[Q] qpnp-charger-ef8e3800 wakelock - Sprint HTC One (M8)

Anybody know what this wakelock is? It's kept my phone awake for 2 and a half hours today and I haven't been plugged into a charger since I left home at 9am.

Hello guy!
I got this wakelocks on cm13.
1. qpnp... This wakelock went from alone away, by me(or I installed an other rom, i dont know anymore)
Try this steps out:
If you have a custom recovery do this: wipe dalvik & cache (and reflash cos13)
If you have no recovery: try out rebooting
Please say me if you have a custom recovery.
2. That's your screen usage, i have this sh*t too, the screen is the biggest battery eater on android.
Cyanogenmod self got very buggy, many users have trouble with it.

Same issue any solution?

Since 3 days I got this **** again too, i dont know how to fix it. :/
---------- Post added at 09:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:36 PM ----------
I FIXED IT!!!!!!
i am on ressurection remix. My phone: OnePlus One.
I played much with the settings, I am writing now what I did, if you have this wakelock too, try all this stuff out:
- "play" with the app "Google Settings"(on Android Marshmallow you find them afaik in the normal Settings, or it's an own app(on Lolipop afaik), you should find it. For example: deactivate Google Now, much people helped it, deactivate Ok Google and try out other stuff.
> i enabled in the ressurection remix in the SELinux section SeLinux Mode and activated Doze Batterysaver
Now the most important things what I did which killed the wakelock I think:
> On Cyanogenmod (based) ROMs, there is a privacy guard in the settings, open it, click menu and click on advanced, and then play there, show apps which are active or wake up much, deactivate all stuff which got opened very much like "keep active", " location" and more stuff. But be aware, if you deactivate for example "keep active" the app couldnt work good as it worked before. So just do it, if the wakelock is gone try out to active these stuff again
Now the second important thing what I did:
Watch what's active(see your RAM storage), under Android Marshmallow this option is a little bit hidden.
Activate Developer Settings and click on "active services" there you see your RAM storage and whats active at the moment. Watch out which apps are active, deactivate/uninstall them if you think they could be the troublemaker, then watch if it helped. I downloaded some weeks ago some apps which measure your charging power in ma. Apps like "Ampere", " Galaxy Charging" and and and, i think these are the troublemaker, after i did every stuff and played on every settings and uninstalled this charging apps the wakelock is gone. I am 80% sure that this charging measure apps were the troublemaker, because the name of the wakelock is qpnp-charger, and it comes only if you are charging your device, and this measure apps are working only if you are charging your device, because thats the sense of a charging power measure app.
I hope i could help you all guys! Dont hesitate to reply to this thread(don't forget to mark me or quote me so that I can see your post).
And now i am gonna sleeping, 23:26, i am f*cked tomorrow... ._.

I had terrible wakelocks and other stuff on cyanogen os too, this rom just sux, just get a custom rom or oxygen os bro, that's better, if you are gonna a custom rom you should install a good one, I tested all and I can say: Ressurection the best, for me(!), i would go away from cyanogen os, cyanogen/cm self get bader and bader.

Extreme battery drain?? 6.0.1

Has anyone else run into this after 6.0.1 update. It really didn't hit me until last night when I decided to test it. Unplugged my phone at 80% and went to sleep only to wake up to it dropping almost 50%!!!!!....not normal. It looks like something is just not right with everything after the update because after checking everything, nothing seems to fit. And before you say it was my wifi, I just changed that, this happened even if wifi was off. But I can say doze is definitely not working and no app seemed to go "rouge" with wakelocks when trying to check. Going to downgrade back to a previous build of 6.0, but hopefully someone else can chime in. Only found a few articles of people reporting the same thing but no one is actually posting possible solutions, just bashing a legitimate concern. Hopefully I don't run into that here.....

Only out of place thing I see is that your screen was on at some points but the phone wasn't saying it was awake. That leads me to believe there's a kernel wakelock issue because I had the same thing but on 5.1. The issue turned out for me to be a wakelock called bluesleep which is related to bluetooth and it came about from an app called gasbuddy which silently updated to provide support for bluetooth "beacons" at gas stations to give you deals or some crap like that. If you're rooted you can install BetterBatteryStats to test for kernel wakelocks, you can test for bluesleep wakelock by just turning off bluetooth and seeing if the drain/weird screen-on not awake thing happens, and long press power off to start the phone in safe mode to narrow down whether its a system issue or installed app issue and if rooted use an app freezer like Titanium Backup to freeze your installed apps a few at a time to narrow down what app(s) are causing it(so you don't have to uninstall/reinstall trial and error).

Wow thanks for that, I actually use GasBuddy, wish you were here before the factory reset I did, but everything seemed to go back to normal after I did the reset but I wanted to actually try to find out specifics. I haven't rooted just because I use Android pay (I know system less root us out there) but I'll try to keep an eye out for that stuff if it happens again.

Lol, it's all good, but yea, that wasn't the issue, doing now with wifi always on and battery drain is normal and doze is working properly, so probably a bad flash and factory reset fixed it, although I really wish there are ways around that

Unstopabble Battery drain when wifi on. Will Paypal $20 for solution.

I have a S5 plus G901f. I have had the phone for 5 months now, and to cut a lot story short, since it was out of the box brand new on stock everything, going through kitkat, lollipop, marshmellow, all stock updates, and now bunch of custom roms and custom kernels, ALL to try stop this wifi battery drain, NOTHING has made a difference. Nothing has worked.
Whenever WIfi is on, the battery will drain about 1% every few minutes, no matter what. With the Wifi OFF, the battery graph will be a horizontal line and the phone will last over a week.
Does anyone have Any idea how to fix this issue. My S6 S3, etc do not do this. They have perfect standby with wifi on.
If anyone offers a solution that works, I give you my word I will paypal $20 to you. Its easily worth that.
It looks a little something like this. The flat parts are with Wifi OFF.
GSAM battery stats just reports it as Android Kernel, Android reports it at Android OS.
Maybe try checking with wakelock detector free in my case it's better than gsam
Is that a custom rom or stock?
If custom the android system will drain less after a week.
You might try to boot up in safemode and see if the system ui drains battery.
If not you can do a Factory Reset and see if it worked.
Download network connections app and sd maid app from playstore.
Run first network connections, see if you find a app that still there and has network traffic. Unatural if you find an app that sucks much traffic.
Use sd maid and go to app control. There you can see which app is active and turn all third party apps off, also the autostart of the receiver.
After that is it always draining?
Of course you can use the system and app cleaner of sd maid if you like.

Will try all those things, but have gone through with titanium and blasted everything in the past with no change to the problem. As I said it only happens when WIFI is on, if mobile data is on but wifi is off, there is no problem. It sucks but I think its a hardware issue...
Will try all the suggestions.
Just for information, OP. Thanks for offering 20$, but you could try and resolve the issue yourself by installing BetterBatteryStats, and checking out what' exactly in the "android os" is causing the wakelock
Also I'd recommend flashing a completly new system with Odin, in case it's a virus - one of the guys on my job had one (probably still has )
I don't want the money but if you are on marshmallow turn off bluetooth and wifi scanning it should help.
It's not impossible that you could have a hardware defect . I'd try contacting a Samsung service center but it looks like you won't be covered by the warranty since you probably tripped Knox when you installed a custom rom.
If you have flashed 100% stock, and factory reset, flashed custom and factory reset, and back to stock and factory reset, and it is still doing it, it sounds fairly likely it is not a software/firmware issue, but hardware

If you have the HuffPost app, uninstall it for some time, it is my only news app installing itself in autostart/as background service, despite the all offering push notifications, which i have disabled for all these apps. Huffpost can go amok, causing much drain. But with root and Wakelock Detector you may spot your culprit.

You should try this app
http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...ebf-tweaking-battery-saver-optimizer-t3401341
Could be a faulty battery, did you try using a different one?
It's very unlikely that a "faulty" battery would die with the small drain of WiFi and not turn off immediately when the screen turns on.
I regularly go to a place where the wifi signal strength is weak. My battery drains faster, even during the standby, while being there.
Wifi power save mode
1. Go to your phone dialer
2. Dial *#0011#
3. When you see the "ServiceMode" screen, press the left menu button
4. Select "WiFi"
5. See that "Wifi Power Save Mode" - well turn it "on"
6. Exit this menu
Hope it works......if its a harware problem it should work but put down yours wifi performance.
From Ajay have a great day....
Boot your phone into safe mode and see if the problem keeps happening and if not get a zero lemon battery case

The $20 dollars is there because it is such a persistent problem it seems like a miracle if it were to be fixed. Its a problem that I do not know the cause of so Id be laughing if it was fixed for $20.

The only option I see in there is Ping test. No wifi power save mode.
This is not a common bug, at least not with the common G900F. What does the "1" stand for?
It could be a mismatch between rom and baseband/modem. This shouldn't happen on unrooted phones during updates(OTA or Kies).
With TWRP, you should be able to flash the correct modem firmware, if there is said mismatch, otherwise the unbricking procedure with Kies or Odin should help. A total factory reset/unbricking is the ultimate solution anyway. A certain app may also be the culprit, so uninstalling these one by one may provide a solution within a certain time, starting with battery saving apps and the like.
Hardware damage just preventing power save seems unlikely.

Read the thread please. No a total factory reset is not the ultimate solution, its not any kind of solution because the reason I started using custom roms is to try fix the problem with the phone when it was 100% stock. The correct firmware was on the phone when new, and it still did it, and it still has the right sofware now afaik as I'm only installing g901f roms.
G901f is the Galaxy S5 Plus. Its basically like a note 4 inside fitted into the body of an S5
Just so you guys know the above pics of the battery graph show with wifi on, the battery drain, and with wifi off, almost no battery drain and on again.

Funnily enough if I leave the screen on the wifi almost drains no power, and its the drain same as leaving screen off lol.
This is with over 1h of on screen time with wifi on.
Its the same as leaving the phone on standby with wifi on lol. Wifi stops being crazy and normal drain occurs.
Thats why Im saying its worth $20 for a fix. Because its BS. I think the only fix is in the form on a kernel where someone understands what the problem is.

Galaxy S5 Android™ version 6.0.1, Marshmallow feature discussion, plus and minus

I do not see any thread discussing features on GS5 marshmallow updates, so I am starting one.
Good Stuff
-- Wifi calling. When enabled, always tries to use wifi to call. Not sure how it works if wifi signal is fading. Does it revert to cell signal in real time?
Unlike T-mobile, airplane mode needs to be off to use wifi calling.
Not So Good Stuff
-- Less control in power saving mode. No more individual tweak for CPU power and display (gray scale). Only choices are power saving mode
and ultra power saving mode. Does it mean MM is more power efficient so we do not need those extra modes anymore?
Stock automatic brightness sucks in Marshmallow
Automatic brightness sucks now in Marshmallow. It is changed from static automatic from range bound. This is a Marshmallow change from Google. It suppose to work like this: you set a brightness point, and Android use ambient light sensor to adjust around the brightness point you set. I have a Nexus 5 phone and it works flawlessly.
With GS5, it never works right. This is always too dark in low light environment or too bright otherwise. Most of the time moving slider does not change anything when auto brightness is checked. Even if it responds once a while. Turning off the screen and on would reset it.
I did some research and downloaded Velis. It works surprisingly well. Will see if it drains battery.
I'm seeing huge improvements in battery life. I usually leave my phone in power saving mode on a desk during working hours and when I was in Lollipop, by the time I got out of work my battery would be at 42%. Today, my battery was at 91% after a 9 hour day. So far it's been on battery for almost 16 hours and is currently at 71%.
I will wait a few days and see if it settles down. My past experience is that the battery life gets worst after a fresh update for a few days and then goes back to normal.
I am missing the mobile hot spot though, it came in handy.

I just got the notification on my stock g900a a couple hours ago, and was looking for info on the update but have not found much yet, could you please clarify: does the update totally remove any option to use mobile hotspot? Just disable it, etc.?
I use this feature often while away from home and secure WiFi is not available for homework and other tasks where a keyboard is essential or a mobile device is not supported. I am hoping that there is some chance that the update just breaks it or something and the loss may not be permanent before I look in to blocking the update. I don't like 5.1.1, but loss of mobile hotspot would be a deal breaker; it was a major consideration into my initial choice to purchase.
Mobile hotspot works fine for me. Is it because it's unlocked and on another carrier? But that of course also means no wifi calling for me.
Automatic brightness control sucks. I get weird flickering instead of dimming when the screen starts to time out. Turn off auto brightness and it's fine. PG3 had the same problem for me.
I'm a big fan now of the update for the default Samsung Music Player (couldn't get it w/o MM)
You can't turn off the charger flap warning or disable the max volume warning...but you can at least disable the charger sound now.
Battery life is good...and I dare say (on both the official and unofficial official builds) consistent.
Wifi hotspot and tethering works for me.
Call quality is good. Call quality is REALLY nice when the other caller has a VOLTE capable phone.
In low signal areas...haven't had an issue with dropped calls or using mobile data.
Here are my thoughts.
1. I am getting some lag in the device. seems it does not hibernate apps well or just doesnt manage memory well. maybe I was just too used to a rooted device with greenify. I have tried greenify with no root but it just isnt the same. Pisses me of sometimes cause It gets REALLY laggy.
2. I cannot get mobile hot spot to work on ATT. It is supposedly enabled on my line (company device on company plan PER our ATT rep). but I get the attached error when I try it.
3. SMS fail to go through alot when on a Microcell. this issue stated with MM un-official and now Official.
4. I did get the battey cover and charge cover killed by using a debloater app. I just put phone in developer mode and enabled USB debug. then fired up this windows app and plugged computer in. it reads the apps and let me disable all the bloat crapola and the popupuiReceiver_m.apk app. Debloater by gatesJunior. Simple and easy to use.

5. Battery Life has been pretty decent once it settled in. I did just get new batteries though.
6. I do second the audio qualty. I have noticed that some people are MUCH louder and easier to understand. Especially on my Wife's new S7Active.
Good stuff:
Better hearing quality in calls
New icons
Being able to hide system notifications in the lock screen (such as airplane mode or power saving)
Bad stuff:
I'm probably nitpicking but when you turn power saving mode on it turns the notification trail from transparent to this opaque gray, which I know it's in order to save battery but it looks bad.

Also now the power saving notification is huge
Also when you turn off the device and turn it on again or restart you can't unlock with fingerprints the first time with a messasge saying: ''Unable to use fingerprints after restarting device. Enter password.'' I know it's a MM security policy but it's annoying
There is a choice to whether turn off all background data in power saving mode. If you did not turn on that one, you will get a much smaller notification msg. Mine only says "Device performance limited".
Yes, the gray notification bar for power saving mode is ugly. :cyclops:
What brand are the batteries that you got? and where did you purchase them from?

AH...thanks for the popupuiReceiver_m.apk reference. PackageDisablerPro will disable that as well. No more volume/charger flap popups!
EDIT: popupuiReceiver_m.apk does not govern the volume warning for me...my bad.

My phone was originally from AT&T and I moved to Cricket. When I was in Lollipop my phone was rooted and I flashed the Wifi_Hotspot update to enable it. Now I can't use it. I get the same error as pickupman66 at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68464559&postcount=7
Battery life is not better. its either at par with lolipop or worse. If you think you are getting better battery life.. that is just a placebo effect. i.e. this is new stuff so must be because of it I am getting better battery. It could simply be 10 other things.
Overall zero value. not sure why I needed to update.
I read somewhere that MM doze mode would turn off a lot of services to save battery if the phone is stationary for a while. This could be the reason this guy sees a huge battery life improvement. He did state that he left the phone on the table.
I like it.
I am always a fan of updating, except when it cost money. My battery life actually improved. It came from 1/2 of a day to 3/4 to 3/4 of a day to whole day. I like the new icon pack. Still had a lot of bloat ware. My speed improved. Yes I like it. Sad thing is. It came out after 7.0 came out .
Check out this verbiage from greenify. The white list goes to apps that are not optimized.

I highly recommend using Package Disabler Pro v6.3b47. You can get it from Mobilism Market if you search for it. There are a lot of similar named apps but don't work nearly as well. Make sure you get v6.3b47.
Also, I just started experiencing the screen flickering issue on MM PG3. Eventually screen wouldn't even turn on. After a few days, I noticed it only happened at night and in the morning, not as bad during the day. I Googled the issue and basically, yes it is an auto-brightness issue and also related to the AMOLED screens the S5 has. This article, as well as others, give great detail and information as to why it happens and what is going on as well as practical solutions. You may have to scroll down a bit to get the best info. https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/272594/Flickering+screen+on+low+back+light

Fwiw, none of the solutions for screen flickering worked for me EXCEPT: simply turning up the brightness on my phone. I had it set around 30% with auto brightness off. At that level, screen was always flickered when dimming, and when turning back on. But simply sliding the brightness up to about 60% solved the issue. Kind of annoying, because I like to have the brightness down to extend the battery life a bit. But whatever.
That is very interesting. If I recall correctly I purchased my S5 soon after it was released. I have not had any screen flickering at all.

It is great cause it have a lot of options and in one you can select that AOD only turns on when a new notification comes
For now it didnt consume too much battery i would say that even none
But what i ask for help is if anyone could check the privacy of this and if we can debate which one is the best for this
Thanks in advance to all,
pd. sony fan here, but this phone is a beast :good:

If you want to be sure this app doesn't send your data to an external server, you can install NetGuard No-root firewall and block this app.

I have an A40 coming and I think this is the only gripe I have with it compared to my old phone (well, maybe lack of ROMs too). Are you sure it doesn't affect battery? Have you actually checked battery drain over hours to prove it?
Maybe I will check it for us when mine arrives.

4PDA have AOD working too using Samsung's own apps.
Edit: Installed an app called Notify Buddy which does the job well, no battery issues overnight. Two gripes:
1. Screen blink for a millisecond as it wakes and then displays a black screen with LED in corner.
2. Since screen is now technically on, fingerprint doesn't wake the phone as you would expect from a lock screen.
Official Samsung One UI AOD on Samsung Galaxy A40
Hello,
is there a way to get the official Samsung One UI AOD on the Samsung Galaxy A40 with or without root access? I'm just wondering because I already had AOD on some other Samsung devices which had Android 8.0 Oreo.
thanks
How it works after some times?
If let always on (like the native one) use a lot of battery?
If used not like an aod but only for notification "led" have it less consume? The blink continues until you read the notification or always for a limited time?

The problem isn't the android version, it's a senseless choice of Samsung.
Maybe some of good lock apps can add it you should try always on display and edge light

No, I haven't tried that. I don't use Google Play (I refuse to have a Google account on my phone) but if it is in apkpure I will try it.
I still have the Notify Buddy installed. By default it notifies for 30 minutes but this is adjustable. The screen blink is only annoying when I am asleep, so I think I will try to get a scheduler to turn the whole app off at night and back on in the morning. I've gotten used to the screen actually being "on" when it looks off, but I would prefer if Notify Buddy could access the fingerprint sensor and open the screen from it.

well it is quite a lot , the phone is not goin into deep sleep along as the led is active , for an example if you get a notification for 30 mins it wont enter deep sleep if you get more the phone will keep staying awake , its litteraly like you have your phone awake displaying a black image
Yeah, this is what I said. When notifying of something the screen is on, so you cannot "unlock" it as it is already unlocked. Therefore you need to swipe up and press home, not use the fingerprint.
Change clock format
hi, is it possible to change the clock to 24h format?

Also, double tap to wake still works?

from my understanding our device is lacking a small physical storage chip witch should be a part a of the display called display memory. so as long as the display is on displaying anything the cpu wont go to deep sleep
im assuming that cause aod wont allow deep sleep even in gsi roms so that must be it
Can someone make always on display working on galaxy a40
Please someone make original always on display working on a40

Question Bluetooth Battery Drain

Hey guys. Since the April update I've noticed I'm getting a fair bit of Bluetooth Battery drain on my Ultra. Only thing I have connected all the time is my Huawei GT2 Pro watch, but this has always been the case and never had the issue.

Never used to see any Bluetooth use here really. Have rebooted both devices but seems to be getting worse.
Any ideas ?

Do a Google search if you don't know how for that make/model.
Network reset is generally found in setting under connectivity at least on Samsung's.

I don't think Karma Firewall's logging feature works in Android 10 or 11.
That would allow you to see what is accessing the internet and how often. Might give you a clue to what app is responsible.
It may be an app connected with the watch that's gone wild. Google Play Services is a known troublemaker and battery hog.
Man it's somehow getting worse ...
Why is app usage so high?
It's not broke down by app. Wonderful.
More Android 10/11 security?
Try disabling Google Play Services... just a hunch.
If that doesn't work...
Go to Developer options>running processes/cache processes after a reboot and see if you can spot it.

That is a mess. Ditch the trash social apps especially FB and insta****. Health is doing what? Is DeX just hanging out too?
All that message stuff?
G Board?
Which of these has bluetooth permissions?
Time to take out the trash... if you can bare to part with it. It all adds up.
The Adroid system looks high too.
Disable all power management after you take out the trash. Power management can cause erratic behavior and battery drain.
This what my 10+ battery profile looks like. I was using bt for a couple hours but it's bare bones.
The bells and whistles are power sucking and annoying.

Have you tried turning off nearby device scanning (under connections) and Bluetooth scanning (under improve accuracy in location)?
Also are you able to see if anything is draining your watch faster than it was before?

That should be ok then.
Google apks are notorious troublemakers though. Even Gmail I keep on a short leash.
Maybe the data in Health got corrupted, try clearing data or reloading it.
Don't forget all the Google apps and their many dependencies. One might be polling constantly and going unanswered*.
Tracking something like that down on a unrooted Android 10 or 11 platform is a bloody nightmare.

You can disable GplayS in settings to see what happens. Mine is disabled right now.
You can also download Karma Firewall then firewall block GplayS, Google backup Transport and Android Services if those latter two aren't used by you. See if this helps.
