Hangouts not sending and lagging? - Moto X Q&A

so my phone overall has been lagging pretty bad the last 24 hours and Hangouts seems to be giving me the most issues. when i type in a text and hit send, the text in the box will disappear and then nothing happens. normally what i send will show in conversation with the "sending" bubles or something, but when i hit send it all just disappears. sometimes like 10 minutes after i hit send, then the text will show and sending and then take a really long time to go through. sometimes it will never show up. i have tried to force close, reboot, and nothing works. when i do, hangout will sometime pull up and i will just see the loading circle and it will never pull up till i force stop it a few times. i have tried to pull up evolve SMS and that wont load either? any idea for a fix or what could be the issue?

Go into recovery & clear cache, then download the new version of Hangouts, Android police has it

Weird SMS

Does anyone get like a glitch kinda thing with their sms when they are receiving them. ...Sometimes I will receive sms messages with no problems what so ever and i will receive them right away. Other times, It will be hours after they were sent and I will receive them. Or I will not receive them until the next time I go and open my sms inbox when im planning to send another, all of a sudden I just receive a new msg, hours late.
Any ideas?
its usually just your gsm service, my carrier is on-time but the time-stamps on the message is sometimes wrong.
maybe sometimes, but other times ...for example, I may be having a conversation at night, then fall asleep. The next morning, when im going to send a new sms message, i open the sms message window and a new text arrives with the time stamp from the night before, and i know that this new message was not just sent now because the person who sent it is still asleep
bump.......
yea its the network.
or u just got a really crappy sim card.
Yeah, I get that. It's probably a minor software glitch. I've had people call me complaining I didn't respond to a message and lo and behold, when I open messages to prove them hideously wrong, the 'message recieved' tone beeps several times and "[X] new text messages" pops up at the bottom of the screen.
Still not figured out how to set the phone up to do this (i.e. whether you minimise or hide the messaging app, whether you open a new app first then go back to today screen, etc..)
Still, only rarely happens. And at other times when recieving texts I could swear the phone doesn't beep... just conspirationally increments the new message counter and keeps silent. I pick up the phone after it's been sat next to me and it says I have several new messages.
Same thing happens to me, i've researched it for days and cant find a fix. I'm dreading calling ATT because they are usually of no help, but I'm gonna put my pants on and call them in a few minutes.

many problems with diamond.

ok so i'm going to try and write down everything that is going wrong with my phone right now.
when i boot it up, touchflo will not start, i just see calender and contacts on the bottom. if i click on contacts, it takes a while to load, then just says enter a name on the top. with no list of my contacts.
i can not receive or send calls. i just had a friend try to call me and the middle round button and the send button blink, but no screen pops up saying i have a call. i try to press send and nothing happens.
i can barely send a text message, it takes about 10 minutes for the text message to load if it even loads. can't browse the internet.
calender works fine, google maps works fine, small games work fine, like teeter. age of empires will not load though. messenger will not load.
i can browse my programs though and go into file explorer.
activesync is giving me a message when i try to connect saying
"Activesync cannot connect ot the windows mobile powered device. to troubleshoot the problem, click ok."
the scan after says this
Unable to establish a connection between the PC and the device. Get up-to-date solutions to common connection problems. Please click the following link: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=65257
when i was drunk and camping on the weekend my phone gave me a message saying it could not start because it was not properly turned off the last time and said i would have to press the volume button to restart it, which i didn't do cause i didn't want to lose my contacts.
has anyone else had these problems? any way to fix it? or am i just going to have to do a hard reset?
also i'm not sure if the Pim Backup v2.8 works for the diamond? i'm in there reading right now.
another problem i noticed is that when loaded a text message, if its the first text i've gotten from a number it loads really fast, but when i load one from someone that i've communicated with for a while, it takes forever to load if it does. most times it just doesnt load and freezes for a bit.
I think we need some more information. Maybe if you answer these questions, someone can help you, before you'll have to hard reset..
The ROM version?
The TF3D version?
What software, like lockers, screen rotators, key mappers, task managers, battery savers etc. are running in the background (as a service)?
What does Settings - System - Memory say about free program memory?
Anyway, PIM Backup works fine on the Diamond. Good luck!

Issues with SMS (failure)

Alright, for the past 3 Cyanogenmod roms that I have had (ever since donut)
I have a text messaging problem, where 30% of my texts come back with a "failure" regardless of which Sms app im using... and I keep resending it over and over again and it keeps returning the same failure... the only way to fix it is to reboot the phone
by then, I receive any incoming SMS as well that didnt make it through to my phone.
AND... on top of that... recipients are telling me that my so called failed texts are actually going through... and all my resends go through as well... so they will end up with multiple identical messages from me.

cyanogen texting?

my nexus from time to time says that the text messages that i sent doesnt send. i would get a notification saying that it didnt send, however when i go to resend, sometimes it goes through and sometimes it doesnt. my friends have told me that they do get all the texts messages everytime, so they get them even if my phone says it didnt send. its reaaaaaaalllllyy annoying to see that notification every time. im running cyanogenmod 5.0.6 any thoughts?
oh btw fellas, i work at ATT and i changed my sim card and all that jazz so its not the service what so ever
I have similar issues every now and then. Usually occurs when I am sending texts fast.
I have the same issue minus that all my text usually don't go through. I usually end up rephrasing what I wanted to send and it sends.
it happens from time to time for me too, i sometimes have to reboot

Z3 Compact randomly black screen

Hi there
I have a really annoying problem, that happens maybe 3-4 times a week.
Take the example that just happened today, I'll be using my phone writing through messenger, and then suddenly the flow function doesn't work in swiftkey, but I could still write messages and get responses.
Then when I hit the home button my screen goes black: *Don't know how to link to pictures on a new profile*
I can still pull down the notification bar, and pressing the recent apps let me see the title for the last app I used for a split second before it goes dark again.
I can even open my camera app, through the physical button, and when I returned it looked like this: *Can't post pictures*
I can always fix it by restarting my phone twice, the first time it doesn't register the sim card, and after the second time everything is working and back to normal.
I've considered factory resetting my phone to see if that would work, but I've so many apps and settings customized, that it would take a very long time to restore, and even then I'm not even sure it will fix it.
Could it maybe a hardware issue?
It happened on 5.0.2 and still occur after the 5.1.1 update
I really need your help guys.
