[Q] Bootloader Unlocked? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

Hi All,
So yesterday I disabled a bunch of Samsung's junk on my AT&T S5. Last night I turned my phone off. This morning when I turned it on the boot screen comes up with an open lock and the word custom. I know on my Nexus 5 and 7 when the boot loader is unlocked it shows the open lock. I wanted to post this in Chainfire's CF-Auto-Root but it said I don't have enough post to put it there. This can't mean the bootloader is unlocked? That would be way to easy. Are there any Dev's reading this thread that could comment? Or could anyone link this post in Chainfire's thread for CF-Auto-Root to see what he says?

Sorry wouldn't let me post a link, so I put the underscores replacing the two dots. Hope that dosen't violate any rules bypassing it that way.
Thanks,
Carmen

Just seems weird to show an open lock for just disabling some apps...lol

While that is strange, there is a setting inside the dev menu that causes the phone to show the custom screen, I believe it's the runtime option.

It's fine. The reason I pointed you to the thread is that there is some information that has already been discussed about the issue that you might have missed out on. It's OK to learn about things and ask questions, it's just that so many people miss out on great information that already exists. To be honest, XDA's search feature isn't very reliable, so if you run into problems you can always use Google and type in your search criteria and end it with XDA to get a lot of XDA results directly from Google. Believe me, it will save you a lot of time and aggravation down the road.

[Q] What to do after rooting samsung Captivate?

I just rooted my samsung captivate and got "super permission" folder to my phone. so what is the next process in order to get 3rd party apps and games?
Apps and games? You get them from the market like usual. Most will say ' for root only'

Did you really just ask this question?
Most people do what the second poster suggested, you can use the android market or appbrain or even just look for apk's online and see what works. Is this your first mobile phone ever or are you pulling our legs I should mention you do not need to be rooted in order to get games and apps on your phone, only certain games and apps require the phone to be rooted.

This is my first "Android" mobile that's why i don't have enough information about it.

Just giving you hell haha. If you haven't already found out android market is tied to a gmail account. appbrain is an app you can download which is also very popular and it is too many better then the android market app.
Guys...he asked how to get 3rd party apps. Sheesh, you act like he's stupid. Refer to this for enabling 3rd party apps:

P.S. I would recommend you use method two, way easier and much less of a risk for you to mess something up. Also, here is a video tutorial for method two: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zo9BIRXvNfw&feature=related

Bud, the original post was edited after our comments so how about you pay attention to what is going on. Secondly some good ribbing is all that was going on prior to the op changing their question. So get off your horse and kick yourself if you think we are being too hard, I know I wasn't. Here is the original quote that if you would have read my first post you would have seen what they asked.

I can't root with Kingo. Tried activeroot too
Do you know any others that I can use to root WITHOUT flashing anything (because I do not want to trip the KNOX warranty void flag).
Thanks.
Kingo doesnt work as of 1/9/2014 on the phone details below.
I dont know what I'm doing wrong .. I followed all instructions and still get the error "prevention notification" "an app is force closed because of an unauthorized attempt to access system" comes up every time I try to (unsuccessfully) use kingo to root. Kingo fail with Root FAILED ScriptError

kernel 3.4.0-1625098
developer settings:

Any ideas appreciated.......... I dont want to flip that knox warranty trigger by doing the wrong thing (trying to avoid flashing..)

Some peeps are too flippin lazy. (even though they found xda using google search).
I hate it, makes it so difficult for members to find info, when someone starts the same thread every day.

On another forum, I find many times that when someone asks a question I don't know the answer to, a Google search brings up a good answer as the very first hit. And it takes longer to post a question than it does to do a Google lookup.
It's not laziness, it's lack of knowledge. The majority of the public is totally clueless when it comes to computers, even to using them for everyday tasks - like googling something. Laziness is a post titled GPS, with the body saying "doesn't work". Then they get angry because we tell them we need more information. (Many people have responded along the lines of "how do you keep this job when you don't know anything?" Job? When can I expect my first pay check?)

Yeah it does seem like that.
As for lazy, there are multiple forms. They must know Google or they wouldn't be At this site unless someone directed them here then if that was the case that person probably could have just helped. But for myself I tend to look up and see what's going on at least daily if not more frequent. And if I don't google/search I'll at least scroll through the first couple of pages at the topic to see if one matches or similar. When it comes to rom questions I read that entire thread and then ask unless it is a crazy busy post then I'll use the search. Too many times I see repetitive posts and I can see how so many get agrivated, specially when that exact same question was asked and answered on the page or 2 prior. That right there is another example of lazy.
And yes I agree that it has a lot to do with a lack of knowledge but I would not say lazy isn't a party of it

Seems like at least for me that rooting or changing roms arent that easy.
The post with the info from the dev starts out with how to then there are at least 20 pages of stuff to sift through to determine what issues people are having and what not with the processes.
So It might be easy for the veterans however for the noob it isnt quite so clear.
I hope I dont get flamed for this...

[Q] Q about Runtastic

Not sure where to post this, but does anyone know if there is an easier way to stop the workout on runtastic?
I run with an armband so by the time I take it off and unlock my phone 30 sec or so has already passed by. Or it takes even longer if I try to type my password through the plastic screen.
Does anyone know if there is a more efficient and faster way to stop the workout?
Why would an S6 forum be the spot for this?
Probably shouldn't be. I looked for a runtastic reddit or forum and couldn't find anything. Although I did see a few runtastic questions on xda on different phones so I figured I'd post here and give it a try.

Help with Nexus 6 stuck in demo mode

I have searched the XDA forums and have not found anything that pertains to this (I hope I didnt miss something), if I did miss something could you point me in the right direction? Here is the problem:
I recently got a Nexus 6 from my work, it was a store demo. I am having problems unlocking the bootloader in order to flash to the stock firmware. I have tried using the nexus root tool kit, adb, fastboot and android sdk, but to no avail. I am posting here because I am new to this and may have missed something. The phone is stuck in the demo mode and all the settings are locked, meaning that I cannot get into developer mode and check unlock oem bootloader, and cannot get into any other type of setting to take apps or switch security settings. When I try and open the developer options or other settings, I get a picture of a padlock with a caption of "This device is locked" and " Certain device features are unavailable for demonstrative purpose". It is running Marshmallow 6.0.1 and the build # is MMB29Q. I already have all the stock .img's and need a little help getting past this lock. So any help would be great.
Thank you
if its running in demo mode, then it is also running different software. since its on different software, i dont know if its possible to enable bootloader unlock in the dev options. if you cant enable that option, then the bootloader is not unlockable. but that all is just my guess.
Installing one of the OTA images may help with this.

I tried to install OTA using adb, kept getting a message saying "missing APK file". Any ideas?
So, I have not found a way to get out of the demo mode. I went ahead and did a factory reset on the phone, bug mistake. Now I have the problem of not knowing how to login due to the fact that I cannot get past the google sign in part after the factory reset. Any ideas?
Thank you
Bypassing factory reset protection can be done, but it isn't easy. For your sake, let's hope that you don't have the latest security updates installed on the phone.

The build is MMB29Q running 6.0 I found a back door kinda, I can get into the phone but will not let me get into developer mode doing this, and reset the phone, still needs original google sign in. I added a new google account under users in settings,to see if that would help, but still no luck getting into developer mode or other options. bootloader locked, so cannot get into adb shell. Any help, difficult or not, would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Get the original sign-in or have the original owner remove the device from the account. Those are far easier to accomplish than attempting to bypass FRP.

There is no "original" owner as it was a store demo. I have emailed the gmail account that was associated with it but no reply. I noticed that all the store demos had the same gmail associated with them. I believe that they may have been set up in mass, then sent out to the stores.

I work for a Verizon retailer in the U.S.. I believe that the people or person who set up the demo mode and set the google login were the ones who the retailer got the phones from. As I have asked the procurement manager, and he does not know either. They have a repair center located inside the store, this store refurbishes old store demos. I used to work for that department, now I am a field tech for that same retailer. They were having a hard time getting rid of the store demo on this phone, because there is no place to put a pass word in under the demo app, that we can find. They asked me to help, I could not figure it out on my own, so I came here to ask for some help.

That's the problem, the people in the repair/refurbish department do not know the logins/password either, that is why they asked me to help unlock these phones, so they could sell/ use motherboards for repairs. Motorola it is then, unless there is a way around the lock, which I was hoping to find here.

I don't think you will find on XDA how to bypass Google's anti-theft stuff. It's against the xda-rules.
It is the retailer or Motorola!
Btw when the phones have been sold as 'demo' (cheaper); I don't think the retailer will help.

flash the factory image for android 5.0, set it up, put in your own security then flash android 6.0.1. i say 5.0 because thats before googles security went into affect.
---------- Post added at 04:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:37 PM ----------
now this isnt an official way around googles security, nor a non official way, its a way to fix human error. thats all.
