Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo - Combine Forums??? - Samsung Gear 2 Neo
The Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo's have nearly identical hardware with exception to Gear 2 having a camera. Can't the two forums be merged to one, "Gear2/Neo".
It's annoying having to switch between the two forums to see new content posted.
+1
I would be all for that instead of having to jump around both forums to make sure I am not missing anything.

+1 from me!!
+1 please do
Helpful Mods - any chance/update we can combine the two?
I think if they should stay separate until we find out if the roms are the same. Much the same as the 6 separate Note 3 forums.
My 2 cents says combine as well
Ok many of you asked for separate forums for the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo. Now you're wanting them to be merged? We can't keep going back and forth with this. It's not easy to make separate forums then have to merge them again. It's actually easier if you just go to the Gear 2 forum if you have a Gear 2 watch and to the Gear 2 Neo if you have that watch or perhaps feel free to venture in each other's forum.
Next thing you know, we combine the two watch forums then there will be another outcry to separate the forums again. We can't keep doing this. If you want to make things easy for yourself, just bookmark each forum.

If they were identical, there wouldn't be a Gear 2 and a Gear 2 Neo. Perhaps the original request shouldn't have been for two separate forums for each. Apparently at the time of the requests, no one thought the two devices were identical. Now they're identical.
If you want to keep going through this back and forth with the merging and unmerging of these devices then please contact an admin.
Maybe I missed the merge your but when the gear 2 and gear to née were released, everyone for both devices was posting talking on the gear forums which gear and gear 2 are totally different so the seperated them as we all asked but when they did so they made the gear 2 and a gear 2 neo 2 separate forums which is what users are asking g to be combined
Far as I know the gear 2 and gear 2 neo were never combined I the past these 2 devices are identical aside from one having a camera in it

Show me a thread - or a single post for that matter, where a user requested to have two separate forums for Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo. All the discussion about having a separate forum was to isolate Gear 2 from the original Gear 1.
Not trying to pick a fight here, but just wish moderators/admins can be more open minded. This thread was posted on the Gear 2 Neo forum. If you go on the Gear 2 forum, you will see people making the same request as I have. It does not make any sense to switch between Gear 2/ Gear 2 Neo forum when the content applies to both hardware.
This is almost the same as having, a separate forum for White Samsung Galaxy Note 3, and a Black Galaxy Note 3. Or a better comparison, a 16gb SIII forum, and a 32gb SIII forum.

Open minded? You have no idea. What doesn't makes sense is people telling us to make separate forums for these two devices and then telling us to merge them again.
I also said contact an admin if you want this stuff merged again. Done with argument.

vanessaem totally understand where your coming from we all did want the merge but when they separated the gear and the gear 2 & gear 2 neo they separated the gear 2 and the gear 2 neo into separate forums (they took these 2 forums out of the "gear forums which is what we asked for ) I think the misunderstanding is that they separated the gear 2 from the gear 2 neo is all which we wanted combined together but separate from the gear forum . can totally understand the frustration as there have been many posts over this , but as listed above should clear things up.
100% good idea
Ok here is the deal. We will not be merging the two forums at this time. Period. If need be, we will look into it at a later date but for now please do not create anymore threads such as this.

original topic at [Q] Proposal to merge all Galaxy S family into 1 neat and big sub forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=764084
this has been discussed before. Not many thought it was a good idea since there are some differences between the galaxy S phones depending on your carrier. I for one don't want to waste my time reading through topics that don't pertain to the Captivate. Nor do i want to keep searching for a subforum when this is already in place and easily found. Again, not many people will know to look for Galaxy S instead of Captivate or Vibrant.

If the SGS really was the same phone across all carriers it would make sense to merge all the sub-forums but seeing as how there is separate development going on for the Captivate vs. Vibrant (and soon the Epic as I'm sure things will work different with the hardware keyboard being the biggest difference)...
I would propose a shared general and themes & apps forum for all SGS users, because the hardware is similar enough that regular software is cross compatible. The development forums should be separate though, because each developing environment is different enough to have different fixes.

And actually when this was discussed before the majority of people thought the forums should stay combined. It was even put to an official vote (the consolidation option won) that was then ignored before the forums were split.

^bump^ as i don't have any Mod power to make it a sticky, much less make the original topic cross posted across the 5 SGS forums
i think this is a great idea......if you click the link, they already have each of the development sections separated by each model, but the general, accessories, and themes sections are all put together as a "galaxy s" section. The accessories may not work so well since many of the cases and such will be different, but for the Themes section it will be great. It will allow things such as all the Vibrant fonts, swype themes, etc to be easily used on the captivate (for newbs like me that don't want to browse all the forums and test things that may work).

sorry about the cross forum posting guys, but until we get this other issue solved Proposal to merge all Galaxy S family into 1 neat and big sub forum this is the only way to keep in touch across the separate forums
I voted for it in the other thread and I still support it now. The split is hurting development, and joining them will create a much better community environment, I think. There will be some confusion yes, but there already is now. And there will be regardless. (Especially given joys like the T-Mobile Vibrant / Bell Vibrant naming wonder.)
Suggestion: if forums can be crosslinked, keep the current hierarchy more or less intact, but merge the "Apps" boards for the Galaxy phones into one (possibly with child subforums for apps that are literally specific to a carrier/model) that still appears in the list where the current model-specific app board appears (ie, it would appear as "Galaxy S Applications" under the captivate, vibrant, epic4g, international model, etc hierarches, but would all point to the same board. Then, create another board for galaxy s development issues that are really common to two or more models -- kernel modules for sensors shared by multiple models, gps issues affecting the vibrant & captivate (& international model?), etc. Emphasize that THIS board is NOT for discussion of building new ROMs or Android Distros, but rather is more for AOSP-oriented developers getting deeper into reducing the platform's dependence on Samsung for support and drivers, and recognizing that things like the video chip and gps pretty much look the same across all of the Galaxy models from the kernel level. Once again, this would be listed in each of the model-specific hierarches, but they'd all point to the same physical board. This addresses the bulk of real-world problems: accessories are device-specific; ROMs (I personally prefer "Android Distro", because it recognizes that they're more of a starting point zero-day configuration than a literal carved-in-stone "ROM") are device-specific. Development has some parts that are device-specific, and a big part that's family-specific. Not every Galaxy S might have all the hardware that an epic4g has, but AFAIK the subset each other model has is still wired up internally the same way, to the same i/o ports and using the same sensor chips. If anything, there should also be forums to discuss lower-level development issues specific to a single carrier (Sprint and Verizon being two of the most obvious, since their back-end protocols for voicemail, text messaging, and other services aren't governed by a common standard the way GSM is, and DO in fact differ in some pretty arbitrary ways from each other).
Why not many ROMS for our S III mini
on other phones like g note g note II or s III or nexus any many others phones has bunch of ROMs but this galaxy s III mini has only stock roms little customization custom roms i mean still stock rom
Just because...

I realised a time ago that I have purchased a girls phone Every Dev or mega geek buys these bloody great mega sized phones packed with spec busting power. The s3 mini just too normal. Sent from my GT-I8190 using Tapatalk 2
I think is cuz not so many people has it. Not because its a girly phone, cuz is not. I came from Atrix 4g that has many custom roms and in specs is similar to the s3 mini.
Exactly the same phone I came from mostly due to specs too. Sent from my GT-I8190 using Tapatalk 2
Do we need 2 forums
Is the gear 2 and gear 2 neo different enough to really need to forums? It makes sense for phones like SG4 where putting the wrong carriers rom can brick your phone. Also with millions more potential users, you can really get answers you need from any of the forum groups.

Can S2 owners and S1 owners ask for an seperate S2 section
All these S2 posts are doing my head in, I have an S1 and i cannot see anything but S2 threads and posts. S2 owners you need your own section, S1 owners we need to get rid of our S2 relatives, they came for a day or two and now we cannot get rid of them. Can you add to my request for an S2 section in the link below. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660354&page=1913 John.

If you've added the requests in that thread, it will get picked up... there should be no obvious reason why the S2 shouldn't have its own Fora, but it really depends on many factors... I would advise against flooding the request thread... one request is enough. Seriously. Thread closed.

Oculus on non 2015 Samsung devices
Does anyone know if the kernel is what is required to run Oculus, or is a ported ROM sufficient? Looking at the possibility of dedicating an old S5 to being a Gear VR device, but I don't want to buy Oculus Gear VR if there is no way to make that work. Anyone tried? Sorry in advance if this is a redundant thread. I've seen various questions answered regarding compatibility, but no concrete answer on what the Oculus stuff is tied to.
