Hello,
Does anyone know if there's a cover for the Z2 tablet in the style of Apple's smart cover? I'd like something that attaches to the side (or top or bottom) and covers the screen, but isn't a full case that completely encloses the device. Unfortunately I haven't seen anything like that yet though.
i don't see any hinges or any place to grab a cover without using the whole tablet, even the official cover isn't like that. Sorry
Yeah there seems to be plenty of Smart Case type cases, but not Smart Covers.

Saw many threads on cases and screen protectors, but I am more interested in a screen cover that only covers the screen. Does anyone know any good ones? They don't have to have the magnet thing that switches on/off the screen.
You mean something like the smart cover?
I don't think the nexus 7 has enough strategically placed magnets under the surface of the tablet for a magnetic front only cover, closest you will come is probably the Poetic Portfolio.
Been waiting a while to get this and it has finally arrived and the review is done.
Very interesting case

It does look interesting. You mentioned a link in your review, but I didn't see one. Where did you get it? I did a search and didn't come up with anything. Do you think the magnetism will be a problem? I always wonder about that.
Thanks for all the case reviews! This one does look interesting..
Not bad, a TPU case with front protection, stand, and very thin. I am always worried about dropping it face first with a TPU case and this one solves that problem. But does the magnet interfere with GPS, S Pen?
yeah...nice looking case...but can't find it anywhere online for buying it....
I've been looking at this case for a while and found it for sale here:

Nice case. It would be even better if it came with an integral back cover like the Samsung flip case so it would be even thinner.
I did some Googling and found some more pictures:

Lol...but one of the reason I like thus flip case is because it's the only one I can find now that also protects the back and the sides.

After a closer look I have noticed that the Momax case is actually different from the Benks case.
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/momax-the-core-smart-case-for-samsung-galaxy-note-2-black-p37081.htm
I am now wondering if the stand of the Benks case can also be used in portrait mode as the Momax case.
all of the magnets are going to affect the s pens use as well as possibly damage your memory card
I recently got the brown Momax case, and after experimenting with it, there does NOT appear to be any effect on the S-Pen from the magnets in the case. This is after tinkering under a variety of circumstances. Overall I'd say I'm very happy with this case because it does not add bulk to my already large Note 2, and it uses a clever design to enable the device to stand on its own. I would definitely recommend it.

Hey,
can you easily flip the cover all the way back? In the case of typing, chatting, writing is it a problem having the cover hanging around when one-handed? does the cover wiggle too much?
Love this case and I have checked the youtube reviews (Olis4, Himesh123456789, Milkerz5) but they don't show the cover flipping all the way to the back... :/
Thanks in advance...
That's pretty clever - too bad the TPU case color doesn't come in black.

I am considering buying this case, but I'm not sure about the magnets.
Do they interfere with the compass or the S-Pen when the flap is wide open or fully folded backwards (not in a stand position)?
Also, how is one-hand operation with this case on?
It's annoying funny how all the reviews omit such important aspects and only tell us about the design...

Sorry for the delay, I did not receive an email that someone replied here until just now. Anyways, yes, the cover flips all the way back to essentially become flat. I didn't have an issue with the cover hanging during one-handed operation. It didn't really wiggle too much either since the phone is secured on the back part of the case pretty nicely. It was my daily driver over Samsung's case for the phone. :good:
As to the magnets, I did not experience any interference although I have to admit that my use of the S-Pen was light. Tinkering and testing when I first got the case showed that there was no magnetic interference though. To expand on my level of one-handed operation - I have smaller hands and did not have an issue with the case. I would typically read Kindle on there and hold it in my left hand, my fingers would come around to the right side of the screen, and I was able to turn pages no problem. I never typed one-handed though, and I always type in portrait mode.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the reply, it's very helpful.
How about the compass? Do you notice any significant deviation when the case is on w/ the flap in various positions vs when the case is off? For example, I would expect that the deviation (if any) is smaller when the flap is opened at 180 degrees, since the magnets are farther away from the phone, than in a fully folded position.
I'm finding myself using the navigation increasingly often, so it's important to have accurate sensor readings.
Again, thanks a bunch!
I would think that navigation software using gps signal only.

I think that the compass is used in pedestrian navigation (which I use), when you turn around in a spot. How else would it know the heading?
I too am interested in a definitive answer in how much the magnet effects spen and the compass.
I've also been looking at the zenus cases which don't use a magnet, but I'm unsure whether it can hold the phone up like a kickstand and it's a lot of money to gamble on if it doesn't.
Hi
I've been using the Samsung flip cover case that came with my S 10.5. That's the case that attaches to the two notches on the back and covers the front. I guess it's good to protect the glass and it's convenient to turn off the screen.
However I find that it's awkward for me to use. Every time I drop the tablet it's almost always because I'm struggling with the cover. The flip cover is great when I'm not using the tablet. Not so good when I'm actually using it.
Can someone recommend a good minimal case I can get for this. I want something as light as possible that gives me a little grip and a bit of protection. I'm willing to give up the close to turn off screen function.
Thanks in advance

I am using this gel TPU case.. it just protects the back and sides.. against any drops.. and gives you better grip.. it does not add any weight or dimension.. It comes with a stylus and screen protector, but I'm not using those http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L8R5SMO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
When I travel, to protect the glass, I use this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K0CVNXG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I have this to watch movies and read Reddit in bed (with the universal adapter from their site) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006RG21ZS/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And one of these to use the tablet on tables http://www.amazon.com/Rasfox®-AUROR...d=1424658496&sr=8-9&keywords=ipad+stand+metal
Those look good. Thank you.
I would suggest some slip cover. Those gel covers aren't for carrying and still ad bulk when using.

4-5oz. This case is very light, even compared to the ivso/finite case. I had this for my Tab S 8.4 (and it's predecessor for the Tab Pro 8.4) Going with this style of case means the thickness is only added to the back rather than both sides.
I am currently using this case, it adds a little bulk but I prefer this case over the others I have tried. http://www.amazon.com/MoKo-Samsung-...r=8-7&keywords=samsung+galaxy+tab+s+10.5+case
I have also used this one, http://www.amazon.com/Fintie-Samsun...r=8-3&keywords=samsung+galaxy+tab+s+10.5+case there are many like this on Amazon to chose from, this is a very light case that does not add much bulk. The screen on/off magnet works fine on both of these cases.
OP do you have need for quick stand function? If not you may want to consider getting a sleeve case instead. They are cheap, light weight and can protect the screen. Also unlike every other type of case they add no bulk to the tablet when you are holding it, and the Tab S without a case is very light.

Thanks for suggestion.
No I don't need quick stand. Just something to cover back and edges and makes it grippy.
What's a sleeve case. Is that like a pocket / envelope type case. That's good for placing it in a bag but I don't travel much with my tab. I just need something for daily use.
Btw, I bought one of these
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NWAA410/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_jIJ-ub1X8Q34K
BIG MISTAKE. It does not want to go on and stay on and the back is way too slippery. I don't like the feel at all. I guess I should have gone with a TPU case like I planned to.
That case hurts my eye. The colours!

I didn't get that design. Just that brand and style.
This case is not sold in the US yet but I got mine on ebay for $50.
The case is not what I expected. I thought the flip cover would clasp or stay closed but the cover slides when using one handed.
Pros:
Case adds slight bumper on top, bottom and sides of device.
Good material, very soft
Easy NFC pairing
Volume and camera buttons are protected.
Cons:
Not transparent (off blue)
Nothing to keep flip cover in place (maybe velcro or a double sided tape might help)
Flip cover constantly slides
Takes away from the aesthetics of the device
Tbh, I'd like to remove the flip cover. I wish Sony would've released a case w/o gimmicks.
A couple extra photos since I can't add more thru the mobile app ?
I have this one as well as the leather solid front version which folds back behind a lot easier once the leather softens... this clear (frosty semi clear ) version, I think, is meant to be held sort of like a book with one hand holding it open while the other uses the touch screen. At least that's how I see most people using it on the trains in Tokyo.
The original Sony cases seem to be unnecessarily expensive.
If you get them in Japan the yen vs dollar helps ease that a bit. They are very well made though .
Does anyone have a dump of the nfc data contents of this Style cover?
Anyone try this updated Ztotop Case? Covers the pen and looks like it also fixes the magnetic issues on the original. Has a rating of F on fakespot but only has a couple of reviews.
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-10-5-2019/dp/B07Z4HKTM4/
I tried it and I did not keep it and got the original despite double the price.
Reasons were material quality and strength of the magnets - original case ones are stronger.
I like it
I had the older one which was snap around and I needed to add a piece of tape to open the spen hatch.
The magnets aren't the most strong but more than enough to hold it and the angle works, (and I can use the keyboard case keyboard wth it)
I just got this over the weekend and the magnet is not that strong. If you prop it up and you push on the power or volume down, the tablet will most of the time move by 1/4 inch. I do like the slim profile and how quickly I can remove the tablet when I want to hold just the tablet to play games.
So I just placed an order for this - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0822J5QWT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It looks like its basically the above case but without the magnets, (ie hooks on with edge guards. Will see how it is.

Most likely going to be heavier than the magnetic ones but it will have great protection though. :good: What I like about the magnetic ones is if I do need to hold the tablet for longer periods I can just remove the case easily and just hold the tablet by itself.

So I've had the case for a few days now. I only have 1 negative with it so far. The texture almost feels like a chalk board. My previous case felt nicer to the touch. But other then that, it attaches like my previous case (no magnetics). I can The sleep/wake function works fine, I won't lose the pen now because of the cover over it.
I also got this case with the plastic around. It protects the tab well. The pen flap can be a pain to open as it's flush and nothing to grip. Overall I'm happy with it.
