Sim Unlock HTC one on KITKAT[SPTINT] - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Hi,
I always make a point of creating a new thread for issues that have plagued me
Anyway, this is the method I used to unlock my HTC One on kitkat
Preparation:
1. Make sure that you are on the latest version of kitkatkat, build number 4.06.651.9 If you are not, download the update or the RUU
2. Make sure your computer is set up for adb. If you are new here, this is the best way to have adb.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
3. Set aside atleast 30minutes aside
The process:
1. HTC dev unlock. Follow this guide to unlock your bootloader, flash custom recovery and root
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2698394
2. S-Off. The only method that works on hboot 1.55 and above is firewater, and from my experience, it will only work on the 4.06.651.9 biuld for kitkat. Follow instructions here:
http://firewater-soff.com/instructions/
3. Relock your bootloader and follow this guide to downgrade to 4.3
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2634256
4. Unlock your bootloader once again (yeah, I know) and download the 4.1.2 ruu here:
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=22979706399752930
5. Now you can use this guide to unlock your HTC one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2586704
Took me the better part of a day to figure it out. Good luck

As far as i know sim unlock carries through all software updates, it would be a hassle for everyone that sim unlocked through sprint after every update sprint put out. i sim unlocked with the app along time ago but never tested it and ive sent my phone to htc for repairs but i dont have a spare sim to test.

There is a simpler way
First do step 1 above
Next FLASH the "deodex" ROM here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2766604
Next FLASH this .zip (it will give you errors, just ignore them):http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2534208
Next BOOT and DOWNLOAD SIM Unlock Helper, COMPLETE its steps!
NEXT do a complete WIPE SYSTEM, DATA, CASHE.
Next RE-FLASH what ever ROM you want, and FLASH this radio
Although NOT needed for everyone:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2647305

[Q] HTC One debranding

Hi all, just wondering if someone with some knowledge can help assist me debranding my HTC One. I came from Samsung devices, and knew the ins and outs of rooting, flashing roms etc, but HTC devices seems so over complicated after reading through various forums.
All I want to do is debrand my Vodafone HTC One, and install the international uk firmware, and be able to receive ota updates in future.
I have been reading about changing Ruu, changing CID, and im just baffled by everything, although slowly starting to gain some knowledge.
Please I would appreciate if someone could give me the correct procedure to do this, do I need to unlock the bootloader before doing it? Already registered on HTCDEV website, just havnt unlocked bootloader yet.
I have spent hours reading info, and my head is practically going round in circles lol.
What do you mean by debranding? Do you mean putting a custom Rom on it?
Edit: I missed a section of what you said. I believe you have to unlock the bootloader, turn security off, and get Super CID.
Sent from my HTCONE using xda premium
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
Thank you, So I need to unlock bootloader, get s-off, then install supercid. Then all I do is install the international stock rom? and I will receive ota updates?
I believe so, but you must have the international stock recovery on too for the OTA updates to work.

All the following is dependant on having an hboot of less than 1.54. If you are already on hboot 1.54, you will not yet be able to s-off and follow this process until an exploit is found for the 1.54 hboot. To check this, turn off your device and restart it whilst holding the volume down button. The information will be displayed.
1 Get S-Off http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2314582
2 Install super cid : fastboot oem writecid 11111111
3 Run RUU 1.28.401.7 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2207874
4 Change cid to generic : fastboot oem writecid HTC__001

Thanks for that info mate. I just checked and im on hboot 1.54, which means I wont be able to do this at the moment. Was that RUU you state an exe file? I guess I don't have to root or install any custom recovery to do this? First I need to wait on an exploit for sboot 1.54 to get s-off. Also it might be easier for me going down the custom rom route?

Until s-off is achieved for hboot 1.54, your only choice is custom roms. This should be fine as you are already updated to the latest firmware through Vodafone.

Ok, now here goes lol. My understanding so far is that in order to install any stock ruu I must first get s-off. As im running stock Vodafone firmware, the CID must match this firmware. If I get s-off, I will be able to install any CID and stock rom, as long as they match one another. and as im on hboot 1.54 just now, supercid wont work yet, so s-off is a no no at the moment. I can still root and install a custom firmware though.

[Q] How to Debrand HTC One

I have a HTC One on the EE network in the UK and I am still currently on Android 4.3 and Sense 5.5, they haven't bothered to release Android 4.4 yet and I have no hope that they will release Sense 6.
So, I would like to know how to go about changing my EE branded phone into an Unlocked International Version so that I can receive OTA updates direct from HTC.
Current CID: ORANG001
Current Hboot: 1.55
Current Software Number: 3.63.61.1
Radio: 4A.21.3263.04
Locked Bootloader with S-On
I would very much appreciate any help you can give.
Thank-You

first of all you need to unlock your bootloader and s-off your phone, debrand is not possible with s=on
the you would need to change your cid to something like HTC__001 or developer edition cid, one fastboot command required to do this.
and then run the correct RUU for those cid's and your done.
its quite easy to do, the hardest part is getting s-off, however you may be ok on 1.55 hboot, try rumrunner, read the instructions and download the required file here: http://rumrunner.us/

Do I need custom recovery? If so which is best.
And do I need to have a custom ROM installed to gain s-off or can s-off be achieved on my current EE branded ROM?

nope its not required for either, you should be able to s-off on stock rom, if you get an error or for some reason it fails, then you MAY have to flash a custom recovery and custom rom / kernel.
The RUU's will put you back to fully stock anyway in the end.

If the s-off does cause an error or it fails, can this cause my device to get bricked?
And by fully stock do you mean that the RUU turns s-on and locks my boot loader? (just in case I need to send my phone in for repair).
Thanks

no your phone wont brick
and no the ruu wont turn your phone s-on, you will need to lock your bootloader before running the RUU, but that's one simple command too, but only after s-off.
all you need right now is to make sure you have the drivers installed and that your device is detected in windows both when booted into a rom and on the bootloader screen.

not really something they will check to be honest, but if you s-on and you've played about with your phone down the line, like flashed a modified firmware or hboot, you will get an instant brick, if your hboot version is too high you will get the tampered flag back, or if you make a mistake along the way and the fix requires s-off, it will be very difficult to get again.

i'm a total htc noob (came from xperia to htc)

Hi guys! I just got my brand new htc one (m7) with this stock software:
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT-1.55.0000
RADIO-4A.21.3263.04
OpenDSP-v32.120.274.0909
OS-3.63.708.3
eMMC-boot 2048MB

Xperia's are easily rooted, deodexed, unlocked, re-locked, downgraded, etc. and if I want to revert to stock, i'll just flash stock FTF and return to warranty unlike HTC phones there's this hboot, s-off, etc. I read a lot of tutorials, noob guides, etc. but got confused on where to start. I just want root without unlocking bootloader or s-off and revert to stock when needed. Any tips guys? and how do you compare xperia development from htc's. Thanks guys.

you can only get temproot without unlocking the bootloader
the steps for your phone are
unlock bootloader @ htcdev.com
flash custom recovery (TWRP 2.6.3.3 preferred)
Make a Nandroid Backup
Flash SuperSU
reboot and enjoy

Yes,unlocking bootloader is must if you want to get permanent root.Further, if you want to return to complete stock in future, you should think about getting S-Off too.I have had a lot of problem because i can't get S-Off .But you should study before you do anything. Unlocking bootloader will result in loss of data/preload* apps which is a serious problem if you want to get future official OTA updates. If you unlock bootloader,u have to flash data/preload apps again if an official OTA update comes in near future. The most serious part is that the OTA updates check md5 of the apps intalled,so each app of data/preload must have the same md5 as before. But, if you are planning to use custom roms and you don't want official updates, that is not going to be a problem. There are several things that should be carefully studied before you do anything.I can give you a head start on what items to study.
1.check your CID ,mid, firmware version and note it.
2.Search OTA which matches your CID,mid and firmware version, it contains the stock recovery,data/preload apps which you may need in future.
3.Try to learn about S-ON/S-OFF, their uses and implications.
4.Do study about how OTA affects your chances to get S-OFF which you may need in future during serious problems.
5. try to read more and more through the forum, this is must.
Lastly,if you need comprehensive details on unlocking bootloader, flashing recovery, rooting and more, go through the video tutorials by "Sakitech" on youtube.I found them the most useful ones.And. last but not the least, this is all my opinion.Good luck!:good:

he mentions the OTA contains files you may need in the future ... it's of no use to you now your already above that version. When you unlock the bootloader your phone gets wiped and you loose (everything) a folder called data/preload
that's needed later to take a new OTA update. That folder can sometimes be retrieved from an old OTA package.
I know it seems confusing now but it will all be simple once you start doing it.

In my opinion, unlock your bootloader, intall custom recovery, and root. After you do all these steps, your device's bootloader menu will show tampered and unlocked flag. So, if you want to remove those flags in future, you will strictly need S-OFF. So, you could see how important is it to get S-OFF. Getting S-OFF gets harder as the hboot version of your phone increases and hboot version normally increases after official software update. In some cases, you will need to use premium apps like Moonshine to get S-OFF.So i advice you to unlock bootloader, intall custom recovery, root and then get S-OFF. Having all of them gives you entire freedom in modding. But, after having S-OFF, you will also need to be more responsible when you flash things. That's why, i told you to read as much as possible. If you want to do what i told you, follow these steps.
1.unlock bootloader, install custom recovery, and root.Link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJYAS2KN17Y
2.to get S-OFF, try: http://firewater-soff.com/instructions/
3. During the end of second step, if you get "Whelp it sucks,no amount of re-flashing custom roms and kernel will do", you will need moonshine to S-OFF. Since it is a premium app,AFAIK, you will need to pay 25$. But, before you pay, they will make sure whether or not will it work on you device.Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2291087, http://moonshine.io/
4.and to return back to 100% stock in future, this tutorial might help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2358738

To gain permanent root access:
I'm gonna need to unlock bootloader first;
Make a stock nandroid (with stock recovery intact via cmd fastboot boot recovery.img);
Install custom recovery and install SuperSU.zip
To revert to 100% stock:
I'm gonna be needing S-OFF. (i'm on 1.57 so I'm gonna search for it.)
flash my stock nandroid
flash stock recovery (if fastboot boot recovery.img didnt work)
lock recovery
fix tampered/relock flag
done.

yes but downgrade only if needed (like to return to stock) You must have s-off to downgrade and use this RUU. Once downgraded you can take ota to re-update your phone.

one more thing, if i flash the RUU.zip for my version, my current hboot (1.57) will also be downgraded to that version's hboot?
and will it be back to s-on (if i succeeded s-off now) ? thanks

yes hboot will also be downgraded. You will not loose s-off when flashing a ruu. Only turn s-on back if you must send the phone for warranty.

Sprint HTC One S-OFF/sim ulock on HBOOT 1.57 OS 5.03.651.3

Hello everyone,
I was trying diiferent Roms and kernels for many days, but no luck with s-off and sim unlock till today (5 days passed). I hope my gide will help you with your phone as well.
I have Sprint HTC One M7 HBOOT 1.57, OS 5.03.651.3.
1) Unlock bootloader
2) Flash "recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.4.8-m7spr" or "openrecovery-twrp-2.8.0.2-m7wls.img"
3) Install Super user
4) Flash "m7wls_Stock_Rooted_5.03.651.3_DeOdex_Full" Rom using recovery
5) Flash kernel "ElementalX-sprint-m7-13.1"
6) Use "Firewater", instraction 1 worked for me link: http://firewater-soff.com/instructions/. Now you must be S-Off
7) Downgared to Hboot 1.44. This one worked for me "hboot_hexed"
8) Install Sprint_HTC_One_m7wls_1.29.651.10_RUU
9) Flash againe "recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.4.8-m7spr" or "openrecovery-twrp-2.8.0.2-m7wls.img"
10) Install Super user
11) Follow all steps in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2386703 and you are done.
Thank you.
thanks for sharing the steps, i just got s-off tonight on hboot 1.57 by htc dev unlocking, flashinging twrp recovery which installed super su root. Firewater didn't work at that point, so i flashed CM11 nightly and then firewater s-off worked when "opening bottle 1".
I then installed the firewater hboot, but i'm not sure why is there an advantage to downgrading to an older hboot version? is it just so you can potentially install older RUUs?
it's work for me ) ) thanks your solultion ! very good
so now my HTC one camera not work ) maybe because downgare softwave ... everyone help me ! thanks

Hey, do you have a link to the rom you flashed in step 4? I downloaded this but they said you need s-off to make it happen.
UPDATE: Was able to flash the rom via recovery and flash elementX kernel, the same one you mentioned. After getting to the firewater step I get this error after the first chug:
Kernel contains HTC anti-firewater patch!

UPDATE 2: Followed to Step 5, tried firewater and it failed. Tried SIM Unlock and it failed. Replaced HtcOMADM file and tried S-off via firewater and it failed. Tried SIM Unlock and it did everything fine!
Now I just have to find a SIM that works.

[Q] Need help figuring out how to update

I have an ATT M7. I am on T-Mobile. The phone is now unlocked. It is still running Android 4.3.
ATT software update doesn't find any updates - presumably because I need an ATT sim in there.
So how can I upgrade this to 4.4 and later 5.0?
Thanks!

well from there you can either follow clsA link and change to developer edition, which will require changing cid, mid and flash the RUU, dev edition gets the quickest updates, although its very touch and go at the moment as to whether the M7 is going to get anymore updates, or you can do the same with the latest T-mo RUU which is here: http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-t-mobile/news/ that will also require you to change your cid and mid, after doing that follow the manual instructions on the HTC site, download link for the RUU is at the bottom.

Darn it. Read this too late. OK, I changed CID to T-MOB010 and MID to PN0713000.
At this point, do I just run an RUU at some point? Hope it works.

I used Sunshine to get S-OFF. Everywhere I read, it says I need to have the boot loader locked to apply the RUU. However, while contacting the sunshine authors, they told me that despite what I have read, I don't have to relock. Is this true?

no you dont need to lock as your s-off, unlocked is fine.
locked / relocked for flashing firmware or RUU's is only required for s-on users and limited to 1 step forward or current only.
So now the ruu times out on sending.......
So I extracted the rom.zip. If I flash it from twrp since it has a recovery image in it, will it overwrite twrp?
I'm assuming yes and then I would have to fast boot twrp back again.
Is this correct? Thanks
Gave up and installed Maximus HD. Works fine. Just wanted to be on 5.0 to test things.
