Hi there,
I have a question regarding the APN list in Android. I mostly use stock ROMS, and I noticed that my provider (Telfort, Netherlands) uses a network by KPN (that's another provider). The result is that every time I connect my Wireless Data, I need to enable roaming. Result of that is that I cannot see to which network I'm connected (2g, 3g).
A week ago I flashed the Omni Rom. Excellent Rom, but it is not suitable for me yet. Anyway, the network connectivity indicator showed 2g, 3g, HSDPA, etc. It works in that ROM, and I didn't have to enable roaming.
So to come to the question, can I add a list of APN of some kind, so I can see my network mode?
Thanks in advance.

I have just got the HTC Mteor but I can't get it to work with GPRS on orange PAYG or Contract. I saw some files on this forum but it won't let me run them on the phone. Can anyone help me set it up please?
sorry to havent answerd your question in other thread...
when this from my post don't works:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1244877&postcount=8
just google for the correct settings from your provider!!
or just call them that they say you the settings!!
also my provider has a map on his webpage where i can check what coverage is available in my location!!
also when you see the 3g symbol in top bar you are in a 3g location!
maybe you must have a special contract with your provider to start connections in 3g area?!
just try to set bandwidch to GSM (means only GPRS/EDGE) and test the connection!!
if this works your provider maybe have lock if you haven't a special "3g Contract"
I tried to contact Orange but they didn't have this phone on their list and then they gave me some settings that didn't work?
I don't think this phone works on 3G actually. I know it has GPRS covergae because there is always a letter "G" on the top of the screen. If anyone else has this phone on Orange then can you let me know what setting you are using please.
when your provider supports 3g then your phone have no problems!!!
UMTS is supported by mteor from factory out!!
HSDPA Supports is added with actuell Shipped ROM !!!
when you only have the G icon it means you have only configured (in bandwitch selection gsm) or your network coverage has only GPRS available!!
just check the settings under settings/phone/bandwitch(?!)
there are 2 lines first band: 1. AUto 2. GSM 3. WCDMA (=3g, hsdpa)
2nd is the region... should normaly be on auto...
I just checked the setting that you mentioned and it was set to auto on both options. I tried setting to the 3G and it said that it was not possible to connect when I typed in an internet address on internet explorer.
maybe you have not 3g coverage at your location!! or your contract didn allow 3g connection!! ask your provider!!
when configuring the data connection look to the modem options there you can select different modems .. just try gprs only
The device has been successfully HARDSPL-ed and flashed new radio and rom.
Everything works except the 3G connectivity. When i choose manually GSM/EDGE band the data connection works without a problem. If Auto mode or UMTS band is enabled the device connects to the 3G network but can not establish data connection. It tries several times to bring up the data connection but it fails and after several attempts it loses network registration leaving me wit icon that shows ! sign on top . The same thing happens with all operators here ( T-Mobile Montenegro, Telenor and MTEL Serbia )
Can anybody give me a clue what is wrong.
hi dcetkovic.. your problem is same with mine.. until now no one can solve this problem.. until i gave up unsubcribe my internet broadband 3g.. is useless without 3g
Also haPpens to me with the radio of origin. Anybody knows some solution for this problem?
Problem 3g frequent disconnectios
I had the same problem with the version 1.27. The solution was to change the radio to version 1.58.21.23. The radio, sometimes, is not compatible with the operator. Test it and good luck!
i have changed both OS and Radio ROM to factory versions and still have the problem. It looks like a hardware fault to me.
Hello,
I think you must test with others roms radio. Visit this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=461359&highlight=radio
And good luck!

hi there, is there a program that could set manually the GSM/EDGE band? my current radio is 1.27, it seems that it doest want to choose the HSDPA only. There's HSDPA signal on my location, i have an HTC Advantage and it shows that its connected thru (H) however on my shift. it only shows (E) Edge.
Hi,
I am using Nexus One in India, and my service provider is MTNL Mumbai. Their network is 3G enabled. I have 3G activated by the service provider too. I have put the settings for my APN, using the settings available here -- dolphin.mumbai.mtnl.net.in/cominfo/docs/general.doc (Sorry, I am not able to post links)
However, try as I might, I have only the "E" icon displayed in the status bar displayed, no 3G. The EDGE network works properly, I am able to surf, but of course, it is horribly slow.
Things I have tried:
- Settings, Mobile networks, uncheck "Use 2G networks only"
- Go to test menu (*#*#4636#*#*) and set the phone mode to "WCDMA only"
- Searched google for people having the same problem
When I set the network mode to "WCDMA only", for some time it shows no network, and then again drops back to "WCDMA Preferred", and shows the "E" icon. My N-1 was bought from Singapore, it original had the EPF21B build on it. Hence, I am assuming that my radio is hardware compatible with my service provider..? MTNL uses European 3G frequencies. Also, the problem is the service itself, since I am able to activate and use 3G properly in my Nokia E51.
Currently, I am running the FRF50 Froyo build - I have unlocked the bootloader and rooted my N1. However, the same problem used to occur on the stock EPF21B build, even when the phone was "virgin".
I'd appreciate any help. Thank you.
If I see correctly, your provider works with 2100 MHz - which would make it compatible with both Nexus versions, so the problem most likely isn't there.
Yes, MTNL Mumbai uses 2100 MHz. Any other ideas or suggestions, please?
Hello,
My I9000 has a peculiar problem: While both mobile internet and Wi-Fi work fine, switching to 2G when 3G/UMTS/HSDPA coverage is bad does not. It ends up losing network connectivity completely in areas where other phones have no problem staying connected by switching to GPRS/EDGE. (3G coverage is spotty here at times, so this matters quite a lot.)
This problem has first appeared rather spontaneously when it was running its stock 2.1 firmware and has persisted through upgrades to stock 2.3 and CyanogenMod 10 through 11. I've attempted to switch modem firmware to mitigate it to no avail. (Modems XXJVT and ZFJPG/BVJJPG were tried, no difference was noticed - I am rather wary of messing with modems further, as this is my only phone and I'd rather it still could call at the end of the day.)
Moreover, if network mode is switched to GPRS/EDGE manually, it can't be switched back to 3G (either manually or automatically) without a reboot. (The 'set preferred network type' field in *#*#4636#*#* starts resetting itself to 'Unknown' spontaneously at this point.)
Unfortunately, I don't know many details of the incident that caused the appearance of the problem, as I was not the owner of the phone at the time - I only know that it was roaming nationally (within the same country) at the time. (The network type should have been the same, and it's not like it's stuck in roaming in any way.)
Has anybody encountered such a problem before? Is this likely to be a hardware problem, or could there be a software fix?
Thank you in advance for your thoughts.

you need to try fiddling with its network settings (read this for info only) you can use service codes on i9000 to set your network settings . Sometimes it may be due to network settings not set to Auto and set to preferred and at other times it could be antenna connection inside the phone having poor contacts.

Thank you for the hint. I have tried setting the "Select radio band" setting in *#*#4636#*#* > Phone information to European bands manually, and this appears to have mitigated the problem at least partly (phone has switched to 2G and back a few times during the day). I've noticed that it would sometimes just turn mobile data off despite having a good signal, not sure if this is related. It also sometimes seems to prefer another operator's 3G network to its own 2G ("emergency calls only", network mode is UMTS/HSDPA), but this is only guesswork since I have no way to actually confirm that the areas where this occurs have 2G coverage (it just seems really unlikely that they wouldn't). Maybe the fact preferred network type is "WCDMA preferred" factors into this.
TL;DR: Forcing radio bands seems to have helped, other radio weirdnesses remain but aren't nearly as bad.
I am running this excellent ROM on my X1, but I face one annoying problem with data connectivity. Provider is Vodafone Germany.
After installation, I ran the automatic network setup, and it created a profile 'Vodafone DE'. Since I had problems with data connectivity, I added another network profile Vodafone Internet which I use and which works fine.
GSM/EDGE and HDSPA connectivity are fine, no problems. Vodafone seemed to have some bugs with switching stations to LTE capability, and on these stations, UMTS data connectivity did not work, I had to disable UMTS and use GSM only. This problem of downward compatibility seems to be solved now.
However, when having UMTS enabled, in cases of cell switching under weak signal levels, the data connection gets lost. When I check the Network selection, I get "Vodafone Internet" registered for Internet access, and "Vodafone DE" for private network. Sometimes it is "Vodafone DE" for both. I have to switch manually the internet access back to "Vodafone Internet" and the private network to "My work network" to make UTMS data connectivity working again. In the GSM only mode, this does not occur.
I tried to delete the "Vodafone DE" profile since I do not need it, but this is not possible. Somehow it seems to be registered as default profile and is used as fall back if connectivity with the active profile fails.
Any idea how to solve this?
