[Q] All audio lost 1 day after flashing CM11 Installer version - Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Q&A, Help &

I recently installed Clockwork recovery and manually rooted my galaxy s3 (ATT) before flashing cyanogenmod 11 via the cyanogenmod installer application. Everything on the phone worked flawlessly for about 24hrs, then I noticed an issue with the audio while using the ATT visual voicemail app. The audio playback would not work on a voicemail I received. All audio playback had been working fine up until this point. Then a loud static sound came from my speaker and afterwords, all audio playback (music/headphones/alarms/ringtones/lock sound) stopped working. I have since tried a factory reset, but there is still no audio. Anyone know what could be the issue?
I don't think its a hardware issue because I tried flashing an older version of CM 10 a while back and instead of the audio working fine for a while, it didn't work at all, but once I flashed the stock ROM back on it, the audio issue was resolved. I really dont want to go back to stock ROM so any ideas would be appreciated.

Reverted to Stock JB ROM - FIXED
reverted to stock JB and the audio issue is fixed. This is clearly a software issue with CM on the s3, or at least on my particular s3. So disappointing. Stock JB is so clunky.

Bluetooth problem with Cyanogenmod 10.1

I was just wondering if anyone else was having problems with a bluetooth headset using Cyanogenmod 10.1? The call quality while using the handset is great, but when I use my bluetooth (Jawbone Era, Motorola Sliver Elite) the call quality is absolutely terrible, the person can't even hear what I'm saying.
I say Cyanogenmod because that's my favorite rom, but it also happens on AOKP, PAC, ParanoidAndroid, and pretty much every other Vanilla type Rom.
Any help or suggestions?
The same problem with Jawbone Era. All works fine in Samsung stock 4.1.2 ROM.
Yep. I have this problem, too.
Bummer, as I'm writing a Bluetooth headphone round-up for a magazine this month, and I can't review call quality without borrowing a friend's phone.
Known Issue
Hey guys the bluetooth isssue your speaking of is a VERY well known issue in CM its one of the few bugs that is still being ironed out. Its also present in basically every other aosp type rom because they are all based on CM. The awesome cyanogen devs are working on it constantly and im sure they will get it figured out :good:
So if you here any reference of an "upstream" issue in a ROM thread its most likely referring to it being an issue in CM and therefore the ROM in question. :good:
Bluetooth car connections drops and really bad audio quality when on call.

Hi everyone, I have used PARANOIDANDROID in the past for Samsung Note and had a great experience using it. Just installed the PARANOIDANDROID on my new HTC one.
I am having two issues that are forcing me to go back to a stock rom,.
1st) Bluetooth connection with car, when calling the audio quality is really bad. The person on the other end cannot understand what I am saying.
2nd) when on a call with a headphone /w mic and connected to my Mac, the mass storage keeps going on and off. This affects the audio quality of the phone call.
All other issues that have been reported here I am OK to way for, but the BlueTooth issue forced me to look for a stock ROM for now.
I hope the great the people working on these Rom ( Paranoidandroid and Cyanogenmod ) can fix these issues quickly.
no bluetooth for voip apps
I've tested CM on note I and II, the same issue shows up, I cannot use bluetooth with voip apps. Same goes for 10.2. Too bad

Bluetooth issues on CM based roms, but not stocked based. (VS980)

Hi everyone, thanks for taking the time to look at this.
I'm having an issue where if I run any CM based rom I get "com.bluetooth.android has stopped responding" when connecting to my Mazda car stereo or my jawbone speakers. I've had this issue on every version of CM that has been out since November. If I use a stock based rom, everything works fine and I don't have any issues. It doesn't matter if I'm using 4.4.2 or 4.4.4, the previous scenario still holds true.
Any ideas what I can try in order to solve the issue or at least narrow it down further?
I really like flashing different roms and checking out the awesome features everyone has added, but I unfortunately need my bluetooth to work properly.
Thanks in advance for all the help!

Ha. I have the exact opposite problem. I have a 2013 Subaru Outback and every AOSP rom works perfectly and any stock rom has issues. Calls work fine on both stock and AOSP based roms, but media playback has always presented a problem for me on stock roms. On AOSP roms I can play Netflix, Youtube, music, etc through my car speakers but I can only get Play Music to work on stock roms. Sometimes on a stock rom, Youtube will play for 2 seconds but then cutoff the audio. The video will continue to play, but the audio is lost. Very strange.
I've searched around a bunch, and it looks like i's not an uncommon issue, but it doesn't look like there's a systematic solution. I assume there are too many variables (car makes, models, years, stereo upgrades, Nav options, etc) to be able to isolate an issue. You just have to keep trying different iterations.
Keep me posted if you find a solution.

[SOLVED] [Q] Lollipop call audio issues (+ is safestrap compatible with LP?)

Had this issue on all Lollipop ROMs I've tried. My earpiece (+headphone jack) is faulty, so I set all my calls to the loudspeaker. Worked fine on KK and on my first days of Lollipop, but then even speaker stopped working. Being unable to make calls, reverted back to KK, working fine (considering I have de earpiece HW issue). Now switched back to Lollipop and it happened again. Tried routing all audio to speaker with SoundAbout, no results except for the first time after installing the app. Speaker works great for everything else, so I'm suspecting of something about how LP routes HW-related audio (calls coming from the network and, I think, FM radio - never used it in my phones, so I have no clue) and SW-related audio (everything else, which comes from file reading, handled by apps, like music, whatsapp audio and notifications) or some issue with the apps and libs (and whatever else) related to calls.
So I'd like help in the following points:
1. Is it possible to revert everything system-wise related to calls to their KK counterparts? Is there a good reason for it not to work well, theoretically, so I shouldn't even bother trying?
2. In case 1 isn't possible, is there a way for me to check everything that should be working about call audio, see what outputs and stuff like that I was supposed to get, and compare these to the ones I get, on testing? I can provide logcat with SoundAbout on and off, if needed;
3. Since it's only happening in LP, should I suppose that this is something related to the earpiece+P2 jack issue that KK ignored, but LP isn't dealing well with? I'm going for a new jack (I think the earpiece issue is caused by it, because it stopped working about the same time my jack was broken beyond repair) in a couple of weeks and this might be solved, but this issue is driving me crazy already. I could live without the earpiece. I could even live without being able to listen to music on my way to work. But it's really sad to need to revert to KK in order to be able to make calls, with the amazing work devs are doing on LP (tried 3 LP ROMs and fell in love with all of them, visual, speed, functionality and stability-wise).
In case nothing works, I considered multi-boot with safestrap, my current LP as "stock" (I don't know if there is a limitation to actual stock FWs in the stock slot at safestrap, could somebody point me this?) and a KK FW (stock or custom, really don't care in this case) for calling. I make few calls a day, but those are very important, so I could spend some time in KK to make calls if I could reboot to LP and enjoy the best of it. Is it possible?
Thanks in advance for any input. Sorry for the long post (I like to give al the details I can and explain my resolution tries and thoughs on the OP to prevent the need to comment a hundred times) and for the awful english.
If your earpiece and 3.5 mm jack are damaged why don't repair your phone?
Safestrap hasn't been compatible since Android 4.4.
And unfortunately you can't downgrade either, not without likely bricking.
But if you're flashing roms, you must have an unlocked bootloader, so why would you need safestrap?
Oh, There's no way to "multi boot" on the moto X.
CM12 call audio updates seem to fix the issue. Will report back after I get my earpiece replaced.
Sent from my ghost using XDA Free mobile app
Update: the issue seems to happen if one has a damaged earpiece and installs the whatsapp mic fix. So if anyone out there has this issue, you have to choose: call audio on speakers or recording audio on whatsapp. Will report back, but I have been running for a couple days without issues.

[Q] HTC One M7 no sound

I have an HTC one m7 sprint which i had running on a sense based rom for about a year. A couple of weeks ago I flashed Cyanogenmod 12 (not sense based) rom and everything worked fine.
The other day i was listeneing to music when the eveything just went quite!
At first i thought that the speaker was blown, but then I plugged in my earphones and there is still no sound coming out from them. My earphones work perfectly fine in other devices.
I can get a very faint sound coming through the earphones when playing videos using MX Player with S/W Audio decoding.
So this then lead me to think that there must be a hardwar audio decoder which has packed a sad?
But then when using voice calls i can hear through the speaker and the microphone works fine.
I have tried flashing back to my previous rom and even the stock rom but still no luck.
Has anyone experienced this before? Does anyone have a posible solution?
I am no expert but...
I had problems with call sounds only.
Deleted the Google play services data and got it working.
Google play services update caused it.
Switched to lollipop ...newest 7.15 firmware.
Now okay.

Phone headset and mic not working during calls

So I recently installed the google play edition ROM (5.0.1). My issue is I cant send nor receive sounds during a call. If I use a external headset, all is well and I can talk/listen over the external headset (be it Bluetooth or wired), or I can swap the over to the phone speaker and it works. However if I place a call without a external headset connected, the phone earpiece, nor the speaker work. I've looked into the no sound issue, but it seems that's been since taken care of. I've tried other ROMs, (bare-bones kit-kat, and CM 12 nightly) and still no sound. Any ideas?
For reference I'm running Verizon HTC M7. Lollipop 5.0.1 Google Plus Edition v2.06, installed with CWM.
Calls work when I flashed CM 10.2 and 12. but not for other ROMs. So its not a hardware issue. I really like the GPE 5.0.2 ROM by santod040 , but there is no sound when calling, ever, not even in the first few minutes after boot. How can I fix this. I'd be happy to provide any debug info as needed
