Make Chrome Remote Desktop Work! - Nexus 5 General

English:
Finally I made it work, it is related to an issue in chromeremotedesktophost.msi file
1. Download Chrome Remote Desktop Host
2. Install it. (if it works jump to step 6) If the installer fails you will get the following message "an error occurred while applying security settings..." etc etc
so I found that this is related to a language issue in the msi installer. you need to add Administrators to the net localgroup
3. Open CMD as an administrator
4. type "net localgroup /add Administrators" (without the quotes') and press Enter
5. Now Run Chrome Remote Desktop Host installer again, it should work!
6. Now install the Chrome Remote Desktop extention again.
7. Enjoy!
Spanish:
Finalmente dunciona, está relacionado con un problema con el archivo chromeremotedesktophost.msi
1. Descargar Chrome Remote Desktop Host
2. Instalar. (si funciona saltar al paso 6). Si el instalador falla, obtendrá el siguiente mensaje "an error occurred while applying security settings..." etc etc
encontré que está relacionado al idioma del instalador msi. Necesita agregar Administrators al net localgroup
3. Abrir CMD como administrador
4. escribir "net localgroup /add Administrators" (sin las comillas) apretar Enter
5. Ahora installar el archivo Chrome Remote Desktop Host otra vez, debería funcionar
6. Ahora instale otra vez la extensión Chrome Remote Desktop otra vez.
7. Disfrutar!

Realy cool!

What does this do that this ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.chromeremotedesktop) doesn't?

For non-english speaking country, it is not possible for now to activate remote access service on the computer without this manipulation. This is the desktop chrome extension which is broken.
This has nothing to do with the android app.

Ah now I see.

But I will need another wi-fi board and I haven't.

[Q] [Help] Razr I - Flash Player - Urgent

Good morning folks,
Bought a Motorola Razr I yesterday and realized that it doesn't support Flash Player. It was then that I discovered that Adobe removed the Google Flash Play for Android version 4.0.4.
I tried to find in various forums a form of manual installation, but I didn't succeed in all tentative, including in the apk from Adobe Web site reported to be corrupted.
Does anyone have a solution for this pls? Tried contacting Motorola that said do not have a solution today. I find it incredible a phone this level do not have an alternative to run Flash.
I know we have open forums about this issue, but I found no one that really solved my problem
Regards,
Paulo.
Although Flash player is not available in the Play Store for some devices (Jelly Bean devices for example), as Adobe are slowly stopping their support for it, they can be side-loaded easily (by getting the apk file and installing it).
This is not the issue with this phone.
The issue is the x86 intel chip used in this phone - Adobe have not developed a version that can be simply side-loaded as above.
But work is underway to hack something together for it here:

Unlock bootloader Latinamerica (Perú, Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Panamá, etc)

En castellano en el 2do post.
After an arduous search , I managed how to unlock the bootloader my smart phone.
The problem: In Latin America the cellular band we use is 850Mhz/1900Mhz while the rest of the world uses 900Mhz/1800Mhz . If a European rom is installed in our smartphones these will fail because they can not connect to the network.
So it was not possible to unlock our bootloader because none JB version existed for Latin America in the official list of LG and we could not install a version of another region.
Solution: After much searching I read somewhere, I honestly do not remember where, that a mexican said that he had just bought a P880 and this came with JB . Then I began to search for this rom, after a couple of hours I managed to find it at a chinese download page. It was a painful download 50Kb/s (I have a 10mb internet speed) , I tried it and IT WORKED !
Too many words , this is how I did it:
- The original instructions to install it I read it from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1861942
- I do NOT responsible for any problems or inconvenience you may have with your smartphone by following this procedure.

b ) LGUnitedMobileDriver_S497MA20_WHQL_ML_Ver_1.0.exe

Unlock bootloader :
They can test for this post : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224020

If you already have the proper drivers installed you don't need to reinstall them. Probably they are installed by LG Tool, they should be working.

My Optimus 4X is from Claro - Perú, a latin american version, and I just flashed the first leaked V20A when it came out to be able to unlock the bootloader with laufersteppenwolf's procedure.
A friend of mine also told me he manually modified /sys/firmware/fuse/odm_reserved to 40000000c0 and it worked (using info taken from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2251407), but Idk if it is an adequate solution.

[How-To] Download official AT&T Firmware on your PC with every browser or Bluestacks

[How-To] Download official AT&T Firmware on your PC with every browser or Bluestacks
There is a new, easier (Somewhat) method of downloading the firmwares directly to your browser, it should only have to be done once and will work all the time.
Chrome:
1) Click the menu button at the top-right corner of the Chrome browser window, point to “More tools” and select “Developer tools” in the menu. (or just Ctrl + Shift + I)
2) Click on the 3 vertical dots on the top right corner (next to the x) that show ‘Customize and Control Devtools’ and select Settings (Or just press F1)
3) In the left columm, go to the “Devices” tab
4) Click on ‘Add Custom Device’
5) In ‘Device name’ name it anyway you want
6) Skip to the ‘User agent string’ textbox (I personally didn’t changed the values above this textbox and it worked just fine)
7) Copy this text: Mozilla/5.0+(Linux;+Android+4.4.2;+SAMSUNG-SM-N900A+Build/KOT49H)+AppleWebKit/537.36+(KHTML,+like+Gecko)+Version/4.0+Chrome/30.0.0.0+Safari/537.36
8) Next to the box, make sure ‘Mobile’ is selected.
9) Click ‘Add’ and you will be able to download the links normally.
Internet Explorer 11:
1) Search Google Chrome on google, download it and proceed to the above method
-OR-
In IE11, when you are on the "Error 403 Forbidden - You don't have permission to access the file on this server." page hit F12 > Emulation tab > User agent string dropdown: Select Custom, then paste the following string in: Mozilla/5.0+(Linux;+Android+4.4.2;+SAMSUNG-SM-N900A+Build/KOT49H)+AppleWebKit/537.36+(KHTML,+like+Gecko)+Version/4.0+Chrome/30.0.0.0+Safari/537.36 , then hit Refresh...the download will begin
Firefox:
1) Access the about:config page by typing ‘about:config’ in the address bar and press Enter
2) You will see a warning, click on the ‘I’ll be careful’ button to proceed
3) Type useragent into the filter box, look for the ‘general.useragent.override’ string, then:
a) If it exists, which normally shouldn’t, right click it and select modify and copy the following text: Mozilla/5.0+(Linux;+Android+4.4.2;+SAMSUNG-SM-N900A+Build/KOT49H)+AppleWebKit/537.36+(KHTML,+like+Gecko)+Version/4.0+Chrome/30.0.0.0+Safari/537.36
b) If it doesn’t exist, then create a new one by right clicking, then on the contextual menu point to ‘New’, and select ‘String’, name it ‘general.useragent.override’, click accept, then another text box will pop up with the name of ‘String value’ and copy the following text: Mozilla/5.0+(Linux;+Android+4.4.2;+SAMSUNG-SM-N900A+Build/KOT49H)+AppleWebKit/537.36+(KHTML,+like+Gecko)+Version/4.0+Chrome/30.0.0.0+Safari/537.36
4) Done
Note (Firefox): The following process will change your default user agent, affecting the way all webpages are shown, so they will look like you were browsing them from a table or cellphone, after all the downloads you need to make I recommend you chaging back to the original user agent, by heading into about:config, right clicking on the string you just created or modified (general.useragent.override) and then clicking on ‘Reset’.
Because all of the downsides of modifying your user agent as shown above, I recommend you to download an user agent switcher extension and configure it, so that changing and reverting the user agents becomes more user-friendly.
Thanks to: Rakuu for suggesting these method and TechFA for figuring it out.
Old, longer, heavy resources method:
We will need Bluestacks but we won't have to log in or anything (unless you want to).
Steps:
1) Search Bluestacks in google.
2) Head to their webpage (bluestacks com) and download the latest version (>200 MB).
3) Install it.
4) Once it starts up, open the stock browser and copy any of the links you want from the PE3 or PF3 MM update thread (I can't post links).
5) The download will start.
6) Once it's finished, open the browser and search 'ES File Explorer apk' on google, and then download it (I downloaded it from uptodown).
7) Wait until the apk download finishes and install normally.
8) Once it's installed open it.
9) Head to the ''Downloads'' directory.
10) Hold left click on the file you downloaded until it appears as selected.
11) In the lower right corner of the app, there are some options (cut, copy, paste, etc) click on more and select ''Share''
12) In the ''Share'' tab select ''Copy to Windows'' (should be the first option with the windows 8 logo), and wait until a prompt where you select where do you want your files to go, and click accept.
13) Done :good: (don't forget to change the file extension from .bin to .zip).
There is another method which implies you logging in, creating a Bluestacks account, etc that will allow you to download es file explorer from the playstore but it didn't work for me because of some authorization issues and it also takes a lot of time.

You are correct, it's based off the user agent. Bluestacks uses this one: Mozilla/5.0+(Linux;+Android+4.4.2;+SAMSUNG-SM-N900A+Build/KOT49H)+AppleWebKit/537.36+(KHTML,+like+Gecko)+Version/4.0+Chrome/30.0.0.0+Safari/537.36
To change the user agent for different browsers, google "change browser user agent". The first link from howtogeek.com should get you started.
I tested with IE11, when you are on the "Error 403 Forbidden - You don't have permission to access the file on this server." page hit F12 > Emulation tab > User agent string dropdown: Select Custom, then paste the above string in, then hit Refresh...the download will begin

You would be a complete savior if you still have them!
My G900A is stuck in limbo until I can get a hold of those.
All I need is PE3 to PF3 :crying:

I haven't been able to get any of these to work on chrome, opera, or firefox. I am stuck on PA1 because I use cricket... and I need the PA1-to-PE3 build and the Marshmallow build. If anyone has any links to them that would be awesome! Thanks

You can find the entire PA2 Odin firmware on the Marshmallow update thread. I posted files for pa2-ph2 here: (I downloaded these after I took the ph2 OTA, so I cannot test these. USE at your own risk)

So I can just use Odin to flash this to my phone without anything else? When I updated to the PA1 I did it over my phone itself and the file was called oc(something)-to-PA1. I'm just asking cause I would rather not kill my phone haha

Find Device has been destroyed

Hello. I uninstalled with adb the find my device application. However Im getting an error message every now and then saying * Find Device has been destroyed * Can I somehow remove this message? Or restore Find Device without root? Im running global stable miui10.
Thanks a lot.

Try to reinstall the exact same firmware zip that you have perhaps? I don't see why it wouldn't work. It should flash the ststem app back on to the device.
Side question, did you remove it because the notification got annoying? This only happens if you tried to enable Find My Device but the text message wasn't received because it is coming from a country that you are not in, thus is not permitted unless you have at least international texts on your carrier's plan. For example, I own a Mi 8, live in the USA, my carrier plan does NOT have international texts, so the text to active it will not be received. It does claim that it is active, but all this does is give me the annoying nag notification saying that the sim is not activated, etc. To turn it off, you simply go to Settings > Mi Account > Mi Cloud and on the uppermost left side you see Find My Device and turn it off.

AFAIK, you need to reset your phone to revoke the app uninstallation from adb.
When u remove "Find device" apk thought XiaomiADBFastbootTools (Debloater function)...
that msg will happen again again again....
I'm agree that re-install (factory wipe reset) system.

Lol no. There is a simple command:
adb shell cmd package install-existing "package-name"
No need to reset your phone

I tried this and it said "/system/bin/sh: cmd: not found" help me please
Solution: Tested on Mi 10 Pro MIUI 12.5.5
This occurred because you (probably) did a pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.xiaomi.finddevice
You can't remove this package at least on the chinese rom. Xi jin pin definitely wants to know where you are.
Note: You can still install Google Find My Device as well.
Steps to resolve:
1. If you don't already have adb.exe, download the latest version for your platform from:
SDK Platform Tools release notes | Android Studio | Android Developers
Android SDK Platform-Tools is a component for the Android SDK.
developer.android.com
2. Open a command prompt in the folder you just extracted platform-tools into
3. run 'adb.exe shell' on the command line (you may need to run as administrator)
4. pm install-existing com.xiaomi.finddevice
You're done. This will resolve the 'finddevice has been destroyed' message on MIUI.
If this fails, you'll need to factory reset / wipe, or download the package. It is not available from the play store. You could try apkmirror.com at your own risk.

Works on Mi10TPro, thanks!
Hi, I see that Find Device is reporting to Alibaba constantly and I´m not so much into surveillance. So when I uninstalled it for user 0, I started getting these messages.
I want to get rid of the messages without reinstalling Find Device and I figure it´s some other process that´s constantly calling Find Device. Any ideas about which process it could be? Or how to figure it out?
