I'm rooted, s-off, and using stock 3.05.651.6. I use BatteryGuru, and it worked great before root/s-off, but my Wi-Fi won't stay off no matter which settings I choose.
Any ideas?

I have had the same issue before as well. Tell me do you have connection optimizer or something like that turned on? This app attempts to locate previously used WiFi networks in order to off load excess data off the carriers network.
I have the Wi-Fi optimization turned on in advanced settings, but that's it.

As far as I know batteryguru saves the location of known WiFis and when in range or near that location it will enable WiFi to turn off mobile network in order to save battery

Weird thing is, I have my network notification completely off and it still notifies me. Not sure what to do about it.

Just noticed also that when I turn my Wi-Fi notification on, it turns itself off right away and still notifies me.
Is this something that could've happened on account of root, and can I fix it somehow?

My previous device was HTC HD was fine with the network ..
But the new device not ????
My modem is SpeedTouch 585
any solution !!
Back up everything first and do factory reset.
Or try to reflash with another RUU.
Check that too your background data must be enabled..
And does your internet browser work on mobile?
I'm kinda noob in this scene :S
I've done factory reset and nothing happen
Have u triead a diff wifi network?

Is "background data" enabled? Settings>Accounts& sync. If not enable it.

Hello, i'm using virtuos rom 1.31. It's really great but my wifi connection drops down to zero after a few minuts. I cannot download anything using wifi. Does somebody knows how to solve this problem....
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA App
Does it drop while downloading large files? My wifi works fine but as soon as I go to download large files, sometimes even 5mb files my wifi drops out although the ICON stays fully lit like it has full bars. I cannot seem to find a fix. Its annoying when trying to download 100+ mb files when your wifi drops out every 4-5 mbs
Thats right, when i switch back to mobile internet everything works fine.

Same here, are you running any custom rom? I'm running android rev 1.1.6, i've tried to play around with wifi settings and even downloading "wifi fixing" apps, nothing seems to work. Hope someone has an answer, there was a thread about this on the HTC Hero forums but they have no solution either just yet.
Anybody?

when in wifi settings, click the menu button and go to advanced settings.
set the sleep policy to never and choose "best wifi performance".
That helped mine a ton
It's already like that!

I was just trying to help, that's the only changes I know of you can make. You could always look up some build.prop tweaks
Ok, so on my Rezound, HTC kindly included a widget and a quick setting to just turn off mobile network. While off, I can still make and receive calls, send and receive SMS (not MMS) texts, and save a lot of battery use. Is there an equivalent from Motorola or 3rd party (no ads please!) For the Droid 4?

As I understand it, everything on Droid 4 requires data connectivity to function.

It's ad based.

False.
Or maybe "True" depending on how you define "everything".
With mobile network data off, phone calls still work, SMS text still works.
Sometimes we need to slow battery drain and it just means turning the smart phone into a dumb one
To be clear, I'm looking for a one button non-ad sponsored widget that will conveniently do the equivalent of a "system settings", then "data usage" and then "mobile data off/on".

Then install AdFree, so you don't have to mess with ads at all

Data ON-OFF should do the trick without ads. But I highly recommend adfree app too for general purposes
Just use Power Toggles. It has the Mobile Data on/off toggle. It works with my Droid 4 just fine:

I'm too using power toggles. It's very good.
Hi guys. I have been trying to set up mobile hotspot on my razr i but with no success. I'd like to connect my older phone via wifi. It all seems fine after setting it up it is all connected but no data go through. With my old nokia it worked without any problem.
Any suggestions?
Have anyone got it working on razr i?
I am still on ICS 4.0.4
No rooted and also don't want to use any hotspot apps from play store.
Many thanks.

Go to Settings>More( under wireless and networks) > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names.
You should see three options;
1. (Usually Carrier Name)
2 (Usually Carrier Name) dun
3. (Usually Carrier Name) MMS
Tap the first one, and scroll down until you see apn types. Change from
default to
default,dun. (NO SPACE)
That should fix it!

Okay so tethering and Hotspot works on my phone if I use a separate app, but how come when I use the stock one, it looks like this? Also, the option from the settings disappeared after doing something with root. Thanks
