Why would you need to root your phone for flashing firmware? You must flash through odin, and as it is firmware you will not loose warranty...

Sure, you can do that, as you have not done this before it seems that flashing current firmware would be a good idea.

you get nothing that you don't already have, though I suspect that option has been suggested to you as it is like reinstalling a PC when it is giving problems
what you should really be doing is flashing a newer version of firmware for your region and see if that fixes your problem, maybe check for an update using samsung keis
i have a feeling it might just be your volume button is extra sensitive and you are holding the phone in such a way that you press the button
search through forums how to load stock firmware if you want to load newer firmware from another region
if you are worried about warranty then you should not be here

assuming that it is software related, loading the same firmware is not likely to fix the problem or even contain a fix for any other additional issues if this is a new phone that has not been loaded with any mods

I don't think it is a bug in the firmware, because lots of users are using the same version and have not faced any problems such as this, and in my experience, sometimes a phone which has not been modified in any way can also suddenly start experiencing problems and there are many such examples in xda, so for the easiest method would be to try and get back to the state in which the phone had been shipped. Then if the problem persists, other methods may be tried.

Solution found. It was 3rd party application. I found on other forums people having sam problem and after uninstalling app volume bar didnt shows after ending call. App is called "MapFactor: GPS Navigation".
In last update (release 23.04.2014) they fix the problem so there is no need to uninstall app!

Try the latest for your region...
The lower down on the list, the newer the rom
Meaning it's rooted doesn't mean it has a different ROM.

yup it's means it rooted. In my opinion AbyssNote kernel is better from the original kernel.
I am using rooted LA4 with bloatware removed and using franco's 6 kernel. the phone is working better than stock rom without any issues, freeze ups or slow/lags. The hell with custom roms, the stripped stock with franco kernel is the best combo for me. This is very close to stock rom yet better.

Oh so how can i install this chinese leak Ics version , is there a guide ? is it possible to get it on my device and is it safe ? hehe sorry too many questions . 1 last question tho , i got this yellow triangle logo whenever i boot up the phone, anyone know what this is ?
Here is a guide for ICS:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1509703
If you have yellow triangle, that means previous owner flashed custom roms using PC odin, and increased the binary count which voided your phone's warranty ...
You can still remove that yellow triangle using USB JIG, just search "samsung usb jig yellow triangle" in google, you will find plenty of SII tutorials and youtube video clips, which work for Note as well

So you flashed criskelo's fix and then used Galaxy_S_Unlock by herloz and it didn't work? Are you sure you did this step by step? I have also self-lock problem and this works on ICS but I'm scared to try this on JB... I hope that soon there will be a fix for Galaxy_S_Unlock app for JB too

Some problems after installing Ultimate JB 5.1
I came from CyanogenMod 9.1.0 Stable.
On the whole Ultimate JB 5.1 is good but:
1) Bad battery life - the wifi stays on 24x7 even though I mention only when charging.
2) The Google search doesn't include options for Evernote and Google Drive and other apps. I don't know if it is specific to this Rom or JB.
3) I can't go back to CM9. The package doesn't install anymore. Do I need to change the kernel in Ultimate JB 5.1 first?
Ultimate XXLSC JellyBean 4.1.2 v5.1
Kernel 3.0.31-593490 [email protected] #4
I wanted to post this on the much larger thread in the development section but it says newbies can't post there :crying:
is it error 7 in recovery when installing new rom? then you will need to change the kernel. but keep in mind that the other kernel you try might not be compatible with this rom and thus you will have access to recovery /download mode only. make sure you have all the required files to flash the rom before hand
Hello all,
I'm from indonesia and currently I'm on ultimate ROM 4.1.2 V5.1 from joosh and I had a problem everytime made a phone call.
The phone call always hang up or disconnect after couple times. It never let me make a phone call more than 3-5 minutes.
What do u think guys? Is it because the modem or because I had a bad signal from operator? How can I find a solution for this kind of problem...
At the first time I thought it was just a bad signal. But it happened all the time when I had a long phone call
Thanks guys and will appreciated any explanation.
Happy New Year to u all

Dear all XDA Developers
i have samsung galaxy note n7000, after we got the official JB update the device went to be so slow, so i choosed to downgrade it to ICS and i download the sogtware image from (www.samsung-updates.com) as i told it should be official software images.
and i downloaded the ODIN v3.09 for pc, connect the phone and install, it fiinished successfully, AFTER that i start to got the error, the phone shutdown suddenley and got the screen said "RST_STAT 0x2000000 User Fault, not kernel panic, upload mode"
i tried to install again and still have the same error the it is random no specific time, then i download and install the Philz and wipe the phone as for install a new ROM and install the same image then got the same error after two days.
my request is how to solve this problem and where to download an official ICS for my GT-N7000
i hope to find the solution here in XDA developers
best regards
No one can help??!!!!
Is this issue so difficult and there is no solution or any idea about solving it??
It depends on how you choose. Going your path back to official ics could be problematic. So i would just go forward install a custom jb rom such as Aryamod then the problem is solved and u will have a beautiful and fast rom. Done.

Also, stock ics is known to brick phones.
as i got the official JB via update the device is too slow, so would that problem solved when installing a custom rom? and which rom should i choose? and the problem now is with the device hardware? or just the ics??
as i searched before it on the internet i found that this is a GPS problem!! how can i check that please??

1stly, After getting JB update from OTA, it's recommended to do a factory wipe in stock recovery (This is what Samsung CS told me). I tried and it works (at the expense of having all my data n apps gone).
2nd, Like @forest1971 says, there's many good custom Roms And you can choose per your liking. I strongly oppose going back to ICS as of the brick bug threat. If you really want to downgrade, might as well go for GB.
3rd, WHAT is the point of our good Dev's spending their precious time and cracking their heads to come up with a custom rom IF they are not BETTER than Stock roms?

Installing through odin is the best method for flashing stock rom. You have done it right. Just remember NEVER to do a factory reset anywhere with ICS. Not even in recovery
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA Free mobile app
Just finished downloading the rom ( after 9 hours of struggling with sammobile site.
Was on Gnabo v3, dirty flash of UK BTU 4.4.2 via odin, everything worked as expected, all my apps/settings were there.
Improvements over leaked/stock modified n8000 roms
-email ( secemail.apk - hotmail.com server ) works like charm without any problem.
-USB OTG works flawlessly without the annoying mount/dismount notification.
-Feels snappier ( perhaps just a feeling ! )
-Auto brightness icon is well aligned in notification drop.
ROOT: Rooted with Chainfire (ODIN) from here - http://download.chainfire.eu/247/CF...to-Root-p4notewifiww-p4notewifixx-gtn8010.zip
Recovery: CWM 6.0.3.6 Non touch (My preferred, you may choose another, Philz for instance was reported to work just fine).

Great news ^^
Somebody can create a deodoxed version or a flashable zip of this file(or link mit to a good toutorial) ? i dont want flash with odin becaue i`ll try without wipe my device...(i`m on gnabo rom v3)
so it's finally out! thx.
Very interesting!
Some questions as I have never flashed the tablet before, phones yes a while ago.
What is the recommend back up solution?
How easy is it to go back if this ROM has issues? (And how do you go back)
I assume this completely replaces what is on the device, so everything is wiped and lost, no factory restore including the delivered ROM is possible?
Is it possible to get the stock ROM that Samsung supplied?
Sorry for all the questions.
Regards
Tom
What would the steps be for installing this?
I am currently on Gnabo Rom V3, is there any way i can run this without using my PC from that ROM?
I really, really wanna download this but also want to be able to have the note 2014 apps. Can I resist until someone makes a custom rom from it??.......
Ooh this is really really hard.......

You may try 2014 apps after rooting the rom.
I will stay on BTU UK Stock, at least it is a safe, clean way to update the bootloader rather than using n8000 stuff (was on gnabo3).

I don't have any backup software currently, so I guess Titanium is the recommended?
Sorry, when I said stock I meant an official release rather than a leak. You seem to suggest that going back to JB would be hard work, how about moving to the official release of a KK ROM should Samsung ever release it?
Out of interest, do we get access to the new S-Note (same as Note 3 is using) with this?
My n8010 isn't currently rooted, from reading the other posts in this thread it doesn't look as though it would need to be.
Thanks

OP,
that is very interesting.
I get FAIL in PC Odin, then Mobile Odin does not recognise my device, because of the N8000 bootloader, I assume.
Any work around?
