[SOLVED] How to silence camera sounds?

Is there a way to silence the noise the phone makes when taking a picture? It's the added digital shutter noise, and we all know that digital cameras don't make those noises anymore! LOL
Open the camera. Click menu then click the gear wheel. Scroll down and uncheck the box next to shutter sound.

Thanks! For some reason I new what to do but couldn't remember, major brain fart. Ok, another question....is pressing the on screen button the only way to take a picture using the camera or can you default the volume or on/off switch to take one? (I am talking about the normal back camera, not the low quality front one)
No problem...glad it worked for you.
As far as taking a picture, I think the only option at this point is to use the on screen button. In order to use one of the physical keys, you'd either have to use a different camera app that includes button-mapping functionality or wait and see if someone creates a mod for the Bionic's camera that allows it to be changed.
Anyone know what is up with 3rd party camera apps still making the shutter noise? I have it off on the default app and it works fine. But using a 3rd party camera makes the shutter noise no matter what. I've tried it with 2 other apps and both have an option to disable shutter noise but it still makes it. I guess not updated for the Bionic yet? Though that doesn't make much sense.

I can tell you that Camera360 does it for sure. Disabled the sound but it still plays anyway.
Vignette does it too. I turned off the sound, but it's still there.
I noticed the same thing with Tasker, even when all volumes are muted, using Tasker to take a photo (even with "discrete" mode), there is still a shutter click sound.

Quoting myself for solution: renaming "/system/media/audio/ui/camera_click.ogg" appears to disable the shutter sound for all camera use.

You have to play around with the settings, on my G2X I have Phone Line as the audio source and Mono as the audio channel.
I remember there was a video of someone ported the Z1 OS to the Z, in the video he show that theres a built in call recording function for the Z1 OS, wonder what happened to it....

[Q] SGS I9000: sound crackles when start playing and stopping sound file

Hi,
I am using the cyanogenmod 11 (nightly, Android 4.4) on my old SGS I9000. It iswokring great, as KitKat can handle less memory quite well.
My only problem is an sound issue:
The sound crackles and rustles softly when playing a sound file with my music player (poweramp) or for instance a system sound.
It is like:
clicking sound playback > sound crackle > low rustle > sound playback starting > sound playback stopping > low rustle > sound crackle
(the low rustle seems during the whole playback period, but is been noticed by silence more)
Is anyone knowing the problem?
I have used another jellybean mod before > smae problem
problem seems not with the official latest firmware 2.3.4, but I donĀ“t want to use this
Thanks for help!
Hi, are you using any sound management app like dsp manager? If so try to turn off equalizer and bass amplifier there. Or if you want to, you could try CyanAOSP 2.8 a great rom based on 4.4 I've been using and see if there are problems.

I tried this already
I replaced now the Audio Drivers from the Motorola Stock ROM and I get a bootloop
I have the same problem with all custom roms. Not only in whatsapp but in every sound recording (even in videos).
Ok guys I got the problem...
Whatsapp is using the false microphone in Custom ROMs.
If I blow in the rear camera mic you will hear it.... If i blow in the main microphone theres nothing... But in the normal sound recorder it will work, but not in Whatsapp Voice notes.
Can I change that? My voice is then so clearly how in stock rom
Regards

Really? Then I don't know what's wrong here, because this is the only thing that I think it's better in stock rom.
The ROM is just using the wrong mic... Its using the camera microphone and these sounds like cancer

I tried to change mics in camera options but none of the options are equal or better than stock.
Tip: Make a Whatsapp Voice Note to a friend! And then you are using the Sound Recorder that is in your CM ROM, and then you know the difference

Are you using the last nightly build or snapshot?
It doesn't matter, the developer never patched it... I emailed him so often... But I was using the last snapshot. In the nightly its the same

I rarely use voice notes in Whatsapp. That's why I didn't notice this.
Ok, I am using Whatsapp Voice Notes every day.... This is a big disadvantage from CM... and the only one
I have the same problem, but the quality is bad in any custom rom, I think the performance of the Stock too bad ... unfortunately I'm in it because of the voice notes, I use them a lot with my girlfriend ...
Not only the Whatsapp voice quality but also the incoming call volume is slightly lower than stock.
