Okay to flash TWRP I just need to download TWRP 2.6.3.3 then put it in platform tools folder than go to fastboot and run in command prompt this command fastboot flash recovery and then type the name like this openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img..

And also can I skip installation of firmware.zip?

Prism Gap Fix
when i attempt to flash the prism_gap_fix.zip in twrp 2.6.3.3, after swiping to flash, my phone reboots without installing the zip file.
I've tried on twrp 2.7 too with same results, any fix for this?

Update to marshmallow roms

A year back I installed XZDualRecovery with a Lollipop ROM from xda. Now I want to update to resurrection remix for marshmallow. I wanted to know what is the path to follow?
Flash twrp 3.0+ (can I directly flash it on my current phone using twrp 2.8 on XZDualRecovery?).
and then the kernel?

You can flash RR rom using twrp 2.8 and if you want to update twrp then flash the twrp 3.0.2 zip after flashing the rom.You don't need to flash any other custom kernel on RR.It's stable.

Once you have twrp recovery you are not able to apply new update roms, except if you can put back the original recovery.img through fastboot command.
Only for ASUS ZC554KL !!

How to update

Hi all,
Got my new 4X with Miui 9.5.4.0 ROM | installed TWRP 3.2.1.0 | flashed lazyflasher | rebooted | flashed SU 2.82 and all working well. Selected the option to not have read-only system in TWRP.
Questions:
1. Will OTA updates now work and if so must I re-flash anything?
2. If I flash a MIUI update via recovery must I re-flash anything?
TIA
Greg

1. (Incremental) OTA update works if you use Redwolf recovery for MIUI https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-redmi-4x/development/unofficial-redwolf-recovery-t3776738, see #2
2. Yes.. (and maybe no) A full system update will overwrite everything including root/kernel/firmware etc, I'm not sure about incremental updates though, it shouldn't overwrite anything unless the update includes its own version of that anything

You must use a specific/old TWRP for P9, for A6:
