So my Xperia Z1 was working without any problems but when I listen to music the speaker is very quiet. I tried to fix it by rebooting but the problem is still there. I may add that the phone was splashed with water before that happenend but it was not the first time that the phone had contact with water. Is anyone having the experience and is there a solution for this problem?

I have the same problem when I've been under the shower with my phone. Usually it takes a bit of time to dry I guess, after a while mine works fine again. I suggest you just put it down for an hour or so and you're good to go.
It's common, water proof speaker react always after get water,
Just shake your phone and it will fine.

Thanks for the response..I did what you said and now it is working fine, never thought that that would happen, but thanks again

your phone can be moist, you should take out battery and use hair dryer to dry the phone in some minutes or put the phone under the 75W bulb for some hours.
if that dusnt work and your speaker actually got wet n buggered up u cud open ur B.A, and very easily remove the speaker, then weld the wires onto a different speaker, then put it all back in n put ur b.a together.
if your speakers buggered then u got nufing to loose, just get a diff speaker from sumwere of about the same size, i've done it heaps on times with other phones, etc.
if you do bugger it up tho take it to a repair place n they'll do it for really cheap.
but thats only if its your speaker thats buggered, if its as the guy above said then eh, this is useless =P.
Hello,
- I realized after putting the phone into the water and then the speaker sounds really soft and as if there's water in side of the speaker hole, but it gets back to normal after an hour of so. Does it happen to everyone ?
- The mic seems stopped working after using the earphone that comes with the handset. For example, 5 mins ago I was listening music with the earphone, then there's a call came in, I answered with hands free, then next min I unplugged the earphone, then people on the other side of the call can not hear my voice, I then had to restart my phone get the mic on the phone to work... Does it happen to anyone else? (I was on the stamia mode)
Please take your time to try them out, and let me know. Would be really appreciated if someone came up with a solution.
Thank you
Yes..after putting in water the speaker becomes normal and then after some times its normal...and about the mic problem I would say that when the mic doesnt works during the call just mute it and then again unmute it..

I've had this issue a few times. I haven't had it in water and I haven't used headphones. When I've had an issue with the caller not being able to hear me they can ring back and it's the same but then I can get another call off another person 5 mins later and it's fine...Gonna try switching stamina mode off and will try that as well Ame123 thanks

Yeah, I did the same LOL. I sucked out the water from the speaker, and the sound comes back in couple mins, apparently I heard from Sony, that is just part of the protection for the speaker, once the water drys out from the speaker, the sound comes back~ lol, and after few days of research, I've finally found out the reason behind the Mic issue, it's in the call setting, once you cancel the Microphone noise suppression, everything went back to normal , I guess it's just the software minor bugs.
I had the same problem, after 30 min, back to normal!

Don't put your phone in water , Sony will not provide any warranty if your phone got damaged .

I think 90% of the Xperia Z owners tried the water test
The speakers become horrible after the test, but without any action taken it takes a few hours to have them up and running. I'll try the suck out method next time.
Hi, guys!
If the sound is very quiet even after a long time, then you should dip your phone’s speaker part into the alcohol (medical)! Also you can use syringe without niddle to make pressure. It is because of condensate, which damaged the waterproof material of external speaker, so the sound doesnt have output!
I think it will help you!
Cya!
Got this problem from 3-4 days. During a call, the EAR speaker stops working. Though speaker works. I think it's a problem with software as ear speaker works sometimes.
I 've PureX installed.

my xperia z has the same problem, but mine when i press on the ear speaker the sound is back and it is back to work.
i think the problem is in the hardware.
sorry i don't have the solution but i asked sony customer care about my problem and they said to take to sony service shop
I have exactly the same issue - very intermittent though.
Been happening since the 4.3 update (so last 3/4 days also).
I've just done a wipe of the cache partition to see if that helps. If it doesn't, it'll be a full wipe
Failing that, and I'm really hoping it won't come to this, but I'll have to see if Sony will honour the warranty based on me buying from another country.
All all the things my phone can do - I can't now make a call without being on loudspeaker (or having the headset plugged in!)
Edit: No, still having the same issue - will try a full wipe and report if I find out anything new
water inside had the same pb..
Not been anywhere near water, so not that.
Done a full wipe & restore, but still have the issue intermittently.
I'll have to see if Sony will repair it - tricky I imagine given I purchased it in a different country.
Probably hardware related...
When this problem occur I twist my phone (literally pry it) then the speaker start to work again...
Seems like there a bad connection between speaker and motherboard...

I have the same problem and its related to 4.4 stock firmware, on 4.3 or 4.4 non stock rom the earspeak work perfect
Have same problem, earspeaker stop working and I can only make a call using the loudspeaker or a headset. If I install Smart Connect it shows that a Headset is connected, but there are no headset connected. What I also noticed ist that the microfon also not working in Video recording, etc. only in a call with loudspeaker its working.
I've had the same problem - it's hardware problem... Sony service was not able to set the problem (how stupid is that!) and I've been to another service (my phone is still under warranty) and payed - they replaced the whole air speaker... There's a major number of people who have that problem
It's a model problem... My Xperia z problems: death pixels, unglued backcover, problem wirh ear speaker and problem with proximity sensor....
Unfortunately for me Sony are no longer option when I choose a new smartphone...

I have the earspeaker problem as well for a few month now. After trying different ROMs (CM, RR, Omni, stock) I figured out the speaker works occasionally when I press and twist different spots on the backside a little bit.
At the moment my phone is at a service shop. I hope they will fix that annoying problem.
Sry if i resume that post But it's important :3
Be Careful before send your Phone at customer service for earspeaker substitution, The 80% of earspeaker issues are software (look The thousand of People that's changed earspeaker and have again The same issue in few month).
The constants in almost all The users affected by that problem are: They use sony's walkman and The Phone stop working properly because Android detect AN Headset in The audio jack.
So i try To disabile sony's integrate walkman (uninstall updates and disable application) and "musica in movimento" (in english i suppose is music on trip?).
Result: i can't hear Nothing for earspeakers.
As my Last ship i try a New music player Whit call interrupt function (Aimp). Headset ok, i disconnettere th jack, The song pause, Nice, try To play It without Headset: all work fine (do that thing, It probably permanently fix The issue). Now I'm using that Phone for work and at The moment It Seems work properly (i found that workaround only 3 days ago so is not fully tested)... If someone want try i need some feedback
P.s. I Hope i explain myself quite Well, I'm not english and Write long messages With italian spellcheck is a bloodbath :|
My xperia z ear speaker has a very poor sound. Sometimes I cant hear anything when I am having a call.
hi my device also got problem xperia z(6603) headset got no sound
Me too have that u think the earphone is damaged when i push it little hard sometimes back normal thats scares me
I had a same problem. First time I left it for service they said it's software and that they update firmware. Few days after same problem again, now they changed the earpiece and finaly works ok

I had the same problem, by pushing on ls some time it worked sometime not.
so I send it back to sony and got a new ls,perfect sound..
I was on CM12.1 earlier this morning. Suddenly I realised that my earpiece is not working while on calls. Neither did the screen turned black in effect of proximity sensor while on call. So I right away flashed stock to check whether its a hardware or software issue.
Digging more into the problem I could make out that its not the earpiece that is damaged but its the phone that thinks the headphone is still connected. I used an app called SoundAbout to check the media output. And it was confirmed that headphones is used for media output. Then I checked playing a song, it didnt through loudspeaker which also confirms that phone is detecting the headphone is plugged in while it is not.
Below I upload the screenshot of that app called SoundAbout which I used to find the problem. Sorry for such a long post.
Any help, suggestion, or any strange or extraordinary experience that could help?
Any help is appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!

Well if you are using SoundAbout why don't you then select where you want the sound to come out from? Isn't that the whole point of that app?
Also dunno about your proximity sensor issue but my phone suffers from similar ear piece issues as well and the issue crops up sporadically so I am still not sure sure its completely a hardware issue. I spent months looking for a solution but was finally about to hand it in for repairs when I the came upon the strangest solution somewhere. Here's what I do when this happens -
Plug my headphones in
Make a call
When you can hear anything in the headphones (call being connected, recipient's voice...heck just dial a non existent no. so you can hear the operator say it doesnt exist, any sound at all) , pull the headphones out and the sound comes out the earpiece.
I know it sounds silly but it works for me. It might not work the first time but after a couple of tries, it always does. Till date the only workaround I have found to this issue albeit a temporary one. Lasts me a few weeks before it happens again. Rinse and repeat.
One of these days I am gonna bite the bullet and hand it in for repairs. Remember reading someplace that this could be because some chip or something that supposed to switch sound depending on the task fails to do so though I am talking from memory here and this might be completely inaccurate.

i saw some users have the same problem actually ....try to plug and unplug it several times and see what happens
and clean your headphone input plug then reboot ....if any of that didn't help then repair it
None of the above method worked for me. I will send it for repair very soon. Till then I will use the app to manually route audio to loudspeaker.

Do let me know what the diagnosis is and the cost of repairs as well. If is a similar issue and doesn't cost the earth, I might repair mine too. Thanks.

Actually the issue is called stuck in headphone mode. If you google it there are a number of methods to solve it. One of those you could try out is http://forums.webosnation.com/webos...37-stuck-headset-mode-permanent-easy-fix.html
Go to a hardware store, pick up a tube of graphite powder for around $3.
1) Gently squeeze a couple puffs of graphite powder into headset jack.
2) Turn phone upside down to let excess fall out.
3) Grab a pair of headphones and insert/remove them several times.
4) Enjoy your new, permanently fixed phone.
Im planning to try this out. Even u can!!!!!!!!!
I will report soon

Well I suppose I now know why the method I posted was working for me. Was doing the same thing minus the graphite powder. Sticking the headphones in was causing the problem as well as solving it too. Mental.
