when I accessed the Gallery folders from my laptop, all the blank Images / Icons were gone. The laptop was only showing images saved on my phone (no blank images / icons). The last application I installed was Foosball 3D (AZanf). I have uninstalled that app now.
However, I am able to delete those items manually. I don't know the cause of this problem. Is it a virus ? I have just explored my Gallery and come across this issue. Other areas of the phone might also have been affected, and I may be unaware of that. Please identify the glitch and help me sort out this issue.
Thanks a lot..
I had something like this happen to me, but I just hid those folders in Quickpic. Not sure what caused that.

However, this morning when I checked the Gallery again, I found that the blank files/icon have doubled; now there are 2 blank files/icons present for evry image in my Gallery. I had cleared out 1 folder yesterday, but that folder now contains 1 set of the blank files.

I did as u explained, cleared data frm the Settings... But the files are still there... They have not been deleted...
Also, I am not sure if these blank files are duplicates of the images. I understand tht they are non-existent (as they are not being reported by the antivirus, nor are they visible in the laptop).

Download SD Maid from Play store.
Go to system cleaner in SD Maid and delete all of your thumbnail files.
Then go to Media Storage in Settings Applications All and clear data and cache.
Reboot and all should be okay.
It will take time after the reboot for Media Storage to re-index your media files so be patient.

I would be very careful using that app. I had my sd card almost corrupted after using that app and clearing all the thumbnails.

Don't know if you noticed that it only happened to the images on external sdcard.
My way is to delete those corrupted images manually in Gallery.
I also find out that it usually happens after I flashed something in cwm or force close gallery application during media scanning.

Look for media storage app.. Clear its data.. Reboot the device and leave it for 5 to 10 minutes to rebuild everything up from scratch again. And u will be fine. I've had it and fixed it many times by doing this.

I've never had a problem with it.
It might depend on your read ahead and cache settings in your kernel for SD card if you're having problems.
You might also want to check how aggressive the I/O is on your kernel.
If you have problems with AS corruption it is extremely unlikely to be an app, more often than not it is your kernel.

I got the solution for my prob. Goto Settings --> Application --> All --> Media Storage --> Clear Data. Rebooted the device, waited for 10-15 mins for the cleared data (images + songs) to get reloaded. All the blank icons were cleared from the Gallery + Media Playlist. I did not use SD Maid.
However, I am very curious to know, whatever affected my Images + Songs, did it also affect any other data, as in some other files in the phone. I only know abt the Image & Songs coz I use them very frequently. But it might have happened that blank files were also created for other data as well, which are located deep inside some folder.
Also, do you have any idea what cld have created these blank files ? A crappy app or something ?

Hey guys, need a little help here and wanted to see if anyone else had this problem. My pictures are being saved to my microsd card. If I use quickpic for my gallery, delete a pic, it's gone from the gallery. If I restart the phone, it's back. I've tried going in through astro and deleting the files, and it just hangs, won't delete anything. I was able to go in through the camera app, then review pics through the camera app and delete from there and it worked, but I have no idea why quickpic, the stock gallery app, and astro all can't delete the pics! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
And just to clarify, I'll delete a picture in quickpic, so it doesn't show up there. But if i go through astro and look in my pictures, the pics are still there, so when I restart the phone, it reloads the pics into the quickpic gallery.
Use build in file manager to delete stuff from SDCARD, google screwd everyone up by locking up sdcard functionality , the only way to fix it is by having root.

Wow, that's unbelievable, I used the built in file manager and it worked, that's ridiculous that you can't even delete pictures from the stock gallery app either. Thanks for the help!
Man, what a pain. how can this even be an issue? unbelievable!
Not true. You can delete photo's from the stock gallery. I just did it with a photo located on my external sd card.
Also, from what I understand about the external SD changes Google made, it would be mostly the application developers fault if something like that doesn't work correctly. An app can only write to it's own folder on the external SD, but can read all. When uninstalling, the applications folder is also deleted. I imagine this would be very tricky with pictures as you don't want to store them in 2 locations. I guess this would actually render a stand alone gallery app and file manager app useless in Kitkat when dealing with external SD files.
Also, it says this on Quickpic's page in the play store, "Can't modify the external storage in Kitkat." Sorry bro.
