You might be able to push the 12b radio to your phone from your computer via adb and your recovery
Worse case get into download mode and use the lg flash tool with a tot file.

Well I had to use the lgflash tool to revert to 11a. Back on 12b with after that huge 11a download. But is there is there Amy way to update the radio to 24a without getting bootloops?

Are you trying to install a 24A rom also? Follow the upgrade guide for that and you'll get the radios too.

Are you trying to stay on 12B while retaining the 24A radio or are you trying to update the ROM? If the latter, the procedure to my understanding is to update the bootstack while in recovery but make sure you reboot back into recovery or you'll be in the boot loop. From there you'll be able to flash the 24A ROM of your choosing.

Sprint OTA and root

I currently am not on the ota for the sprint moto x, my boot loader is unlocked, and I'm rooted. I'm not familiar with ota updating since I've always used Roms. Can I simply rsd back to stock with stock recovery, then accept the ota, flash twrp recovery and reroot?

That should work. You might be able to just fastboot recovery then take the update. It may cause a bootloop and make you rsd back to stock and take the update again. It may be worth it just to see if you can keep your data. In ether case you would want to back up your sdcard.

Safestrap won't boot on 4.4.2

Okay so I'm on a 4.4.2 Rom and I try to install the recovery through the safestrap app and when I reboot to recovery it just goes to the little stock recovery ...This is a kit kat issue? I don't know how to change roms

This has been explained a million times. SS does not work on KK. You will have to use Odin to flash the MJ5 AP and BL to use SS, Then back to Odin to flash back to Odin to flash back MGL AP and BL to boot again.

Yeah - it's mentioned that safestrap doesn't work in kit kat. Once you flash the MJ5 files back in Odin, you can access safestrap again.

No I don't get a boot loop.
I am already on a 4.4.2 rom. Hyperdrive.
But the weird thing is there is no custom recovery. I don't know how the person that I bought this phone from flashed it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using xda app-developers app
It is not weird that there is no custom recovery. The used SS and flashed the ROM to the stock slot. SS is still technically there it will just never show unless you Odin the AP and BL from MJ5.
Then once you are done flashing whatever with SS, you Odin the AP and BL from MGL so it will boot the ROM.
We have locked bootloaders a true custom recovery is impossible until there is a workaround or an unlock method is found. SS is all we have.

You won't be able to install it. You don't have root and can't have root on the MLG leak. You will need to revert to MJ5, thread is in general, then follow the OP of a ROM that you want.

Can I get the OTA and still root and install recovery?

I believe Ioroot still works, not sure if you can install recovery after taking the OTA?
Someone said that cloudyfa had as set of scripts that would do it for you.

Yes I believe the AutoRec app will. It still ends up flashing the 12B bootloader and laf though. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2715496
I still got to keep my root after the upgrade
So you upgraded OTA while on root?

Pretty sure it's doing that for you behind the scenes. I used ioroot25 to root 24A and AutoRec to put TWRP back, worked great.

[Q] need help rooting 4.4.2

Ok I'm still new to rooting so sorry if this is in the wrong place or sounds stupid. I got my lg flex about a month ago. i rooted it at 4.2. I didn't know that when 4.4.2 came out it would take my root away. well now when i try to use ioroot24 it cant find my phone after i toggle the usb mode. Any one got any ideas?
You cant root KK yet. If you REALLY want root, follow the tutorial at the G Flex General forum for going back to stock. You have to use the lg flash tools to flash stock .tot and then you can re-root. Thats what I did.
I rooted yesterday using ioroot 25 after stock flash and upgrade to Kit Kat on the Sprint LS995 version. It does it via update from adb in the stock recovery

Yeah after having a horrible update and getting caught in a boot loop I went back to starting over with lg flash tool to 4.2.2 taking the OTA to 4.4 and then ioroot 25 I tried the automatic method first and it rebooted to recovery and then choked so I selected apply update from ADB and adb side load kk_root.zip http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48709232&postcount=869 check the section under not working for manual root method

Best way to root latest 5.1 pure edition OTA?

What are people doing to root the newest official 5.1 pure OTA? I saw a couple of threads about root floating around, but cf autoroot seems to have failed for a few people. What are you guys using to root?
Sent from my XT1095 using Tapatalk
Completing this question by adding one more bit that is there any root method which supports easy unrooting like Kitkat days where we don't have to go through hassles and risks of flashing whole stock ROM again?
I rooted 5.1 by booting twrp and flashing latest supersu. I haven't tried yet to full unroot but it should work.

Via fastboot. I just unrooted my device, although bootloader says "Software status : Modified" so i don't think it's safe to OTA update.
Be careful with this method though. Cause as of now there is no full image of 5.1. Therefore no stock recovery if you want to flash everything back like stock , unless you go back to 5.0 and then flash ota, hence the potential risk.

Doesn't the factory reset convert the phone back into the stock? Like what used to happen in previous Android versions?

No, that's never been a thing. It only wipes /data and doesn't touch /system at all.
For that to work, they'd have to take up valuable phone space with system images.
As for root, getting it is virtually unchanged since 4.4.4. Use Cf-Auto-Root or let twrp do it.
Anybody tried re locking the boot loader.???

It's pointless to do. There is no valid reason to relock it.

the topic gone wrong, what is the best way to root latest ota? does cf-auto-root work?
since there is full image of latest 5.1 ota for pure edition, there are low risks of rooting.
any suggestion?

Just flash TWRP and root that way... If you don't want to overwrite the default recovery, boot TWRP. No real risks, it hasn't changed from 5.0.
