Flashing ROM, screen becomes unresponsive/TWRP. - Sprint HTC One (M8)

TWRP works fine till I go to install Viper ROM, then the screen goes unresponsive on AROMA. Any help?

It's an issue with Aroma if I recall correctly. You need to use the volume buttons to navigate the menus and use power to select.

I concur. It's an AROMA problem that apparently hasn't been figured out for Sprint yet. Volume and power buttons with some guesswork will get you there. Worked for me!

I know cm7 got it. But cm7 still not completed work for our phone. And I need solution for another rom. I think may be a deverloper can do it for stock rom or Tj style by moding buildprofile or something else

Also in MIUI... just like that, may be because using the same code.
i dont think its possible to even remap keys i have tried and failed...
what happens is that when our phone goes in sleep mode... the softkeys get disabled.

The volumes key still are hard key. As we used it in cwm recovery I think it could be done by mod.

Disabling power button altogether?

It would seem that the closer I get to buying my SGS III, the more my cappy starts to fall apart.
Recently the power button has been on the fritz, pressing itself and opening up the power menu at random intervals as well as turning my screen on and off whenever it damn well feels like it. It's infuriating to say the least.
Is there any way to completely disable the power button so I can just use workarounds until I get my SGS III? All of the searching I've done thus far has turned up nada.
Also, yes I have taken my phone out and cleaned it with compressed air and that didn't do a damn thing. I'm pretty sure I've knocked the connection loose from all of the abuse I've given it over the last year or so.

Go to /system/usr/keylayouts/aries- keypad.kl
And erase the line with key 116 power in it, and from there you can rename any key the new power button and then reboot. I just had to do this to my phone as well I feel your pain!

Awesome. Can I still use the key combo to get into recovery and boot my phone with the power button after I make the change?
And if I rename the search key to power button do I leave it as virtual or change it to wake?
Should it be:
Key 217 Power Virtual
Or
Key 217 Power Wake
I just want to get the syntax right the first time around. Again, you're awesome and thanks a ton!
Edit:
Got the power button remapped to the search key. Problem with that though, is that I forgot the capacitive keys don't register touch when the screen is off lol. Derp.
Edit2:
Went ahead and mapped it to a volume key. Thanks again for saving my sanity!

No problem. I don't know what rom you run but if you have the volume awake feature you can use the volumes to wake the phone and then use the search "power" button to lock and reboot and stuff.
Also this remap only applies once android has booted up so it has no affect on when in recovery or download or off anything like that.

Yeah im on AOKP, so I was going to use it like you described until I read somewhere that it changed the key used to boot up and get into recovery. I didn't want to take the chance of having to figure out how to boot my phone without a power button.

You could go to setting->display->volume key wakes up phone option. If youre worried about not being able to get into recovery, download rom manager if you dont already have it. There is an option to do several things like booting into recovery, backup roms, partition SD card, fix permissions, etc. What about that?

Thanks for the reply. I actually had that option enabled already when I was using the search key as a power button. Turns out though, that the volume keys dont wake the phone if you're playing music (which is like half of the time I have my phone on me outside of work lol). In the end, im just using the volume down key as a power button and its working well for me so far. If I need to get into recovery I can still use the power menu. As for not being able to power up the phone when it was bound to the search key, it's now turning on the moment the battery is inserted, so no worries there anymore ;P
Not to mention I should have my SGS 3 on Thursday, so it only has to work until then

Just an FYI

So I am a crack flasher and sometimes my phone locks up in aroma installer when flashing a ROM. I noticed sometimes when my phone locked, there wasn't a thing I could do to reboot it (holding power button or holding power+volume down). I would actually have to wait for the battery to die....it would piss me off! I finally found a fix for this. If your phone is locked up and won't reboot, put the phone up to a bright light and hold the power+volume down buttons for 8 seconds and poof! Your phone will reboot, just thought I would share this as I found this method VERY useful!

Is the light really necessary? I got stuck in Aroma and just held power for about 12 seconds and poofed.

It doesn't work for some. Another option is to connect your phone to a computer and adb reboot

Sometimes it is, trust me...I've gone as far as tying hair ties around the power button so the softkeys blink to help the battery die....and sometimes the adb reboot does work but right now my computer is non functional so it does no good for me

Or, use the volume controls to navigate and power to select. Never freezes using buttons.

Just my :2cents:
Holding down the power button on most, if not all electronics will eventually power it down. It's a safety built into devices that you're unable to remove the battery from.
aside from using the volume and power buttons, boot into fastboot and erase cache before flashing. And waiting a few seconds in between making selections in aroma and after the initial load into aroma installer. I haven't had a single aroma lockup yet.

Well this is a new kind of brick...

My wife has the s5839i which I rooted and installed SGS3 v4.0 on.
I also installed CWM Recovery too.
Everything was working fine for around 3 weeks and then last night, she was playing a game which became sluggish and caused the phone to become none responsive. She took her battery out and popped it back in again and when she did... this happened:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHz0z7Fkpeg&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Now, last night, it was still booting but thw boot logo never disappeared although a small strip at the top was visible which was displayed correctly. You could just see the clock and battery as well as media scanner running / compleated. Then it would say something about low memory, the screen would go blank and then that was that.
The screen was none resposive nor were the menu or back buttons. I did get 'some' luck with the menu and volume buttons but the only one which always works is the power button.
Download mode and Cwm recovery do not work HOWEVER, by removing the battery, then plugging in the usb cable then pressing power, volume + & - for 3 seconds followed by only keeping hold of volume + & -, then pressing volume + once then menu. It detects the phone in oden 3 (not 4)
I managed to flash the stock firmware which I have done at least 6 times now using different techniques including using the .pit file but now the phone is just stuck on a boot loop and still looks the same.
Anyone ever seen this before or know what to do next other than launch it out of the window?
Thanks
Chiller.

Hi Chillerhippie, you should ask your questions about S5839i in the S5830i/M/C subforo . Good luck.

Factory Recovery??

I can't seem to get my phone to boot into recovery. I do the power-volume up and it boots to a "Hardware key control mode" but it boots to system after that. Am I missing something.
I have the t-mobile LG D959 G FLEX TITAN SILVER KIT. That is how it is listed on the box.
Turn phone completely off, make sure it is unplugged from the charge cable. Then hold volume down and power together until you see the screen say recovery mode. First it will show the LG splash screen. You must continue to hold it until you see the words recovery mode.

I thought it was power and volume up not down. BUT, it doesn't matter which volume key, they both bring me to the hardware key control window. It stops there to select on off or cancel. From this screen, you have to make a selection which requires you to release the buttons. Once leaving this screen with whatever choice is made it boots up to system. Yes phone is unplugged and a complete shutdown is made.
I'm on the Sprint version and the way I said gets me into recovery. It's strange that it doesn't work for you. Just to make sure. I start off by holding volume down then I push and hold power with it until recovery mode shows

Leave the power button when you see the logo. And continue pursuing rest of the key
Sent from my GT-N7100 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
These are the instructions from the t-mo user manual:
Power off the device and ensure it is not connected to any USB cables.
At the same time, press and hold the following keys for 8 seconds:
Power key
Volume down key
When the LG Logo is displayed, release and then immediately re-hold the Power key.
When the 'FACTORY HARD RESET' screen displays, release the keys.
Press the Power key to reset or one of the Volume keys to cancel.
Press the Power key to confirm the reset. The reset will start immediately.
Still can't get recovery, so I went into Titanium Backup, and rebooted to recovery from there. Reboots, I see the android with a little diamond kinda thing in his torso for probably less than a second, screen goes black and LG logo pops up and it boots system. Curious if this can be attributed to rooting? Any other ROOTED tmo users confirm they can boot to recovery, please.
I used supsersu to unroot and was able to achieve recovery. Re-rooted and no recovery.????
this may be a silly question, but have you flashed CWM or TWRP?(not sure if there are versions for this phone)

No, stock phone except for root, I prefer TWRP and am waiting. This is really a snappy phone and I am happy with it the way it is for now. Been a long time since I had a stock phone, and this one works great so far. Not in any hurry to put a custom rom on it, Not to good with ADB, but I want to make a recovery image.
I never had a LG phone before, so I am not sure if your problem getting into recovery comes from the fact you are rooted, but still have a stock recovery instead of a custom one like twrp/CWM..
I cant decide on this phone, the Xperia Z1S, or the note 3; I have to drop Sprint this week because their network sucks and my family cant make calls from the house, and I cant decide which phone to get..
love the way the flex feels and looks, but its 4.2; sony screen is a bit small coming form a One Max and Note 2, and the Note 3 is kinda boring....tons of roms to choose from for the note 3..
decisions, decisions...the beauty of Android! :cyclops:
I messed up and flashed a wrong recovery now I need the stock img anyone have it? ?
