[Q] Mac sync problem on Cyanogenmod - Motorola Droid 4

Hi, I am on the latest stable version of Cyanogenmod (10.2) and am having problems connecting to my Mac. At the moment my Mac mini (mavericks) can only see the Droid 4 for about 5 minutes after rebooting, then I get the message that the disk has been removed without being ejected. I am connecting by USB (though am happy for Bluetooth or wifi suggestions).
Disk utility cannot see the Droid 4 or its sd memory card when I plug it in, only on a freshly booted phone.Don't think it is the memory card as I have tried it with other cards. Likewise I do not know if it is Cyanogenmod or an app that may be causing this.
Oh, and of course when I get round to posting this the phone has stayed connected for an hour without disconnecting. The last time it did this was when I installed Cyanogenmod.
Has anyone else had this problem and managed to fix it? Thanks

[Q] SDcard getting corrupt

Hi,
My first post here, so hello to all forum users.
When I tried to copy/paste a file (~50MB) from my PC to External SD card on my Galaxy S,
it froze, then shut off - couldn't restart it unless I removed battery for a few seconds.
Sometimes it will seemingly copy/paste files ok, but then the files turn out to be corrupted.
The card (SanDisk 8GB class 2) was Ok at first, and I had copied some files to it without problem, but after a couple of days I noticed some file names were corrupted.
Are there any known problems regarding SDcards getting corrupted with the SGS?
Just wondering if anyone has had similar problems?
Thanks
yes - although my issue was that files would disappear after a short while.
i isolated the problem to my windows 7 OS running on an old Acer.
copying files via linux solves the problem. my brother's asus can write files to the sd card perfectly using windows 7
wierd really
Had a similar problem until I replaced my USB extention cable, The extension cable was USB1 not USB2, got a USB2 extension cable and its fine now even connects to Keis 1st time everytime.
It happened twice to me within 3 days:
first time while synching with media player.
The second: while bluetooth paired, in copilot gps, a call came.
I went to anwser on bluetooth, no respond.
then tried with the phone. It froze.
Then I had to shut down manually (I tried holding the butthon to choose shutdown but everything was frozen).
Then the SD card shows as corrupt.
can't unmount and can't format through the settings.
Got to do it from the top drop down menu. Then choose the sdcard and it asked if I wanted to format.
I've experienced this as well twice already. First is after uninstalling nDrive which is installed on my external SDcard. Second is when i'm trying to copy files from my external SDcard to my pc. I was trying to access the internal SDcard at the same time while i'm copying the files from external SDcard then suddently my galaxy s MTP gave me a force close message. Then it froze and i have no choice but to press power button until it restarts. After restart my phone told me that my external SDcard is corrupted and needs to be formatted. Can't unmount it either so have to do the formatting via the notification area. Really annoying as my phone is less than 2 weeks old. I have this bad feeling that there is a hardware and software problem with my phone! I don't want to send it back yet as it would take ages before i get it again!
This is happening to me as well! The only quickfix was to copy manually without using my galaxy to copy them (just used a sd card reader).
Is this a widespread issue? Any fixes?
BUMP, anyone?

My GT-I9000M Won't Install on my Computer

When I plug my SGS Vibrant (I9000M) into my computer running Win7 Pro 64-bit the icon for drivers being installed pops up in the tray. However, all drivers for the phone fail to be installed. I have installed Kies, but it does not connect the phone, it does continuously try connecting to it though. I also notice the screen of the SGS is flashing. You can breifly see the USB sign on it, but then it just continuously alternates between that and the idle screen in rapid succession. On the idle screen I noticed the top had a bar mentioning mtp application. Any advice in solving this issue would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
you need try on a winXP computer
many people have reported problem on Vista / 7
you can try to do it again by "Run AS" administrator
I have the same effing problem man. Happened just now and was trying to find a solutions on the forums and your topic just popped up.
The very funny thing is that I am currently trying to connect the phone to my laptop ( WIN7 x64) and it doesn't work while at my office computer running also WIN7 X64 it works flawlessly.
Maybe somebody has an idea about this.
May I mention that I cannot see the phone in My computer and Kies just hangs at the loading forever
I also have the Connect/Homescreen screens dancing and changing back and forth in a rapid succession.
I've had some minor success. I've gotten 2/3 of the drivers installed, but the MTP usb device won't install. I've tried a couple of the ideas floating around when I googled the issue, but still no success with it.
More info in the issue in the FAQ
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723596
Hint: Search in page for "Wuala"
I'm downloading those drivers to try now. I'll get back with results if any.
I've gotten my computer to recognize the phone finally and the MTP USB device driver seems to be installed yet Kies still won't connect to the phone.
The steps I followed were:
1. Unmount Internal SD Card
2. Format Internal SD Card
3. Connect to computer
After those steps it connected fine except for Kies still messing around. The phone no longer does the connect/home dance, instead Kies is in a continuous loop of trying to connect while the phone says it is connected.
I'm thinking of trying the Windows XP Virtual Machine next.
I've tried for hours now with little success for my computer recognizing it, but the little success I had achieved with my previous post undid itself and now that fix no longer works. I've tried older versions of Kies, but the older versions of Kies don't support the SGS and the newer versions don't even recognize the phone. I've done almost everything I can possibly think of and find on google in getting my phone recognized by my comp. I'm so close to returning this phone to go back to my blackberry. If anyone can think of anything that may help, please advise. Thanks again.
Well, the problem has finally been solved. I had to completely reinstall windows to fix it. Hopefully this phone is wort the mad amounts of stress it has caused me so far.
wow, that was pretty insane, have to reinstall entire OS just to get KIES to work?

[Q] Cannot mount SD via USB anymore.

Hello guys.
Got a new Captivate. Have not rooted/flashed or anything like that. Wish I knew how to do it reliably and be able to go back to factory install with all my stuff backed up (a la iPhone) but that will have to wait till I solve this issue first.
I called Samsung on this when I first got this phone and tried to mount the SD cards to my Mac.
We eventually figured out that USB Debugging had to be enabled on the Captivate for my Mac to see the memory cards.
That worked fine for a week. Suddenly, as of today, I can no longer mount the cards, and therefore I am dealing with the painfully slow Bluetooth syncing of data with Missing Sync software (which is pretty awkward by the way).
My computer is able to charge the phone via USB, but every combination of USB debugging settings, SD card settings, etc, will no longer let me mount the cards on the Mac.
I have reset the phone to factory software, erased both memory cards, and still no luck.
Anybody have any ideas? I think the phone has gone bad, but wanted to see if you guys had any last minute thoughts.
Thanks!

SD doesn't always detect and issues installing apps

Guys, I've been searching for the last couple of weeks for solutions to what I believe is a unique problem with N1, so here I am ...
Basic details of NI:
Mod: Cyanogen 6.0.0
Kernel: 2.6.34.5
Baseband: 5.08
Build: FRF91
Issue number 1: Intermittent detection of SDcard.
A few weeks ago the N1 was not detecting my SDcard. I searched the web and tried a number of solutions. What has worked for me is to shut down, reseat the SDcard and hope for the best. Sometimes this would work after a couple of attempts other times I'd try this over days...
So I decide to buy a new card. Kingston 16gb SDHC. I format this for FAT32 copy my files across and pop it in. It gets detected, but once again intermittently, though it is detected after a shutdown and reseat more often than the previous card.
Now here is the uniqueness of my issue which I haven't been able to find in other places.
Even is the card is detected by the system and loads all the applications that are installed on it, if I go to 'manage applications' and select an application the 'total', 'application' and 'data' fields under storage show "computing..." and this doesn't change no mater how long I leave it. This is also the case for 'cache'.
Also, if I go to 'sd card and phone storage' it show the total space and available space no problems, but if I try to unmount it stalls then crashes out of settings.
I have no trouble reading either card on my Windows 7 machine.
Does anyone have any ideas on this particular issue?
Issue number 2 is that I can't update my apps ... it always gets stuck on 'installing ...'. I suspect however that if I sort out issue 1, issue 2 will also be solved.
Any help is much appreciated, as I'm rather at my wits end...
Ok, so an update on this. I've done a bit more reading, and discovered that my problem isn't so unique after all. Have tried a number of things, but nothing has worked perfectly for me yet.
I've wiped the card, reformated and the phone now detects it.
When I copy across all the files again the card stops being detected again.
So then I delete everything but the .android_secure folder and it still doesn't detect.
Does anyone know what app could be causing this?
I've seen some success by formatting the SD with a specific PC based program. Formatting from the phone gives mixed results.
Unfortunately, I can't remember the name, so you'll have to search...
If I remember, I'll post back...
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Try SD Formatter.

So after tinkering around with this issue a little bit, I ended up deleting the .android_secure folder.
After this everything seemed to work again. I could install apps and the card was being detected just fine.
Now, a couple of weeks later, I am having the same issues and it is again driving me nuts.
Does anyone have an idea of what the app is that is causing this problem?
I have the same problem since yesterday!
Btw I have rooted stock Froyo FRG83D, locked bootloader.
I think the app I installed yesterday was SetCPU. I don't know if the problem appeared because of that..
My apps installed on the SD Card are not recognized but I can see my photos in the Gallery which are stored on the SD Card as well! WTH!
Also I cannot install anything from the market..
Any solutions anyone?!?
I think what is screwing up the apps is using CM's ability to move apps to the SD card.
I have reinstalled all the apps using Titanium and have only moved those that you can natively. Will see how this goes.

Nook Color won't go into USB Mode

I really need some help here as I have hit a wall. Currently my Nook Color will not go into USB Mode when connected to the PC (Win 7 x64). When I plug it in the drives show up under My Computer but are the generic greyed out Removable Disk icons. I did have my NC dual booted with Taosaur's instructions and this problem started when I went to update the stock ROM.
Since then I've gone through the instructions in that thread several times and even posted there with no luck. I've restored to stock every way I can find including the 8 failed boots method and have tried damn near everything else I can find. I've swapped out drivers on the PC, reinstalled the Android SDK more than once and have verified this same thing occurs on multiple PCs and with multiple cables. I will say that the one time I got it to work was by rolling the NC all the way back to 1.1.0 but if I update after that it stops working again.
As it stands now my NC is completely stock as far as I can tell it just won't let me transfer files to it. If I transfer a book to the SD Card on the PC and then plug it into the NC and try to open it all I get is a blank white screen with a small black arrow at the top and the NC becomes unresponsive.
Is there some change I'm missing that would cause this or anything else I might have done? Please offer any help you can think as I've tried everything I can find. Also, sorry for the wall of text.

No idea what your specific problem is, but I'd suggest skipping the cable and using a wireless transfer solution anyways. Easier than breaking out the cable (or transferring the card). Try wifi file explorer pro. I've been using it for months on several different android devices and it's never failed to be awesome (and the dev updates it every few weeks with new features!). good luck!
Have you tried a different SD card? It could be that that one is borked.
I haven't tried a different card in the device so I will check that out. However, I can put that card in a USB reader and transfer files to it that way but when I try to open them on the book afterwards it's just a white screen with a little black arrow on it.
