GALAXY S4 ACTIVE ROOT DISCUSSION THREAD
Hello,
In this thread we can discuss about root methods.
I contacted @rebel1699 that made the root on the AT&T S4 i337 if we can have the same thing.
He still didn't answer, When he will answer I will update.
We can also port a rooted ROM from theres by porting and modding mod keyguard.apk, android.policy.jar, framework2.jar, services.jar and secsettings.apk. Thanks for the information
@Arsaw that with E-Team ported Note 3 4.4.2 rom for the Note 2.
That's it till now.
HUGE Update: @Sunderwear Has gained root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51995443
Happy Rooting!
-TransformixS4
Subbing this thread for future updates. If anyone needs or wants any info from a device, my ATT S4A is running ML2 - Rooted, and my brother's is Stock running 4.4.2. So if we need any info from either device I can get whatever files a dev may need to help figure out rooting procedure.
If someone could point me to the full odin tar firmware, I can see what we can do. Be aware, I was able to do this on the i337 because Samsung neglected to blacklist the 4.3 kernel from being flashed, thereby allowing us to downgrade from 4.4.2 to a 4.3 system ( all but bootloader). If that is also the case here, it should be doable, providing we have a full odin 4.4.2 tar.

It looks like the thread got deleted. I'm guessing somebody forced him to delete it, meaning it was something important. The people who were working on the bootloader got the files already, so we'll see what happens.

I bought it new from shop, ripped the packaging myself and it says "[email protected] #2".
I even updated it myself from KIES to KKA.
You can root it accordingly the threads in development section.

This has got me totally demented. I need sky go to keep up with the footie when I'm away from home. I dunno what detection routines sky go uses but it sucks lol.
I've tried unrooting various ROMs using supersu to no avail.
So now I've installed multirom and slimkat 4.4, tried titanium complained about no root. Tried a few other apps with the same result, excellent.
Tried sky go, as usual it teases me, everything is looking good then the dreaded message "sky go is not supported on rooted android device"
So how the f**k can sky go detect it but nothing else can

Sorry for the double post. Tapatalk :-\
the only way to get it working is to have it completely stock, any kernel/rom thats not stock will cause the error so if you have the superuser app its still rooted

I suspect they're doing something crazy like checksumming the system partition. That would explain also why even minor OS updates render it unusable for weeks (4.4 support? Dream on..), and it only works on a limited subset of phones.
I reckon it's possible to make one that works on most stuff but any attempt at decompiling/recompiling the APK breaks it as it also internally checks itself to make sure it's not been modified, and I haven't dug far enough to remove that check.

Wondered the same, but looking at the tabbed settings page in the screenshots, I think he is right with 4.2.2
Plus he is involved with MIUI which is still 4.2.2 also.
It says 4.2 all over the thread

Flashes and boots just fine. Problem is all the setup pages are in Chinese. And you have to enter tour phone number to receive an activation code...which you never receive.
I couldn't get it past the setup so I can't report on functionality.
OP, if I'm doing something wrong please let me know as I'd love to test this to help you with future releases.

Ok so when on 4.4.2 Kitkat I place my phone on the wireless charging pad and it plays a song that can not be stopped and is just looped. Anyone know of a solution? Wireless charging is an essential feature for me and its annoying to not have it work. Thanks.

May I ask what rom you're running, MLG or NC2? I have heard of this issue on the MLG KitKat leak. Not sue if it got sorted out with the NC2 official release. I was hoping it did as I just ordered the Samsung wireless charging s-view case and charging pad. I believe the work-around on MLG was to turn the sound all the way down while charging (Not much of a work-around) or if rooted, delete the ogg sound file. I would have to scour the MLG leak thread to be sure of these.

You are running the MLG leak. You will have to restore back to official MJ5 then upgrade to official NC2. There are threads in the general section. You might want to check the "Fix for KitKat update failing without rooting" thread.
