Hi guys,
I was wandering why cyan keeps messing with the alarm clock. One update he will have 2 sounds, the next (4.3) has only the crappy non hearable buzzer sound. Also his ROMS only allow up to 10 alarms to be set. I'm a hard sleeper takes more lol. I was wandering if it was possible to use the original alarm clock used in donut and if so where can I get it from.
Correct me if I'm wrong. Go into system/apps and replace old with new and reboot.
Please provide me with a link to do so.
Thanks,
Nick
You can add notifications...
no u can't.

Yes, you can.

or:
/sdcard/media/audio/alarms
because adding to notifications they may not show in the alarm clock app.

Entirely unnecessary, if you have them in the correct structure, they won't show in your media player.
/sdcard/media/audio/alarms
/sdcard/media/audio/notifications
/sdcard/media/audio/ringtones
/sdcard/media/audio/ui
that is how Android expects to find them, and if they are like that it won't pick them up in the music player.
Thank you all for your help. All the info I needed has been provided. Thank you for the link to the audio files.
Nick
I dunno if this is the right thread about my problem, but it has to do with the alarm clock.
Some how when i goto pick my alarm i have the default Buzzer sound along with 3 other of the same name. and ive searched the sdcard and the root sys for the these files but fail to find them.
what started it was i tried to download a ringtone through the browser and could never find it on the system or in the ringtones list... some how they ended up in the alarms list.
and help would be great
Hi,
I am looking for the stock Captivate Clock app to be able to install it on my wife's Aria. She really likes the smart allarm option.
You should be able to find it in the stock dump here:

OK that leads me to the next question.
How to extract apps from the rom. I tried to install the .apk file but it failed. Also tried to copy .apk and .odex files to system/app folder with same result.
PS Excuse my noobiness, but i am new to android, coming from WM.

You could look for the Alarm Klock app in the marketplace, it has a smart alarm feature and easier to configure options. Plus you can remove the notification icon! And its free. Also you can use mp3s on the device meaning you can edit the mp3 volume to fade in yourself.

Thank you , will look into it.
I'm basically not going to use the default Clock app for alarms, Alarm Klock does exactly what I want it to.
Buying klaxon from the market supports clockwork. It's my favorite that I've found. He has a free version to try. Plus combined with genie, it makes a nice dock screen.

Hi!
I had a galaxy s before, and I really loved the "Good morning" wake up tone in the smart alarm. Could someone please export it, and upload it somewhere so I could use it on my current phone? Thanks!
best regards, SteMa
u mean the small music.. slowly making u awake every morning? with the slowly improving sound ( 5 minutes before actual alarm goes off )
i love it
ive been looking around my phone for you but didnt find the tune yet. its not a normal tune i guess..
That's exactly what I'm looking for! It was pleasing to wake to that It must be a normal tune, but maybe renamed and hidden in the system :S But I would really like to have it
yeah i guess it is the functionality "smart alarm" .. hidden somewhere
Pm to me with email, i will send it to you...
What?! How can you like this? I hate this goddamn alarm, lol
If I have to wake up to something anyway, this should be the tune
bayerischbeer: sent, thx!
edit: well at least I hope this is the one I liked Is this the one the sprinkling and flute nature-like tune?

how can u hate this alarm.. you wake up so quiet with this alarm.. so joyful.. relaxing..
its the best way of getting wake up by an alarm instead of some clock doing EEP EEP EEP EEP EEP
I think you're after:
/system/media/audio/ui/Morning.ogg
That's the one that sounds like flutes and running water...
/system/media/audio/alarms/Good_Morning.ogg is quite 'loud' and jarring by comparison...
I'd upload it... But apparently I can only upload from the gallery, music player or voice recorder??! Wtf?
If I remember, I'll upload it tomorrow my from desktop...

u never mentioned u are a fruit-user ! shush out of our forums u !
I was always planning to tell you that after I got what I want I was unsatisfied with the gps in the sgs, it was a bit big to handle, and the lack of led-flash... The iphone came in our country and with a contract, it's at a reasonable price (when I bought the sgs, the iphone was 2.5x more expensive (gray import))
Great thanks for the morning.ogg
I like to wake up with the smart alarm. But I disable it because it doesn't have SNOOZE - If I Stop it apparently the alarm doesn't play 5 minutes after...
Can someone please tell me how I can flash these files into the current ROM I'm using? I'm relatively new, so I don't know how to create flashable files so I can install stuff into the system

Thanks for the files exadeci!
I listened to these files on my computer and it doesn't sound like the volume increases as the file plays.
When I use the Smart Alarm, the sounds gets louder and louder as the file plays.
Does the Samsung Smart Alarm app increase the volume or is the volume increase supposed to be part of the file?

Can you just point your alarm clock to play these files? I think they are regular sound files that you can tell your alarm app to use.

It's very simple... If you want to use any sound as an alarm or ringtone, you just have to convert your song into *.ogg and place it in the internal SD card.
Then, unplug USB and the phone will scans your new files.
After that, you can use your song as ringtone or alarm!

Just download a ROM, no matter which one (stock or custom), and open it with winrar, then go to :
system/media/audio/alarms or notifications or ringtones
You'll find here all the sound used by the phone!
Take the file you want to use then, and place it into your phone to use it
does anyone know how to change that goofy ringtone coming on Viber for Android?
thanks
Yoni
I'd love to help mate, but I cannot understand your question

i have samsung galaxy s i posted it here...
the viber app comes with very annoying ringtone. do you know how can it be changed as through the app it can't be done
Yes, I would like to know how to change the ring tone to Viber. Basically, Viber is an application and is have an audio file that I could change with the same name. The idea is that I do not know where I can find the location of file in phone . APK remain in phone or separate files that decompress like the iOS ?
Edit: I mention that I already tried to change the APK file / res/raw/viber_ring.ogg then I resigned APK, may occur but unfortunately is not received by the server Viber
No one at all?!!
I've just installed Viber after my Whatsapp free subscription ran out. It's annoying not being able to customize the notifications. I've been using Light Flow to override the app settings, seems to work.
Go to Settings and check the "use system sounds" box, and it will use your phone ringtone.
How about Samsung Galaxy note viber???
How to change for samsung note?
default notification tone from viber is very low volume, would like to custom it. any idea?
Hello!
We (3 Microsoft Student Partners) created a free (yes, free!) WP 7.5 application, Good Morning.
Here is the description:
"Good Morning is an alarm clock using your personal musics. Browse your favorite tracks, choose one and let it act as an alarm.
Coming up:
- Enable multiple alarms
- Create a playlist as an alarm clock"
Here is the link: windowsphone.com/en-US/apps/a3144459-4a33-4aab-b81f-ff030ee92281
We currently released the V1 of the app. If you have some ideas for another version, or if you saw some problems with the app, your feedback is welcomed!
Pierre
Hello Guys!
We have updated the app:
Changelog:
-pictures are not pixelized
-possibility to add a reminder when the alarm is active
-the alarm can be started from any slide of the app.
As usual, your feedbacks are welcomed !
Good app, works perfect on HD2 with the latest build of WP7.5
Thanks! I'm not sure if you all are open to suggestions, but I would kill for an alarm clock that could use a podcast, audio or video, as an alarm clock. For example, I'd love to wake up to the latest edition of the "Wall Street Journal This Morning" podcast!
Great App! I'm testing it & i love the UI (clean & metro).
Hope we'll see next version soon.
EDIT: Could you make this App works in background? Will be better.

Unfortunately, no. There is no way to do that with the current APIs.

Hello! Our latest update has been accepted, and you'll be able to download it in the next hours.
Here are the modifications:
v1.2 :
- "Shake to snooze": delay the alarm during 5 minutes
- settings page added
- start/pause button deleted (for managing the music)
- pin an alarm on the phone's home page
- icons of the application use the phone's accent color

I know you guys are Student dev's and congrats on your App but I am here to let you know you can actually run your app as a background process. You need to create a separate program in general and add it in to your current project as now your app has 2 projects.
Yes, you could turn the other project in to a control but I don't recommend it as this way you can edit better and no need to re-compile out of project.
With your second project, it runs in the background allowing the other project to be the "brain". If you add a reference to your main app, you can do quite a bit in your bg app, for example... Have it detect the time and than send the function of an alert someone sent...
It's the same idea as if you were going to do TOAST/LIVE Tile updates.
Hope my 2 cents didn't offend you, just trying to help you .
Thanks,
Lance

Hi lseidman,
Thanks for your feedback.
You're right, I can add another project to my solution to implement a background agent.
Unfortunately, afaik :
1/ The player uses the Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Media namespace, which can't be referenced from a Task Agent project.
2/ Tasks are handled by the system. We can't defined the scheduled interval. As mentioned on msdn [I can't post any outside link - sorry] a periodic task can run every 10mn at least.
I don't know every APIs and I may be wrong, but I don't think what you described is a solution. Please let me know if i'm wrong.
Thanks again for helping me make this app better !

1).
Have you tried using using System.Windows.Media and doing something like (in XAML):
<MediaElement x:Name="mediaControl" Source="soundfile.mp3/wma" AutoPlay="False" Width="0" Height="0" Margin="240,60" />
* Note the 0's so it's hidden.
** You can replace source's defined file location (assuming your not copying the file they select to local storage, renaming and defining it as one specific item name) to Source="{Binding filetoplay}".
Obviously when using binding your going to need to have something to bind to it (even if you did a "public string itemname {get; set;}" in a class).
Which you could always use IsolatedStorage like I said above in which you could do:
using (isolatedStorageFileStream)
{
SaveFile(e.Result, isolatedStorageFileStream);
//error is null function, go and do:
media.SetSource(isolatedStorageFileStream);
}
* Just know other steps are needed before you even get to that point but just an example. This is obviously where you previously grabbed the file, "created" it, saved it and set for playback (hence the .SetSource).
Then for playback wherever you needed it, you just throw: mediaControl.Play();.
Again, just an idea to get around XNA. It won't be simple if you're not familiar with IsolatedStorage and other aspects around it but you can get away from XNA.
2). Take a look at these, maybe they'll help you...
ScheduledNotification Class
Alarm Class
Reminder Class
Also check out the other items around the PeriodicTask.
Either way, good luck and best of luck with future development!
Thanks,
Lance
