[Q] VS980 status bar date and time - Verizon LG G2

Is there any way to disable this? I keep double tapping my status bar to turn off my screen and it opens up my date and time every time. This is the date and time on the left side of my status bar when I pulldown.
This is new with kitkat, I never had this date and time before the OTA today.

Why are you pulling it down before the double tap? Tap on the bar when the curtain is closed to turn the screen off.

It doesn't matter if I pull down or not that was simply to illustrate where it is on the screen. It happens if I double tap anywhere on the left side of the screen; which is the side I usually do.
Kitkat changed the way my status bar pulldown works as well; it's all ugly now. Any fixes besides flashing another rom?

Not sure what to tell you. Mine looks and functions exactly like it did on 4.2

Double tap faster... just thoroughly tested this. If done slow, depending on side, it can pull settings or time. If done fast, turns off. It has to be tapped pretty slow to pull up menus...

Browser Status bar.

On the browser I noticed the status bar (with the time, signal, battery) hides its self. Id like it to display all the time. Is there a way to do this?
Thanks.

Agreed, I hate not being able to see the time or an incoming text...
i couldnt find how to turn it on all the time either, but my work around is to just push menu and then it will show the status bar for you see it and pull it down.
This annoyed me to the point that I sought out a possible fix. Sad that it doesn't even appear to be a configurable option.

CM7 Status Bar Force Close

The past few days I've been getting a "Status Bar" force close which means the notifications bar completely disappears, including the main Android buttons in Tablet Tweaks.
Going into the settings and toggling top status bar or bottom status bar doesn't bring it back, nor does going into Manage Applications and clicking Force Stop on the status bar.
Has anyone run into this issue and been able to fix it without rebooting?
Haven't had the issue in a while (knock on wood), but it always recovered pretty quick (a few seconds later). Have you tried disabling "disable fullscreen"? That seems to have helped out. I found toggling all the buttons in the Tablet Tweaks area fixed a lot of things...
I had the same issue yesterday. After playing with WIFI setting several times, the status bar suddenly force closed and was not able to recover. I had to reboot the Nook.
Same issue here. My status bar will occasionally force close when playing around with one specific widget (Pure Messenger). Sometimes it will come right back and sometimes it doesn't and nothing outside of rebooting will fix the problem.
Has anyone come up with a solution that doesn't require a reboot?
Same, restarts sometimes, other tines it doesn't come back. You could use Hot Restart rather than reboot but otherwise...

App in the market, it's a widget that you tap and it'll offer to "hot restart", ie: Restart Android. It's a little faster than a full reboot.
You could try adding the open/close status bar shortcut to your homescreen. Long press on home screen->launcher actions->open /close status bar.
I've started using Taker on my NC and I've found every time I open it, Status Bar crashes, and about half the time doesn't come back... Meh.

Thanks. Which launcher? I had one fc lastnight, but fixed right away by rotating to landscape.

Doubt that.. It fixes itself sometimes after a few seconds. Other times a reboot is required.

The default ADWLauncher has it, although it interacts very strangely with the double-chevron "allow fullscreen" soft-button control (diddles the same API, perhaps?). Just added it, so I haven't had time for a status bar crash since.
Rotating never worked for me, but the "Notification Restart" app worked maybe a couple of times, but hasn't the last few instances.

Unfortunately the status bar show/hide shortcut trick doesn't work if the status bar itself is well and truly gone. So far only a reboot has brought it back reliably.
In other news though, I've recently removed the Elixir widget from my home screen and gone to manually turning on/off the WiFi and that seems to have improved things for me. YMMV

I just upgraded to n102, no OC, and almost immediately got three instances of the status bar turning invisible, but still working (the screen space is still reserved but blank, the buttons work, you just can't see them), and rotating the screen fixes that problem. Smells like a missed repaint of some kind.
No complete crashes yet.

Cool little tip/trick

Don't think this has been mentioned before but I discovered another way to access the quick settings screen on the Nexus 4.
When you pull down the notification drawer, swipe the bottom lip of the pull down window right below the carrier's name to the left or right and it'll take you to the quick settings menu.
I think this is a better and faster way to access it intead of hitting the upper tab. It feels more natural to swipe the lower portion of the screen since your finger is already dragging down the screen
Thanks. But I'm unable to do the same. Please post a screenshot/video if possible.
OR, you can just swipe your notifications window down with two fingers, and not have to hit anything at all.
Doesn't seem to work for me on PA. Swiping with two fingers is much faster, but in PA there's also a setting to allow you to swipe down from the right side (where all of the signal and battery icons are) to access settings and anywhere else on the status bar to get to notifications.
That's on cyanogenmod and any other ROM that uses cyanogen mods source...

PA doesn't use cm source anymore. Its built from aosp

It's hard to do that with just one hand though
Just tried it and it works.. Im on Xylon
You have to open the notification bar all the way to the bottom and then swipe.. Doesnt work half way down the screen
Don't work on stock
Btw i found that long pressing on power off will allow you to reboot on safe mod

Yes but PA uses some of CM mods

OR
get Power Toggles
Does work but pretty much useless. I just have mine configured to swipe left or right corner with one finger
That's actually pretty cool.. I like it! Thanks op. I'm on rasbeanjelly BTW..

I have PA and I could not replicate.
However, if you just tap the blue bar below the carrier name with another finger it will switch to the quick settings.
Yes the only trick i know is swipe from status bar with two fingers and it will go to quick setting.

Lock icon in Status bar?

Used to have a little lock button in the corner of the status bar back when I had my S3. Miss that with the X. I've looked around and can't find a mod, does anyone know of an xposed module or anything that maybe I'm overlooking? I know GravityBox has a quicksettings lock tile, but I really liked the button right there.
I thought GB had a double tap status bar off setting. I also used hold home button to turn off via GB.

Hey thanks for the long-press tip. Didnt' realize that was an option. Thanks.

Any way to show date on the top bar on the left side (new second screen)?

Just got the v40. I thought the top bar on the left showed the date and time but its only showing the time. Is there any setting that will also show the date? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Don't know of any solution to put the date there. Although, if you drag open the notification panel, the date is at the top. Likely once rooted, you can do it in a custom ROM.

Thanks for the info. I saw that too, by dragging open the notification panel date and time shows. Thats what i must have seen. I though i accidentally changed a setting. Bummer you can’t customize that top bar they call the new second screen.
