Hi everyone
I am a new owner of a galaxy gear and i have been experiencing some weird issues related to music controls.
the play/pause, volumes up and down butoons works just fine
but the next track and previous track are actually controlling the volume also.
i cant fast rewind when holding the prevous track button and when holding the next track it just pauses the song.
i uploaded a 40 seconds videos to show the behaviour
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmBAzSSV_dk&feature=youtu.be
I am using a samsung galaxy note 3. I dont thing root is the issue coz it was doing the same when it came out of the box. i even factory reset my phone to check if the root on the phone side was the problem but no.
is anyone had a similar issue ?
thanks
I have an issue too. My album art will display on my fear, but the seek and play buttons don't work. The volume buttons work fine but that's it. Any input would be appreciated.

Greetings everyone!
I recently purchased a Samsung i9000m with Bell Canada. Thankfully I have not had any major problems with the phone, but there is one large annoyance I have discovered: Whenever the headphones are plugged in, pressing the button on the headphones cord starts the Music Player app. Additionally, removing the headphones also starts the Music Player app. Has anyone else experienced this behaviour from their phone? Is there a way to stop this irritating "feature"?
My phone is currently all stock/not rooted, except that I recently upgraded the firmware to JH2 (this behaviour also existed on the previous firmware).
Many thanks in advance,
Matt
The first feature is intentional. ( Why else would you press the button again? )
I don't get the second. ( It does pause when I pull it out, and it starts playing if I have that setting on, when I put it in. )
Thanks for the reply.
I'm not sure I was clear. Anytime the music player isn't running (i.e. after turning on the device), unplugging the headphones will load the music player. Similarly, pressing the button on the headphones (i.e. to answer an incoming call while I'm driving my car) will also start the music player!
Basically I want the music player to only load when I choose it from the apps page or home screen...I almost liken it to a weird version of "autoplay" from windows computers...I wish there was a way to turn it off with a simple check-box!
Can confirm that unplugging any cable from the headphone plug will open the music player app.

Well that makes two of us....I guess that means I'm not imagining things!
Doesn´t open Musicplayer when plug out the headsetcable on my SGS. Maybe you have any other music player widget or app installed?
I saw that also. Better yet, even killing the app with autokiller, adter a few seconds... there she was again playing.
I was in transit that tine and could not investigate the problem. Didn't use musicplayer much lately so don't know if the problem still exists.
For me the trigger was the headset button. Click that sucker and you have an annyoing Musicplayer that returns from the deads.
yeah very annoying. i was just testing the tv out and it still starts it when unplugging the cable.
Just a FYI.
You'll get the same effect when using a Bluetooth Stereo headset
1 tap to wake up the phone
2 tap to launch the music player
double fast tap to skip to the next song
1 tap long hold to call last number dialed
... and there are more tricks, but that's usually what i do
Searching for the same problem with other gear owners but can't seem to find it:
When I use the media controller on the gear I can only change volume up/down but no track skip or play/pause.
Tried this with stock player and also spotify.
Both my phone and the gear are full stock unrooted devices, phone running on android 4.3 MK6, gear on na6.
Smart switching isn't working either.
Any tips what to do? Tried null already, no difference.

It's fickle at best. Sometimes I hit Play and nothing happens, other times it works and always starts playing the stock audio player.
Have you tried starting media on the phone first and then attempting to change tracks or pause on the Gear? I have been more successful that way and usually use it when flying (as I am right now) to control Google Play Music or the stock video player on my S3.
Another observation - sometimes when I use the media controller, the album art shows up, other times it doesn't. For the same track. Sometimes the title and artist show up for a few secs, sometimes it goes straight to the five buttons.
As I said - fickle
Running Null19 and S3
Hmmm...never had any problems on my s4 - works perfect (controls and album art). Using stock music player as I assumed that is all that worked
Just got my Cloud White 64GB yesterday. Flashed cm-12-20150115-NIGHTLY-shamu.zip. (I've been out of the custom ROM hobby for years now)
I know of the Bluetooth static bug. I've googled and haven't found anything with the issue I'm having.
I have the media volume set at 100% and attempted to test the front facing speakers. The first few seconds of any music track on Google Play Music or Youtube, the audio is loud, then appears to drop to 50-60% even though the volume is still set at 100%. When the track finishes and goes to the next track, the volume is back up to 100% for a few seconds before dropping back down.
I know CM12 is just getting started, but does anyone know of a quick fix for now? If not...well, stock ain't so bad.
Nevermind. Found a bunch of other threads. Seems to happen on stock as well. Anyone out there NOT have this issue whether on stock or custom?

Hello!
I've recently got myself the OnePlus 3T, which I'm pretty satisfied with.
After some time I noticed that my 3-Button Earphones don't work like they used to. I can still play/stop and lower/raise the volume with the different Buttons, but I'm not able to skip a song when holding the + button for a longer time (Same with the - Button)
I've searched through pretty much the whole settings and couldn't find anything.
Before the 3T I had the OnePlus One with CyanogenMod. Maybe this feature just isn't available in OxygenOS?
Anyone have an idea on how to fix or implement this feature?

Mine is working as expected.
One pres start/stop: pause or play,
Double pres: Next song,
Triple pres: Previous song,
+ Volume up,
- Volume down.
I am using PowerAmp app for playing music.
Regards
They are working correctly, in stock android you need to press the play/stop button twice to get to the next song, and three times for the previous song. If you have xposed and gravitybox, you can have that volume key long pressing feature too.

Those were both working. Seems like this was something specifically with either CM or the OnePlus One. I'll take a look at GravityBox as soon as Xposed releases for Android Nougat.
Thanks for the help!
On Android 9 the headphones' remote button logic was the following : if no media is playing and the button is pressed the LAST used media app starts playing. Good.
After update to Android 10 the logic has changed : if no media is playing and the button is pressed ONE PARTICULAR APP starts playing (in my case "Smart AudioBook Player") even though another app was paused a second ago. For example Youtube. This is unusable.
Does anyone had the same problem? Any idea how to fix this?
Thanks in advance.
I use the Galaxy ear buds and in my case the behaviour did not change from Android 9.
If the last I played was Spotify, when I put on the headphones and press the "play" button on the ear bud Spotify will continue. Even if I do it after a few days, it always continues where the last used app left off.

I would try clearing the cache partition and if that doesn't work then a factory reset.
