Razr i mobile hotspot - RAZR i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys. I have been trying to set up mobile hotspot on my razr i but with no success. I'd like to connect my older phone via wifi. It all seems fine after setting it up it is all connected but no data go through. With my old nokia it worked without any problem.
Any suggestions?
Have anyone got it working on razr i?
I am still on ICS 4.0.4
No rooted and also don't want to use any hotspot apps from play store.
Many thanks.

Go to Settings>More( under wireless and networks) > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names.
You should see three options;
1. (Usually Carrier Name)
2 (Usually Carrier Name) dun
3. (Usually Carrier Name) MMS
Tap the first one, and scroll down until you see apn types. Change from
default to
default,dun. (NO SPACE)
That should fix it!

Does P7300 native Tethering/hotspot works ?

I switch on my P7300 Tethering to share my 3G network, my S3 connected. However, my S3 not able to get on the Internet.
but my P7300 3G is working just fine on Internet access.
Anyone know why & howto fix it ?
Try foxfi in the market, it's free.
I tried. This app simply call the native Tether from Tab, no it is not working.
I also tried Baracle and Wireless Tether for root users, they only works for ipad/iphone. My S3 come not even search it.
anyone get it working ?

Tethering & Mobile Hostpot Fail

I really need help guys, I got this model atrix mb886 i havent been able to use tethering option. First i have an issue when trying to turn it on because it was being fowarded to at&t website to set my hotspot account, i fixed that using one of the tutorials found here changing some settings with SQ Editor app then seems to be working fine but when connecting to any other device (laptop or tablet) is not trasmitting no signal and im not able to browse. I have read a lot of tutorials found here. I have also set up apn settings like my provider suggested to but still doenst work. I tried to change the apn type adding dun after default (default, dun) i got an error message that is restricted and can be only provided by the carrier. Im done with this ive tried everything you guys can think of. I need help. My phone is rooted, it runs official OS 4.1.1 and im using it in Panama (my carrier cwpanama) it is unlocked everything works fine. However my tethering and mobile hotspot doesnt. I googled it nothing found. Please help me guys. I open this post because nobody seems to have same issue. Thanks in advanced

You also need to change the dun_apn_changeable to 1 with your SQ editor. It's in the relevant threads.

I just used the built in tethering option of android. When the AT&T pop up comes up just hit the home button. Then go back to the settings and it will work.

Not on AT&T without adding the feature and charging additionally for it.
I know Verizon does it for free after the FCC case about the LTE bandwidth.
I've always done the workaround with the wife tether apk... I'll keep trying and searching.

Like other people said, use FoxFi or the native android app. When the box comes up that says call ATT don't push OK, just hit the home button. You now have a wireless access point.

Not sure if this is an old trick or not but hitting home doesn't work. The phone says I have an active wifi network but it is not broadcasting (AT&T is killing any broadcasting).

Why would my wifi keep turning on regardless of settings?

I'm rooted, s-off, and using stock 3.05.651.6. I use BatteryGuru, and it worked great before root/s-off, but my Wi-Fi won't stay off no matter which settings I choose.
Any ideas?

I have had the same issue before as well. Tell me do you have connection optimizer or something like that turned on? This app attempts to locate previously used WiFi networks in order to off load excess data off the carriers network.
I have the Wi-Fi optimization turned on in advanced settings, but that's it.

As far as I know batteryguru saves the location of known WiFis and when in range or near that location it will enable WiFi to turn off mobile network in order to save battery

Weird thing is, I have my network notification completely off and it still notifies me. Not sure what to do about it.

Just noticed also that when I turn my Wi-Fi notification on, it turns itself off right away and still notifies me.
Is this something that could've happened on account of root, and can I fix it somehow?
