How do you know? KK 4.4 is stock but just Rooted + Recovery.
1- Reboot your phone and when the Green Led appear Hold Volume Down to enter in TWRP.
2- Test if you have Root. Download ES3 Root Explorer, grant it by SuperSU, Mount System to R/W, make a file in system folder.
Did you do that?

Stop this NOW! vroot is not a safe method to root, that sends your imei number to people in China never use that.
Also the [NUT] method ALREADY include root with XZDualRecovery stop wasting your time by rooting with another method that's useless.
That makes me nut that people came here and ask help when they only follow step they want instead the full process, no no and no!
So follow the FULL process and you won't have any problem.

It's ok

So you can Enter in TWRP Recovery? That mean something is working. Install NDR Utils by NUT and check again.

I was using App2sd script too but the things on Z1 are more complicated, thanx Google, so at the moment the only efficient method is to use Folder Mount.

As I said, nowhere is told that XZDualRecovery Root your phone and you did right, like many instructions saying. That the recovery grant Root I hear first time yestarday from QualQuek and gregbradley, just don't understand why every instruction say to root with different method if that is the quickest way. BTW, best method to Root, exept DualRecovery, the .534 FW is Bin4ry Method. Also IMEI lost was reported many times, but good you are fine, next time you know what you have to do, it's time learning.

So according to the list, flashing 534fw is supported for the root so that will root the phone.
If you follow exactly [NUT]'s method you'll have the latest fw rooted.
You'll never lost your IMEI by following the [NUT]'s method for the simply reason that you start by flashing a full stock 534fw, that's the way to recover the lost IMEI as well or using SUS if the flashing didn't work.

Darling, it is not the main method to Root the phone, I am almost 6 months here try understanding the best way to do it, as it was my intentions, and was never, i mean NEVER, recommended to Root with recovery, but with Bin4ry. Yes, recovery grant root, but this not make my sentence WRONG.

Grow up please, i'm not here to debate with you about what is the best method/option for rooting the phone, you said a wrong thing i've corrected it so don't react like a kid.
Also when you follow exactly the [NUT]'s method the root is included and it's the safe way to root your phone. I don't focus on my personal opinion, i focus on the best option, the [NUT]'s method is the best option.

Probably because I used to recommend Bin4rys method until [NUT] implemented this into his Dual Recovery script.
Now I recommend doing it by dual recovery because using bin4rys method is obsolete now and is an extra step that is not needed.
@eclyptos, there is no two ways about it, advising rooting by bin4ry then installing dual recovery is overkill and not needed, again, its all about learning what these individual processes do to your phone and not what the end product is...
You could recommend leaving it on charge for 24 hours before each step to make sure its at least 50% charged. It does not mean its a wrong instruction, just that's its not needed.

Ok,Ok.

Full rooting guide for xperia t lt30p build 7.0.A.3.195

After having many problems rooting my xperia t james bond phone, I decided making a noob-ready tutorial on how to root the xperia t and probably other phones aswell.
No technical stuff, just follow the steps and you will be rooted in no time.
I did this with:
android version 4.0.4
build 7.0.A.3.195
So the very first thing you should do is unlocking your bootloader. Sony has made their own tutorial on how to do this, but It can be a little complicated. Im gonna link you to it and to a videp which explains it very well. I prefer the video myself.
http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0e1DYnoxUm0
After that you will need to unlock recovery mode. You can do this in 2 ways but I prefer the easy one.
The easy one is:
Installing a custom kernel with recovery mode integrated in it.
Use this link to download the kernel or go to the forum thread where I found it:
http://www.mediafire.com/?n4v89r2fvri2wlb
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1922925
Now that you've got the kernel with recovery mode integrated downloaded, we need to flash/install it into the phone.
You need to do this via flashtool. That's atleast the easiest I think.
You can download flashtool from the following website:
http://androxyde.github.com/
Install it. If you have problems installing the drivers for flashtool, you can use this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOC57DfI1zo
Now you need to make sure your phone is on and connected to your pc.
Open flashtool and click on the thunderbolt in the upper left corner.
Select fastboot mode.
Now select "Reboot into fastboot mode (via ADB)"
Wait for it to reboot. There should be a blue light turned on, on your phone.
Now look at your pc screen again. Click on "Select Kernel To Flash"
Select the kernel that I Gave you in the beginning of the tutorial.
Wait for it to install and your mobile probably reboot etc. untill it is on.
Now download Superuser zip file : https://rapidshare.com/#!download|939p5|3415386268|Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip|1324|0|0
Place the Superuser zip file on your mobile phone memory card or internal memory.
Now Turn off your phone completely.
Now we are gonna go into recovery mode to install Superuser.
There are several ways to do this but the one I use is holding both the volume buttons down and then holding the power button aswell.
(I did this when my phone was connected from my pc) or you use this video (skip to 3:31)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fMk0PhA_qc
It should boot into recovery mode. You can use the volume buttons to go up and down and the power button to select. Browse to the sdcard for the superuser.zip file and install it. (the most easy part).
Now go back to the start screen of recovery mode and select reboot into system.
Done, you have now got a fully rooted xperia T lt30p
Please tell me if I missed something. My first post ever lol
This post helped me alot:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1903137
Many thanks for your input here, but it is just a replication of the all in one thread instructions.
Also, to enter recovery mode you just need to press the volume up button when the purple led appears at boot up, you dont need to press all 3 buttons.
Also, you can download the SuperSU.apk directly from the market instead of flashing it in recovery.
Never the less, this is quite comprehensive and i have linked it to the all in one thread.

Update via SUES or PCCompanion if your firmware has the official update. If not you can still upgrade via flashtool, just read the all in one thread. All information is there.
However, if you update the only way to root is unlock your bootloader.

Having a similar issue here.
Any ideas?
Has anyone tried using DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v18_perf-event-exploit.zip from this thread? Since it's possible to root 10.1.D.0.343 I would try upgrading to 10.3.1.B.0.256 first, then install 10.1.D.0.343 kernel using Flashtool, then root using DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v18_perf-event-exploit.zip then install the new 10.3.1.B.0.256 kernel. I would create a 10.3.1.B.0.256.ftf and test it but I'm on a business trip in Australia at the moment and don't have the time.
Does any knowledgeable person have any update on this situation?
Any tips of what we Docomo users should do? I don't want to lose my root. And other users point out updating outright doesn't work anyway.

Have you looked at the DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v18_perf-event-exploit.zip thread? The same procedure should apply since you can root 10.1.D.0.343's kernel.
1. Upgrade to 10.3.1.B.0.256 (you'll lose root at this point)
2. install 10.1.D.0.343's kernel

Thx, but my phone's bootloader is locked (as are all Docomo phones). I thought it was impossible to install a different kernel then. Not t mention that some people noted that the OTA upgade doesn't work if your pone is rooted. Haven't tried it myself though.
Losing root does not mean I lose CWM, right?
Edit: So I tried updating it, the update just stops after 2-3 minutes, the phone reboots and I get a message 'update failed, please try again'.

it'll still work with the SO-02E locked bootloader. I too am on SO-02E locked bootloader docomo and have tested this method using 10.3.1.A.2.67. After installing 10.3.1.B.0.256 you'll have to reinstall 10.1.D.0.343's kernel using Flashtool then just use rootkit to root it and finally reinstall 10.3.1.B.0.256's kernel using Flashtool.
I usually create my own .ftf files and use Flashtool to upgrade. I can't test it since I'm in Australia at the moment but it should work as long as you have 10.1.D.0.343's kernel installed....just don't forget to reinstall 10.3.1.B.0.256 afterwards. You'll lose CMW/TWRP so you'll have to reinstall it afterwards.
I've been trying to do the OTA update. But it keeps failing. I was pretty confident with my old Galaxy Note, flashing new roms and kernels almost every day, but I can't seem to get the hang of fooling around with my Xperia Z. I'm really afraid of losing my NFC-Felica functions, I need them daily for my commute.
I think the update fails because of my root. I could reflash an original ROM, but then I will loose root and recovery if I understand it correctly. The update will probably work, but can I reflash 434 then to root it? (434 was Android 4.1.2 and the new firmware is 4.2.2).
I'm kinda confused (and very stupid apparently .

The issue I am running into is that I cannot make the OTA Update (Step 1)work with or without losing the root.
If I could get to that point I'm pretty sure I could follow the procedure to to reroot the device, I just need to get the initial upgrade taken care of.
Any Thoughts?

I had exactly the same problem, impossible to remove the root correctly to make the OTA work. In the end I just used flashtool to put stock 434 back on the phone. The OTA worked perfectly after that. Especially now that you can root 256 it's a non issue. Make a backup with Titanium backup of your apps on your SD card before restoring it. You can use it to put all your apps back after you root 256. A bit annoying, but all in all it's the easiest way I've found.
Thanks
That worked. Thanks to everyone for all your help.

In the tread is some confuse because most people have UB and are different steps (sorry I´m novice an can´t post in dev treads)

Just unlock the freakin bootloader already like i did last night. and use flashtool 9.11 instead of 9.13 for some reason it keeps installing the wrong driver for the phone which results in a header error.

I don't know if you know that the v.9.11 is not recommended with Z1 and you risk to brick your phone. Unlocking Bootloader is needed for Custom Kernel only and if you do that you will lose Warranty and some features. Just follow the Video and you will be fine. BTW, windows installed the drivers for me and all was fine.
Get the root

The finally way to get full Root was:
Downgrade to .134 (NUT's provide) Root and Install the last XZDual Recovery (NUT provide)
In TWRP Flash iHakers 2.1 (minimal) Before boot to system, Flash Lastest XZDual Recovery (NUT provide) and flash lastest Supersu Zip Flashable (Chainfire provide)
Boot to system and restore all my apps with TB open each and every one app that needs root to get it (root)
Go back to TWRP and Now Flash .136 (NUT provide) With only wipe cache and dalvik cache (this is important because is the only way that a could gets the root in .136) Flash again last Supersu.zip flashable.
Turn off my phone And flash the properly stripped.ftf provided by NUT, turn on my phone and get full root.
(in other ways only gets partialy root)
In the NUT thread some people have same problem like mine (Even NUT comment it)
Sorry my english, to bad
Thanks all for your help.

In Flashtool uncheck "Wipe Data". In PC Companion use Backup & Restore, Update and if you lost something Restore with PC Companion.
Guys i got the phone recently, i unlocked my bootloader yesterday and i am on 136 now... I dont want to bother with downgrading and so on but i don't have root nor recovery... can't i just flash something rooted with flashtool so that afterwards i'll be able to just flash through recovery on the phone?
I moved from an Xperia S and none of these issues existed there...
Thank you in advance.
Oh nevermind gentlemen, thanks for the help
I Solved the issue by simply installing Ihackers advanced kernel.img trough Flashtool with the fastboot method... Pretty simple it got me an instant recovery and trough it i rooted and then installed SuperSU from the playstore... I finally understood the general concept...
P.S. I am with an unlocked bootloader so thats why i managed to install the kernel...

[GUIDE][HOW-TO][T/TX/V]Root Guide On Android 4.3 For Locked Bootloaders

IMPORTANT:
This method is now obsolete and not needed, we are able to root directly onto 4.3 now thanks to geohot, please see towelroot thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783157
OLD METHOD:
I see many threads about rooting Android 4.3, especially with locked bootloaders, along with many users getting confused about it so decided to make this guide on how to get root on your Android 4.3 device
Unfortunately there is no method to root directly on the Xperia T/TL/TX/V with Android 4.3, we must downgrade first!
Step 1, Getting flashtool installed:
You need to download flashtool and install the latest drivers, this can all be found here and here
Step 2, Getting your device running Android 4.1.2 which is rootable!:
You need to download a 4.1.2 FTF file, I recommend using this one if you are an Xperia T user,
Use this one if you are an Xperia V user.
Use this one if you are an Xperia TX user
although any will do as long as has a build number earlier than 9.1.A.1.141
Next what you need to do is open up flashtool which you installed in Step 1. Next click on the lightning bolt button which is the flash button, flashmode should be selected by default, click OK!
Now you are in the firmware selection area, navigate to where you downloaded the FTF file using the browse button in the top right.
Select the correct firmware, then click OK!
It'll process a bit, then will tell you to connect your device, firstly put your cable into the computer/laptop first, then hold down the volume down button on your device and connect the micro USB part to the device.
If all goes well it will start flashing, finish and tell you to restart the phone, the process could easily take 15 minutes, so be patient.
Step 3, Lets root the device:
Try rooting with the root option within FlashTool
Should that not work try this:
You want to download bin4rys rooting toolkit, which is found here and here
This part you will be walked through in the command prompt of the toolkit, it will tell you what to do and when, it is very simple!
Step 4, Now we're rooted, we want a recovery:
Now we need to get CWM recovery for locked bootloaders installed!
Download CWM installer here
Next extract the folder to somewhere on your computer, connect your phone to the computer, remember to allow unknown sources to be installed and to allow usb debugging, these can be found in 'security' and 'developer options' respectively.
Once done, double click on 'install.bat' and let the installer do it's magic.
If you have issues with this step, take a look at the 'Unable to enter recovery' section in the CWM for locked bootloaders thread here
Step 5, Download a rooted 4.3 update:
If you are an Xperia T user download from here
If you are an Xperia V user download from here
If you are an Xperia TX user download from here
Now transfer the package to the SD card on your device.
Next you want to power off your device, once that is done power back on, when you hit the first vibrate you should see a blue led, start repeatedly pressing the volume up button, the led should turn green and you will enter into CWM recovery.
RECOMMENDED: Now you are in recovery you should do a complete wipe data/factory reset, now this can be skipped but if it leads to errors and problems then you may need to go back to step 1, you have been warned!
Head to install zip from SD card and locate to where you downloaded the file, then flash the file!
Step 6, Enjoy:
You should now be all up to date with Android 4.3 and have root access, feel free to comment and ask questions in the thread if you are having problems or things didn't work as they should.
You also now should have PhilZ Touch Recovery installed which will allow you to install mods, make backups etc. To enter it is the exact same procedure as for CWM earlier on!

Fair enough, if it works for some people they can go this method. OTA updates with root isn't fool proof though so some users may find they loose it.
This is also more for people who have already OTA updated and don't have root

If you are on 4.1.2 then you can root and backup your data with Titanium Backup, If you're already on 4.3 and have to downgrade then you will have to wipe, otherwise you can get into problems

[Q] Xperia Z1 Rooting - Still confused

If I am not the most ignorant XDAdevelopers member I am certainly in the top 10. That said here is my dilemma.
Equipment:
* Phone: Sony Xperia Z1
* Model: C6906
* Android Version: 4.3
* Build: 14.2.A.0.209
Goals:
* I would like root access (SuperSU).
* I don't want ClockWork Mod Manager (permanently, if I need to use it at some point).
* I DON'T want a custom ROM (I want to keep the stock firmware).
* Xposed Framework provide all the functionality I need.
* IF boot loader unlocking is necessary I would like to be able to relock the boot loader.
From my readings KINGO would appear to be amongst the simplest root tools, but from the KINGO site it does not appear to support the Z1. On the other hand, I have read posts where users say they have used KINGO on this phone.
Is a full nandroid backup possible/necessary given the above prior to making changes?
As I already feel like the South end of a horse facing North, please be gentle with any comments.
Thanks in advance.
hip
You want a full nandroid backup but no recovery? I suggest you install a recovery and leave it there. It wont make any difference to you
First, if all you want is root them do this
1) Downgrade to 4.2 FW ending in .534
2) Install dual recovery from the cross development thread
3) Flash SuperSU.zip from chainfire
4) Upgrade to your chosen ROM, there are several stock based ones in the development section.
No need to unlock your bootloader, you will be rooted and your choice of ROM with the ability to use xposed

Look carefully my friend and the truth will appear to you clearly... It is supported as you seed at this line :
How to update to 14.3.A.0.681:
Files:
For C6906: Download C6906_14.3.A.0.681.flashable.zip (Bittorrent: 956MB) and C6906_14.3.A.0.681_Stripped.ftf (21MB)
You don't heave to Unlock Bootloader to get Root. I don't know what is ClockWork Mod Manager? For sure you will need a recovery, permanently like TWRP or Philz to make Update with Pre-Rooted Androids.
Download the FTF .534 Rogers for your model form FTF Collection in general Section, flash it with Flashtool v0.9.15, when you are on 4.2.2 FW .534 Root it with Bin4ry Method (from PC, there is not simplest way), Install SuperSU from Play Store or Flash the .zip file (you will find the link on How Root 4.3 or 4.4), then Instal XZDualRecovery (from PC, there is not simplest way), now you are ready to update to your favorite Android 4.3 or 4.4 and follow the instructions of "Hot to" in the specific thread.

CMW recovery-Clock Work Mod recovery
Its the one Philz is based on...
You do not need it permanently, you can delete it and reinstall it when you want it, but I don't see the point in that, just leave it there to be used as when is needed.
BTW, I am not soo fast in typing so I am the last one!!

I was hoping to avoid what appears to me major modifications like flashing firmware (next phone is a nexus).
Another question, if I root only will a factory restore remove root?
Thanks to all the help. Off to work now, looking forward to reading more comments if any more are offered.

yes, flashing stock FTF will revert your phone back to a factory state
This process of rooting will take about 10 minutes once you have everything downloaded, its not difficult.
