Hello everyone!
I have a problem with my I8190N, I think my internal storage is screwed up. I can't paste or do anything; I also can't install any app from the app store. When I plug my phone to my computer, the extSdCard is there when the phone storage is like unknown or unreadable!
Is there something I can do to format my internal storage and make it as it was?

If you have a custom recovery installed, go into recovery > mounts and storage and format /sdcard. This method will only delete your internal storage (music, pictures etc.) and not your apps. Alternative is factory reset. Or try to format your phone with your PC if the other didn't work. I hope this will solve your problem

Try flash in odin and see if it helps.

Major changes: update from 09.05.11
Fix the fact that some users were loosing root access with 5.0.1.0
Fix menu bug Even if you select no during wipe dalvik cache, it still says it wipes it (it is not actually wiping it, it is just a display bug)
Please update to ROM Manager 4.4.0.3 or higher and try out the new recovery!
Troubleshooting:
Flashing issues: If a recovery does not flash properly, enable erase recovery in settings and try flashing it again. Recovery flashing can be finicky at times.
Bugs: Report them to me! You can always revert back to the older recovery too from within ROM Manager!

To flash recovery for Nexus S, download recovery and place it into your sdk tools folder. Reboot into bootloader and execute:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-crespo.img
ill try
Sent from my Google Nexus S using XDA Premium App
I'm on it!
Or you can directly flash it from Rom Manager
You can also just put it on SD and flash from terminal then reboot.
Edit- before someone asks
su(press enter)
flash_image recovery /sdcard/5014cw.img(press enter)
reboot recovery(press enter)
Obviously the sdcard/* is whatever you rename the file

Hey guys,
Everytime I restore from a backup through Rom Manager with the new recovery, I lose root. Right now, I'm stuck at work and cannot flash a rom, theme, battery mod, etc. I'll go back to 4.0.1.4 as soon as I go home
Am I the only one?
Edit: Found a solution==> Reboot into Recovery, flash su.zip again, and it's all good now!

I always recommend not using rom manager for anything flashing related, most problems occur for people when they're using rom manager and get fixed when done through recovery or in this case terminal/adb

Strangely, *immediately* after flashing the new recovery, I have begun to experience the Nexus S Google Voice Search bug. In the two months I've had the phone, this never happened - not even once.
This was with a two week old CM nightly, and a Matrix kernel.
Regardless - I'm hoping we'll start to see 2.3.6 kernels/roms come out soon which will fix it permanently. I'm just shocked that this issue popped up immediately after flashing the updated Clockwork.
hey guys,
I have this following error after i restarted my phone
E:failed to mount /sdcard (File exists)
E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount /sdcard
your storage not prepared yet, please UI menu for format and reboot actions
Media files copy failed.
i have searched everywhere and found a solution in http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/6433-solved-messed-up-partitions-on-internal-storage/
However, im new to adb commands is there anyone who can give me step by step guide or anyone who had previous experience could help me
i have also tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=984140
did not work
thanks in advance
so im guessing no one had this problem
Does this happen under clockwork mod when you boot up the phone? As in you get the clockwork mod recovery right after you boot up with messages like "Error.." etc saying it can't mount stuff? If yes then you should use the PIT file 512 through odin, then flash a stock ROM. This should resurrect your phone.
thanks for your reply
I have flashed 512 pit file followed by 3 files of a stock rom still no luck
*sigh*
Is your signature up to date? You use the Oserx?
So one time you rebooted your phone, this error suddenly appears?
yea i was using oserx v1 with lagfix, after couple of days i got couple of FC than restarted this error emerged
This is just a wild shot, but you can try if you are desperate

Thanks for ur reply
I have already done this with no luck :-(
Anyone else have any idea?

I also had this problem. Was on stock JVT with semaphore, partitions converted to ext4.
I decided to reboot my phone for no particular reason (was working reat) and when i powered it on kept boot looping without really getting past the samsung gt-i9000 white letters / black background screen.
CWM recovery said it was unable to mount any partition. External SD mounted fine, just nothing from the internel sd. No system, data, whatever. Got me thinking i may had my internal sd malfunctioning.
I just flashed it with odin and my stock branded operator rom (2.3.3) and done nothing more. No repartition. Working great. Was probably some ext4 error.
Before that i had been using cyanogen stable. Started giving FC like mad, so i flashed that stock JVT. On hindsight it may only had been the data partition that had run out of free space but i had no way of knowing when it happened and needed my phone running.
Reflashing got mine running again. Maybe try with Heimdall if odin's not working for you? Be sure to get a complete rom, with bootloaders and such. I'd suggest your operator's stock one. That way you can also send it back to samsung if it still doesn't work.
Thanks for ur reply guys...
Went to some phone repair shop.. They said internal memory card is "fried" and it's going to cost me from $120-250 (Aussie dollar)
worst come to worse it's gonna cost 250 and add another 150 I can get a new phone
So thinking now lol

Same situation here. I've tried everything and now I dont know what to do anymore
Flash to stock rom than root agn.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Flashing with odin any stock rom, with 3 or 1 file, repartition on or off, pit 512 or 803 it is not working.
I begin to think that internal sd is hardware damaged
Got the same problem. My battery died on me when i was taking a nap. Plug it into the charger, turn it on and got a bootloop on the galaxy s screen. No matter what rom i flashed. I'm getting lots of red text when the phone reboot. Failed to mount is always in that list and i also know that after flashing my old directory is still being listed when i try to "install update.zip" from a dir. So i'm guessing my eternal memory is fried too. Shame that i had that chip replaced 2 month after i bought the phone brand new. Only lasted me little over a year. And now my provider want $200+ for repair. What a joke. i just bought a s2 galaxy 2 for 460 off craiglist so i don't have to deal with it anymore.
Guys it's a hardware problem. I've tried so many solutions but still no luck.
I don't even remember how did i end up with this problem !
Had this issue and resolved it no problem.
Flashed with odin 1.85 used pit 512 and three files (csc, pda, phone) & repartition checked followed by second flash of csc, pda, phone, no pit and repartition unchecked.
If not working try another stock rom. I had this with one and downloaded a different and all worked. also make sure kies and and kies services aren't running in the background.

first am new to the android world and i was reckless i know, but some help would be nice
Case:
-Device: Xperia X8
-Rom: Stock 2.1
-USB Debugging Enabled
-Root (SuperOneClick)
-BusyBox v1.18.4
-Bootloader locked ( default state didn't touch it so its locked i guess)
-No Recovery of any kind
-** Very Important to keep the files, so please no solutions includes wiping the internal memory
What happen:
i was using "Font installer" app to change fonts and accidentally replaced "ALL" the font files in "System/Fonts" and that led the device not to boot now stuck on "Sony Ericsson" black screen
So:
- I think i need a copy of the original "System/Fonts" of any Xperia X8, if you guys can upload?
- and i need to know how can i access the phone internal memory so i can replace the content of "System/Fonts" with the new files

Then I guess you are outta luck.. You have to re-flash your ROM. That'll delete data from internal memory. Data on SD Card will be safe..
May be you can use adb to push folder or files you want to its location. It will save your precious data.

@medomoo - There might be a way to access the internal memory with specialized equipment, but don't quote me on that one. Go to a phone repair shop or try talking directly to Sony.
The only thing you can do by yourself now is close your eyes and lose the information. You screwed things up really badly with no backup and no recovery. Learn, let it go and move on.

Thank you, But why i cant get root access in ADB
Let's put it another way. When your PC freezes, is there anything you can do to manipulate the files? No. Let's take one step further: when you get the blue screen of death while starting the system, is there anything you can do to anything inside your harddrive? No.
It's the same with your phone. Your phone is freezed even before mounting all of the partitions fully and correctly. So, ADB will do nothing. In short, in this regard, there's nothing you can do.
So, take your phone directly to Sony or to a phone repair shop. Or just lose the information.
OK lets say am going to flash a new ROM,
BTW just to take a lesson from that:- what is the safety steps i should take to prevent situation like this from happening again etc what kind of recovery and what else than recovery i can do ??
Backup all apps through titanium backup. And always make nandroid backup through recovery. Its advantage is that if you messed with your phone(like in this case) you can recover backup and you get your old phone back (with data of any kind).

One more thing. Why did you flash speedmod-kernel-i897-k13e-500hz_2? Flash CornKernel_UCKK4_v706 via odin first and then get into recovery mode.
In cwm recovery menu, don't select apply update from sdcard option. Instead select install zip from internal sd card(it's misleading though but this options lets you select zip file from your external sd card) and navigate to CM9 zip file you copied to your sd card. Then flash that zip.
I have had this happen to my phone twice and nothing fixed it, had to rma it and they replaced the main board, even reflashing on their end didn't solve the problem. Both time I was using voodoo lag fix and when I disabled it to flash a new rom I got that error.

You don't need to put in zip just release as recovery.img and is there a touch version? And it works fine

Great work!!
I haven't seen any bugs.
Is it working properly???Thinking to change the recovery...
Please if any one used it, can report bugs...
good work, tried it , It Works Fine... it has smaller text so it looks quite nice like that.
but instructions are not noob friendly and incorrect as far as i know
it says boot to clockwork mod, if comming from stock you wont have clockwork mod
and cannot be flashed via cwm anyway,
also ths needs to be flashed via fastboot
like so
open up cmd windows on pc, plug phone into usb
hold the volume down key and hold power button till you boot to bootloader
type this from the command window on your pc
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
good job though bro.
notes:, theres options in backup for internal sd card and we have no internal sd on this phone, so im assuming you can remove these
and upon boot into cwm recovery, it came up with "Warning: no such file" or something like that, but appers to work fine, baybe related to the internal sd I just mentioned.
There is a partition named and used as Internal Storage ...just take your SDCard out and you'll still have storage space
Bashing away at my HTC Desire C
that is true it does have a small storage
but just wanted to report that this recovery is giving a warning on first start
no file_contexts
and the cwm log is giving info
like
I: checking for extended command...
I: skipping execution of extended command, file not found...
I: can't format unknown volume: /external_sd
what is this about does anyone know, this cwm works great though
got no problems with it so far, quite like it, it seems a little faster to backup and restore
maybe just placebo, but gonna stay with it on phone see how it runs.
edit: also if select choose zip from internal sdcard
E: can't mount /emmc/
and key test, works but unable to go back
i just now tried it on my phone
hi i just flashed it on my phone .
i previously had Mujeni V5 as recomended i tried install zip from sd card but it did not work so i did adb thing with
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img and it worked .
i did not try or notice insternal storaged cards thing but when i come across it then ill post regarding it.
Thanks yajnab, it works perfectly on my phone! Now backup is completed correctly.

... but today I tried to cancel dalvik cache and it wasn't possible (error mounting file system, and something more like this). I tried to mount manually and still nothing. Am I alone?

However, on the last line of the main screen of CWM it's written: "Warning: No file_contexts". How can I save a log on memory card? If you mean recovery.log you can see it here: http://pastebin.com/BgCzWerx
Selecting "show log" on cwm I can read:
-----
init.svc.choice_fn=stopped
init.svc.dmesg=stopped
init.svc.detect_key=running
init.svc.rmt_storage=running
init.svc.adbd=restarting
service.adb.root=1
ro.9kramdump=0
init.svc.recovery=running
I:Checking for extendedcommand...
I:Skipping execution of extendedcommand, file not found...
I:Can't format unknown volume: /external_sd/tmp/recovery.log was copied to /sdcard/clockworkmod/recovery.log. Please open ROM manager to report the issue
-----
Is it normal I can change the option on the screen only by keys and not touching the screen?
thanks

I dunnno why this problem is arising . You cant use ROM manager and its not touch
Nice. Works fine, no bugs or anything. But I think no one would use it as we already have TWRP with full-touch and more features But still, GREAT WORK DUDE!
